I did highschool prac teaching at it WAS HELL. I got 3 hrs sleep every night between lesson- planning and grading. I hadnt even gotten to the parent-teacher nights and staff meetings and inevitable staff politics and bitching and extra-curicular activities, weekend sports, after hours events etc. (Teaching absolutely sux and it never. fucking. ends)

Tip with the garlic: Add the garlic after you have cooked the onion/shallot a little bit as the garlic takes less time to cook....that way the onion has a chance to cook down first!
also reduce the heat as much as you can so it doesnt get burnt

Something I like to do is if cooking with a sauce I cook the onion first , then put the sauce and the garlic. The garlic will still cook and that way it won’t burn

I know Cody is usually a pretty loud guy, but I loved the gentle and reassuring tone he used when Kelsey was upset. So sweet! Also, I agree with all the people saying add the onion before the garlic, cause garlic can burn super quickly. Love you guys!

Hey Kelsey, I always cook my onions for a while before adding in the garlic. Onions take a few minutes to soften and garlic only takes about 30 seconds, so recipes that tell you to put them in at the same time are LYING!!! Hope this helps :)

If your garlic is softening in 30 seconds, you are slicing it too thin, or your heat is up too high. If this is happening constantly, and you're using pre-peeled garlic like Kelsey in the video, shift to using fresh. Pre-peeled garlic should only be your go to if you use it less than once a week and need to be freezing large quantities.

Find an address to an apartment complex in the vicinity the food is delivered in and use that instead. Drive there, park in the front, and hit the “meet outside” option.

I have a few tips for you:
1. Garlic should never be extremely fine if you’re cooking it in a hot pan. Fine garlic is good for things like dressings, but if you add fine garlic to a hot pan there isn’t enough surface area for it to be able to handle the heat for long period of time.
2. Cook your onion for a few minutes before you add your garlic. The onion takes longer to soften and garlic cooks very fast.
3. If you added the vodka to the onions and garlic and let it boil before adding the tomato paste, the alcohol would completely evaporate and you wouldn’t be left with a strong alcohol flavour.

ALSO (thought you were going to mention this) PEOPLE PLEASE just add salt to your pasta water once it has STARTED BOILING, not BEFORE, if you add it before your water will take longer to reach a boiling point :(

You should definitely cook it on a lower heat and don’t add the garlic in like 3 minutes after the onion or you could leave the garlic clove whole so that it’s bigger which means it’s less likely to burn ❤️

Small tip to prevent the garlic from burning: always put the onion/shallot first into the pan for it to cook. Let it cook until 90% done and then you add the garlic. You only cook the garlic until it becomes fragrant!!! Hope this helps! :)
Tip for beginners. But if you wanna do something a little advanced were you can cook them at the same time, don't cut the garlic thin, you'll know if it's cooking too fast like Kelsey's. If you're still scared, then yeah just add the garlic in after the other has been cooking for about 3 mins. Also!!!! I don't know why so many people are scared of food browning in the kitchen. Brown doesn't equal burnt. It's fine. Also!!! (I keep forgetting to mention stuff) make sure the heat isn't too high. If you notice something is burning don't panic and keep stirring, turn heat off and remove. Or quickly add in liquid ingredients (if there are any, (not pure water!)) and stir. The garlic won't continue to burn, but the other stuff with still cook so don't worry.

Oh sweetheart. I've been cooking since I was 5. I still burn garlic. I promise it's because the recipe messed up. You put the shallots in get them a little soft and then add the garlic. Just for next time you make it. You did so great though. There's no shame in cooking with your man because he helps calm you down.

garlic can burn really easily. you can do two things: 1. you add full piece garlic and you take it out after a minute (the heat was waaaay to much what you used) or you do what you did the second time. BEFORE it becomes brown you add sauce of meat or whatever you cook (you can add a little bit of white wine as well) i appreciate the music, greetings from Italy :D
