    3:27 this is actually how I introduced my son once he was born. Most people I know didn't know I was pregnant. I didn't post about my pregnancy on social media because I wanted it to be something just for me, my partner & our immediate family. Not the world. I have a few pictures of him up now but not nearly as many as I have in my phone or sd cards. He's almost 3. He's my rainbow baby. I also didn't post because I was superstitious about posting about my pregnancy. I posted during my 1st pregnancy & it ended up in a miscarriage. I know it seem stupid but I wasn't going to risk it.

    Hey!! Love you videos. As a C section mom myself I find your insight helpful, and your reaction videos are hilarious lol.
    I was curious if you could do a video on obesity and pregnancy. Talking about numbers and how to be as healthy as you can if you are a pregnant obese woman.
    I was very overweight when I had my first and I still am (about the same size), and I’ve always had some worry about being judged by my doctors or to have any pain or worry I had dismissed because I was fat and not as healthy as I should have been before getting pregnant.. thankfully I had an amazing OB who took me seriously and didn’t make me feel terrible, but I know other women who have had that happen. And I want more babies but I don’t think I can get to a healthy weight before I want to have more.
    Sorry for a long comment!! I’d love to hear your insight 😁

      @emiliana1767 Před 5 lety +10

      Totally agree! Also i just want to add, i found that most of those risks are only slightly higher for obese women. Its so scary to read that overweight women endanger their unborn, when in reality its still very unlikely they get preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, harm to the baby or anything similar due to their weight. And i think that the definition weight of obesity is laughingly low - i am obese but look very normal. I look like i should lose a few pound but not like a am obese. Overweight women who are pregnant should not get scared or judged, but be empathetic to themselves and receive help if anything!

    • @TulipGirl-ip9kv
      @TulipGirl-ip9kv Před 5 lety +7

      I agree! I actually do look obese, but not AS OBESE as the “charts” would have you think, you know? During my pregnancy my numbers were always perfect... no high BP, no GD, my son always measured on track (the one thing they did do was give me regular ultrasounds to make sure he wasn’t too big, which honestly looking back I think wasn’t as necessary as they made me believe. It was due to my weight that they were afraid he would be too big).
      I would love to hear more about this topic from a medical professional’s point of view! :)

    • @emiliana1767
      @emiliana1767 Před 5 lety +4

      @@TulipGirl-ip9kv thats so interesting! I experience pregnancy similarly. I am 33 weeks as of now and have optimal BP and normal range blood sugar (i regularly test at home cause i happened to have a measuring thing (lol) at home anyway), baby boy is growing on track and so far no complications due to weight for either of us. My weight was actually never openly considered a risk factor by my doctor, which i am very grateful for! But the internet really scared me. And i think there needs to be more research done on obese pregnancies to clarify the reasons for and by exactly how much the risks rise. And what a pregnant overweight woman can do to mindfully reduce them, without being forced to strictly diet (which is connected to risks in pregnancy anyways). Pregnancy is such a fear induced time already, every bit of fear that can be taken away, should be taken away!

    Some really good ones there! It's been 36 years but I remember crying over not being able to tie my shoes & crying all day over it. This was back in the day of old school scales, when the weight block went to 150, it was the "clunk" of despiration. I started at 112#, delivered at 162#. My nickname was "her immenseness". Best part is, there are no pictures of this! Cell phones are NOT always a good thing. I relate to the TED hose story & the leg shaving. I've given up leg shaving as well as make up. I'm blonde & they're not very noticeable, besides, who decided we needed MORE jobs? We already have other humans we have to care for, there was weeks my hair stayed in the same braid for days. I could pop in for a quick shower but not enough time for hair washing. Babies & children hear a shower running & start crying about 3 minutes after. When they're older, they get hurt about the same time or find another disaster. "Mom, I let all the dogs out!"
    Edit: I had been a NICU nurse, healthy babies cry alot more than premies. I was, shall we say, unprepared for one robustly vocal infant & distressed as I usually cared for 3 growers in NICU. "Oh lord, I'm a failure" was my thought for 3 months.
