I have swann system for almost 4 years now. I've also changed and added up pc to remotely view it. Sometimes it is a breeze to config and sometimes it is very hard for it doesn't populate easy like what he showed. Using the same steps I have to repeat it so many times or leave it for the next day and I believe I get lucky and it works. Somebody should show the steps in a very methodical way like if s/n dont show up, then tell us what's to do next.

Well, after being told by Swann chat that the only way to monitor my DVR8-5580 is only through the app and there no way to view it on a pc, I came across your video. I figure what the heck, had already wasted a few hours, whats a few more minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to see the camera appear. Thank you for making the video. While the Swann UI is poorly done you at least make it possible to get it working.

my camera isn't showing up in the online device list on the computer app but it is on my iPhone app, any ideas?
spent 3 days to fix it. You need to put user name as ''admin''... Open Wizard again, on the left window you will see your device, hover over on it, click Modify, change User name to admin...

Just had to reinstall this after a windows restore deleted it from my tablet. I remember being driven up the wall a year ago the first time I installed it due to the lack of practical, useable help from Swann. Had my patience fried again this time until thankfully I found your video. Thanks for this.

Very useful information provided in a very simple and articulated way. I am having Swann security system and when go into remote configuration to select the zone are for motion detection, after selecting Alarm, I am not able to access option for Motion detection Request for your help.

I am getting motion notices 24/7, how do I set it to only send me warnings during certain hours. Only receiving notification from 1 camera? What is the best practice capture schedule or record schedule

Thanks for the video, very helpful. Could not get the motion detection to work however, it just shuts down the whole program, no matter which way I tried. May have to see if I can do it at DVR in the house location which is 400 klm away. Also, in display I was able to change the camera names, which I was going made trying to do.
I've had that issue since I upgraded to one of the newer versions of the software. You will have to uninstall and download the most recent version..

So I got the swan view plus app to find my DVR online but I keep getting Error 153 that it cannot connect. I am trying the homesafe app on my windows 10 pc and that cannot even find my device on my network. Any suggestions?

I have Wireless Swann cameras, and every time i try and add an online device nothing appears? Is this an app only for cameras supported with bnc cables and not wireless? Because i have the wireless cameras and this app is not showing any networks.

I can't view any of my channels. It's said, "channels cannot open because one or more device is offline"
I have 6 cameras and 4 show perfectly. When I click on 5 and 6, I get an error message that says "permission declined". Any help would be appreciated. Your video was great though.

I clicked Refresh and nothing came up but my cam works fine
i have 8 cameras when i look at the cameras they are not clear , but when i click on one camera at a time the picture is clear, how do i make 4 cameras look clear thanks
I think this is because mainstream (when you have 1 video showing) displays at full resolution and the rest of the cameras are your substream. The resolution for substream is capped but you can increase the frame rate and bitrate for those.

In remote config, the program crashes when i select "motion". Everything else works fine. The only gripe i have with the software here or on the NVR when configuring email, seems i have G mail 2 step verification enabled, you wont be able to configure the email setting, not unless you turn off the 2 step verification, which they strongly suggest not doing.

What about a device that's not connected to the wife but it's connected to your computer how do you then connect that device to the computer using this app

I was going to give up and still might. All my camera are showing with a circle with a diagonal red line through. The CPU in the corners show movement and is constantly changing. Swann were no help, so no hopefully some of you may help

Do not expect Swann to be of any help whatsoever. They can’t even be bothered to put basic instructions in the box (but you do get a ‘nice’ sticker), let alone enough instruction to wade through the complex and un-user friendly set-up of HomeSafe View, relying instead on people like ZG to do it for them. Even this does not cover half of what seems to need to be set. I have had mine over a year now and still not got a handle on it. Still can’t get basic motion detection alerts on my phone (plenty telling me that cameras I don’t have are off line!!) I have no idea how the mobile app and the HS V app interact, but get nothing usable from either really.
I occasionally like to waste a day of my life trying to get this crap to work, and like Dave C, I haven’t given up yet but still might, either that or lob the whole lot out the window.
Thanks to ZG for this video, which I did use when I first found it last year to set the system up, but an explanation of the various other settings, what they do and what changing them will achieve would be more than welcome. Thank you.
