    Without any doubt this was the greatest performance by a 2-year old you will ever witness, he was simply sensational. Sadly Arazi didn't train on and was a huge disappointment in his second season. But those who saw it will NEVER forget that Breeder's Cup victory.

    The reason Durkin is so great (was so great? :-( ) is that he announced the race just as he felt it...when Arazi goes right past Bertrando Durkin is surprised and he lets the audience know. Durkin was an incredible announcer up until a few years ago and then time started to catch up with him, just like it does with everyone. Tom Durkin is the main reason I became a horseracing fan.

    It's like the movies......Liz Taylor in National Velvet! Unbelievable performance! The best 2yo performance of all time without a shadow of a doubt, IMO.

    I watched this live and I remember thinking (as a European) "Oh dear, this going to be embarrassing, the fastest 2yo we've had for 20 years has been taken off his feet by these speedy Americans" and then bang! wow! here he comes!.

    This race still rates as one of, if not the singularly most impressive performance of any Breeders Cup race since the inception of the Breeders Cup races in 1984. Arazi was a one horse wrecking machine in this race!!

    The most amazing move I have ever seen, and his Derby move was huge too. Probably Durkin's best call.

    I'll never forget the audible gasp from everybody watching this that day at Laurel Park when Arazi made his move.

    Never switched leads, blew the turn... none of it mattered. What a shame this horse was handled the way he was later. Surgery, one prep, asking him to go a mile and a quarter... which he was not bred to do.

    One of, if not the greatest race in Breeders cup history and what makes it special is he was only 2. Right up there with Personal Ensigns win over winning colors

    imo one of, if not, the finest calls from the illustrious, brilliant career of Tom Durkin...
    certainly in the top 5.

    Quelle course !

    This still may be the most singularly impressive win, as far as a horse completely destroying the opposition, in Breeders Cup history. Horses aren't supposed to beat a Breeders Cup field by the margin that Arazi won the Juvenile by. The Breeders Cup was meant to draw the best of the best from all over the U.S., Europe, and beyond. Amazing that Arazi was so much more dominant than the other juveniles of that time.

    What a crying shame that he never really trained on.
    Still, one of the most impressive performances that I've ever seen.

    Arazi was the Frankel of his day unfortunately never lived up to everyone expectations as a 3yr old. Don't know if Arazi beat much that day but the way he did it will still be one of the best races to watch ever. Gave me goosebumps then and still does now when he blows by Bertrando.

    Several of these 2 year olds came back for the Kentucky Derby: Arazi, Dance Floor, Pine Bluff, Snappy Landing. Big Sure and Agincourt also entered 1992 Triple Crown Challenge events.

    Bertrando by 4 over the rest of the field, by 10 over Arazi for the rest of his career. But on this day.. Well, simply the most impressive run in BC history, up until Zenyattas loss...

    Ooooooo, CF! Oh, wow! I was NOT ready for THAT!!!
    That was so stellar, I was a little laughing and crying at the same time. :D
    So...does Arazi remind you a bit of anyone?

  • @jonathanhart8570
    @jonathanhart8570 Před 3 lety +3

    Wow, we still use the saying, it did an arazi, whenever a horse wins well, Bertrando, came out as a 3yr old to be a top horse, arazi never, such a shame, could of been the Frankel of the 20th century

  • @711ATOM
    @711ATOM Před 13 lety +3

    Arazi was amazing as a two year old. Allan Paulson liked to name his horses after aeronautical navigational checkpoints, the most famous of which was Cigar. Arazi was a Kentucky bred, but became famous in Europe. Was it the arthroscopic surgery that really stopped him in the Kentucky Derby? I don't know, but that's racing. - Oh, one more thing, one of the other posts seemed to suggest Arazi was too small, no, War Admiral, Count Fleet, AP Indy - many top horses are on the small side.

  • @spicetruckin
    @spicetruckin Před 11 lety +2

    yes, normally one may think it was the race caller being stunned by one horse (co favorite-unbeaten) being run roughshod over so fast by the other (Arazi)....but then again, after listening to a lot of Durkin's calls about Tizway (at BC), Curlin (at Dubai) etc.. it might seem more of the cross pond rivalry!
