  • Hey there,
    Today I'd like to share my super cool, heavily modified CMPRO SUPER CHIPMUNK 120.
    I'm running a SAITO FG-21 (21cc) Gasoline engine, with all FUTABA servos and T18SZ radio with FASSTest telemetry.
    The complete nose area has been modified, to be a sturdy and reliable host for the FG-21 motor, the stock setup from the factory is really poor and weak. At the end of the video you can see some photos of that modification.
    Also, the gear mounting is completely modified, as the standard setup is totally inadequate and very, very weak.
    It's now a solid flying machine where I have loads and loads of fun with.

    Hello, thank you for the great video of this old bird. I have one unbuild, but now i will bring it to the air and do some modifications like you do. Do you know were the right cg is? Ciao

      Hi there, thanks for your comment! I pleased to hear you have one as well, they deserve to be roaming the skies. I'm sorry to say I do not know where the CG is exactly, and I do not have the manual. I recall seeing several forum posts about this bird in the past, I'm sure you'll be able to find some info when you search the forums. Good luck and blue skies!

    The saito forestroke Engines can be a little fussy getting them tuned right I know I have many of the Gasser 4 strokes ! Curious what oil you are running ? The man who designed these engines Says to only run klotz original technique plate at 15 to 1 Mixture And that is what we all run Otherwise you will starve the lower end of the engine of oil ! Great job in great airplane

      Hi! First of all thanks a lot for taking the time to write a reaction.
      Thanks for the kind words, it's indeed a wonderful flying machine and I really enjoy flying it.
      I'm also only running Klotz oil, but I am running 20:1 and she normally runs very well, I think during the first flight I had it a bit to lean. Was also a very hot day and that may have contributed a bit to that setting from previous flight not being perfect.

    Is the Fg-21 the same size as the saito 100?? I'm interested in getting one if it is. Thank you

      Hi, no the FG-21 is 21CC and the Saito 100 is 16CC. As the FG-21 is gasoline, you'll lose a bit of power compared to it being a Nitro 21CC, so I guess you could best compare the FG-21 to about a 19CC Nitro engine.
      Either way, I can highly recommend the FG-21, muuuuuch longer flight times at a fraction of the cost compared to Nitro.
