Just looking from the outside in, it seems like they sent him a contract that he should have taken based off him being so independent minded. Record labels give you advances as a LOAN. The more money you take, the more money you have to pay back. I see both sides of it but I think Roc was giving Russ the chance to do a 1 of a kind deal where he can retain his masters faster. I could be wrong though.
