Looking great Khải, I am half Chinese and half Vietnamese just like you. Live in USA for the past 15 years and now happily permanent reside in HCM city. 🥰 Edited: Be careful on the road, stay away from the big truck, don't drive near or beside them, too dangerous, cause the blind spot they can not see you and don't try to past them, slow down and just let the big truck go past you first.
Before you mentioned the sunset I had guessed this was the western side of the peninsula. It was not developed at all in 1974. The big mountain has an old historic French-era cannon emplacement that was built to protect the port there.
@10:00 those bundles look like cassava/ yuca plants. They cut them down to smaller/shorter stalks and plant them in the dirt. Cây khoai mì.

The "white milk" is the sap from the trees. It is dripping down the plastics and collected. For example, the saps are used to make the automobile tires.

foreigner xe may drivers always says the north is more beautiful than the south, but thats because the foreigners never drive through the mountains and other areas except when they are in the north. Da Lat is amazing and havent been but even Pleiku has my interest.

By now you know that this is a large rubber plantation. Lots of them north and northwest of Saigon. I passed by them in 1974 on a bus.
I was last in Vung Tau in 1974'; went there with my then in-laws. Visited my brother-in-law's grave at a RVN military cemetery. He was a Sgt in the ARVN. I imagine that cemetery now may be closed or razed. On another trip I went by bus alone to Phan Rang to visit the Cham Cultural Center and commune with the culture of Champa--the subject of my 1972 M.A. thesis and then my erstwhile Ph.D Dissertation.
A grand adventure lies ahead. Just a few suggestions from a guy who has done some extensive riding in Vietnam. Please please gear up. Goggles or better still a full face helmet. Some sort of jacket that breaths and offers some skid protection. Gloves gloves gloves. if you ever fall off the first thing to hit is your hands. Long heavier pants, think of your bare skin hitting the pavement. Also you will come to learn the trucks are the biggest risk, one almost killed me. OK OK I will stop with the negativity. You are going to have an amazing time. Far and a way the most fantastic riding in the world in an amazing country. I look forward to tagging along. thanks.
