    Gary nice work! I know how tough it is to work alone and try to make a successful BTS video at the same time. The way you filmed it was great, i especially like how you let shots linger and don't just cut every 2 seconds. Thats how its done, wish more people edited like that. Anyway thanks for another helpful video. You would make a perfect mentor or just someone to assist and learn from. Keep up the good work

    LOVE the BTS. Thank you and more please. Particularly keen to see you run through a corporate headshot session with several people in the 'standing' pose. I struggle with the varying heights and skin tones. Your vids are my go to for headshots so really appreciate the effort you go to putting the vids together. I'm a vid editor so know the process is 'massive' - on top of doing a regular photo shoot. Wow. I'm.so nosey I love behind the scenes. Look forward to part II.

    This is another great video. Love the BTS of the shoot, and the biz side of things. Can you go into a bit more detail on marketing to the medical residents? I live in a town with a big medical university and I know there are lots of residents here, just not sure how to market to them and get then in front of my camera. Any tips would be appreciated. It’s great that you write a personalized welcome message with the client’s name on that chalkboard they see as they walk into the studio. Nice touch that puts the client at ease and reassured them they’re in the right place. Where did you get that idea?
    In online marketing, there’s a similar concept called “Conversion Scent.” When a user clicks on your ad and lands on your website, the headline on your website should be congruent with the ad they clicked on. If it’s not congruent, the user will “bounce,” as in leave.
    The same way an in-person customer might walk out if they’re not sure they’re in the right shop.
    Looking forward to future videos. Appreciate the extra work you’re doing to film yourself in addition to doing your photography.

      It's funny because it has become a bit of thing in our studio. People love it. They take selfies with it, they upload pictures to social media. All for a ten dollar picture frame and a can of spray paint.

    Loved this! The photos were great for both subjects! I would love to see a BTS video of a headshot session from beginning to end including how you direct them in their poses and how you move the lights to get different looks. Also, do you edit out the strobe and light pole in their catchlights? Thanks!

    • @GaryHughesOfficial
      @GaryHughesOfficial  Před 3 lety

      Okay I’ll put that on the list :) I don’t really do anything to the eyes in the edit, they usually stay as they are unless there’s a specific issue like discoloration or something

    Hi Gary! New subscriber here! I have a question for you. I have noticed in a couple of videos you seem to locate your key light off to the side, as to not take advantage of the unique catchlight the eye-lighter offers. Is this intentional? And if so, why? Thanks

    1) I would feel like Bill Murray in Groundhogs day going in and out of rooms to set up shots and them have to go back into them to get the clips. THIS is why you produce great CZcams content and I don't do video.
    2) I'm curious how big your primary shooting area is.
    3) Would it be possible to do more eating videos(𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥...𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘥...𝘐 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳)?

      Easiest way to start is to reach out to existing clients and let them know you offer it. Come up with an offer, session is free, maybe one image. Sell them additional images if you like, let them sample the service etc.
