- Hi everyone. I decided to re record the Thomas Theme from scratch with a live band feel. I Hope you enjoy it.

Hi all, with all the changes coming up on You Tube I have decided to release the Thomas Themes on iTunes and Spotify etc. If it proves popular I will record more and release them the same way.

Allow me to expand upon the original comment.
What started out as one or two stories for a young boy sick with measles has turned into an easily recognizable worldwide franchise with a dedicated fan base, that has its edges like any fan base does, many an ear worm of musical pieces that're as recognizable as the franchise itself, and the better part of a century's worth of memories tied to it.

A really useful work once again Mike! It certainly felt like a nostalgic train ride for most that can hum or sing to the iconic tune that you've recently recomposed.
I love the theme tune to 'Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends'. It will always have a place in my heart as it always makes me happy to hear it every time it comes on :) .
I was listening to your Terence theme yesterday and I said to myself I wish Mike O Donnell would upload again soon because I love his music so much. Now I see this today and looks my dream came true. I really enjoyed this as it brought back memories of the old days. I love the live band feel to it as well, I wonder what Donald and Douglas' theme would like this way. We can all agree that nothing beats the Classics, and nothing is ever more fantastic than the original Classic Thomas the Tank Engine theme song. Brings a lot of nostalgia to me, and I never get tired of hearing this theme for as long as I live.

It's nice to hear the theme recomposed in a similar fashion to how several people have recomposed it, but nice knowing it's by one of the original 2 musicians.
I have loved yours and Junior Campbell's work since I was 3. I'm 29 now going on 30 this January and this is pure bliss to my ears. I really wish you guys would release an album of all of your compositions on the show in HD quality. I would pay HUGE money for such a collection!

That theme song was one of the first things I ever heard in my head and that's gonna stay with me no matter what.
I was just singing Come For The Ride, composed by you and Junior Campbell, when this popped up in my notification box {or bell.} This is like music to my ears, with that jazzy tone, even with the live band feel. You most certainly have not lost your charm and talent, Mike O'Donnell. From- Sasha.
Wonderful to hear a re-do of this theme by one of the men who composed it! This does beg the question: do you still have the same synthesizers and other equipment you used when composing/recording the show’s iconic themes and melodies? If so, would you do a modern recreation using the same technology?
Thanks for your comment - All the old equipment has long gone to the big recycling studio in the sky I'm afraid.
Robert I have a folder containing all the SFX of Thomas and they used a Roland Jupiter 6 for S1-2
Mike O'Donnell do you still know how the original recordings were produced? If so, could you share that knowledge with others who want to attempt to recreate it?
I have heard many covers of this classic tune, but none have been able to match up to the brilliance of what you and Mr. Campbell have achieved. We as fans are very thankful to the both of you for reminding us why we love Thomas to begin with! I wish you both nothing but the best :)

This is an absolutely amazing retake. I've seen many people doing various retakes of the theme, but of course only the original master could nail a redo so perfectly!
