I wanted to write this comment to thank you guys for all these amazing episodes
They’ve helped me a ton in learning how to become fluent in Greek and it really couldn’t have been done without this channel!
Damn bro you can use τόνους
For a beginner this is hard. They speak so fast!! 😮
Would have been great to do this same episode but in a small town or village. My parents Χωριό has/had some great nicknames. 😂
Great comment!
My father calls me" last rose of her father", My Mother calls "lamb of her mother "mostly.

Kαι εσυ!
My nickname is 'Heartbreaker' because lots of boys liked me in HS and I didn't like them back. No details but I broke all their hearts ruthlessly 😂😂😂
5:24 i like Demetris dog 🐕 man 😅

Ya sas: My name is John. When I was (otan imouna) in Greece (stin Ellada) before the new millenium (prin tin nea hilietia) I was once called Johnis! Somebody used to call me Yannis Beklevanis or Yannis Meraklis
Thanks. If I remember rightly it means boxer or wrestler. It dates from the time of the Ottoman empire.
Dusan is soooo handsome hahaha
You know where to find him
Oh actually he says his Instagram on another video
@@EasyGreekVideos haha the best CZcams channel ever!
Do Marilena and Dimitris have nicknames? If so, what are they? And Maalouf??
We mention them at the end
my english name is pete but my greek friends call me panos :)

@@villytmd1154 hahaha this woman probably thinks we are still living in the 80s where people were getting arranged marriages
Ποια είναι η ιστορία του;;
But i've heard that being called by a nickname is harmful
Nah it shows familiarity
where did you hear that lmao
Like our interviewee who they used to call "alien" said, he never experienced bullying when they'd call him that. I guess it's not the nicknames that are harmful, but the intention behind using them. Which means your friends can call you the most horrible nicknames just because they think you're cool while, at the same time, a mostly innocent-sounding pet name can be used for horrible bullying.
@@user-mb9rh2iz5l My sister graduated from psychological counseling and guidance department at University, she said something like that being called by a nickname is harmful and it affects personality development, formation and attitudes in the following years. i remembered that after watching the video.
@@mms9263 i have more than 10 nicknames and names "Τζενιφέρ Ντέρλεθ" is one of them, i think i am not crazy
Are (Ιωάννης) and (Γιάννης) the same name? Plus does ( Χριστός) mean Christ and if yes then why do greeks give it as a name? I find it weird.
They are indeed the same name but Ιωάννης is the official or formal name and Γιάννης is and sounds more casual.
Χριστός does mean Christ, but a man's name would be stressed on the first syllable: Χρίστος or (usually) Χρήστος, spelled with an "ή" even, so that it doesn't look like "Christ" at all.
The vocative case is even more different:
-- the man's name
-- Christ! as in Χριστέ μου!
Why is it weird? Not any weirder than Jesús in Spanish, which I don't find that strange
