  • I've bought a Vintage PS 3700 turntable from the 70s in very rough condition. In part 1 I restored all the functionality, now it's time to clean and service this old turntable for best performance.

Fixed and restored my Sony PS 3300. Many thanks for your helpful videos and the downloadable 3D printer files for the return drive cog! Cheers

Hi. I enjoyed the 2 videos and was looking forward to a part 3 to show the adjustments for the rpm tuning. Is there a part 3 final?

As im looking at this and thinking my own project. I might need to return to it and check my auto return mecanism and that big gear. As i remember it having no oil in it. But im glad that you got the longest straw with the tone arm removal, mine did not want to come apart, but i managed to fix its related problem with out removing it. Truely enjoy watching these :) Thank you for making these!

Great video just brought a sp1700 very similar to yours but belt driven I have noticed that the auto return and center shaft are seized so I will have to sort that out I think the centre gear is fine looks OK. Fingers crossed that the only problems.

Cheers jake, have sorted the auto return and had a good clean around, I managed to get the spindle out just but the ball-bearing has seized into the pin, I will need to work on it with the heat gun, hopefully come out I can see the it has warn trough the bottom so I will also need to look into that, but it's in very good condition so hopefully when it's do it should last along time. 👍

Hello. Does the engine itself need to be lubricated? When working, it makes a quiet rustling noise. You can only hear it if you put your ear close to the disc. Sorry, I don’t know English, I’m writing through a translator, I hope you understand me :)

Have you thought about adding vibration damping material to the metal chassis to reduce any motor or acoustic vibration from affecting the sound?

I have this now. Stylus always skids on vinyl.

Make sure you have weight and anti skating set correctly. The stylus tip is in good condition. The arm moves freely and the cuing mechanism isn't touching the arm once it's lowered.
