Italeri 1/24th scale Transit Van. "Folly". Model Built June to December 2017. I had long wanted to build a small commercial vehicle and the original focus had been upon a builder's tipper truck. However no such vehicles exist as model kits so I plumbed for the ageing Mk2 For Transit instead. I used the project as a test-bed for making my own decals. The van was built for fun and the diorama idea was thrown together late in the day as an opportunity to fulfil another desire - to build a model shipping container. When cut in two this neatly filled the empty space in the diorama base that was, quite frankly, a little too large for the van by itself. I used this opportunity to sprinkle the van and diorama with a lot of personal "in" jokes. Most are too small and obscure even to be seen. Inside the van is a desk covered in items from my own desk at work. The floor is littered with papers that I have read from the time the model was made. The graffiti and bill posters on the containers reflected the political passions of the day. It is all designed to be tongue-in cheek. In 2018 I resolved to bolster the diorama with some more 'junk' and a business-man figure. However it took me ages to find the courage to paint him. So this was finally-finally finished in its current state in March 2019. Enjoy.
