Master PVD .... who listening to this great set in 2019?
me
Been listening to this since 2003
I did listen it live
2020 Eeeeee
2020
You and me both dude.....depressing where trance has gone :(.
R.I.P. Trance, 1990-2006.
For me the good stuff dated between 1991- 2007. After that yes there still was trance but it’s just not the same
1994 - 2007
It's only dead when I say so mate.
@@perfecto1701 only this set is forever!

The era of no cell phone in the air...just dance and pure trance !!
I had a cell phone at this time... but there was no chance to hear it! ;-)

Goa Trance and Trance music is just eternal. Classic 🕉️ Mankind is blessed
Trance is timeless, you can be born in the 2000,s or in the 80’s and still enjoy this set
I would rather be born in the 80s than 2000s coz I cant stand the Gen Zs.
1. BT - Fibonacci Sequence
2. En-Motion - Truth (Pulser Mix)
3. DJ Remy - Pumped Up
4. John Rees vs Helios - Beta Blocker (JR Trance Mix)
5. Darude - Sandstorm

7. Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (E-Werk Club Mix)

10. The Infernal Machine - Realistic
11. PvD - Columbia (Original Mix)
12. PvD - Tell Me Why [The Riddle] (Vandit Mix Re-Edit)
13. PvD - We're Alive
OMG "5. Darude - Sandstorm" not being used as a joke
You can hear Bill Hamel - Perspectives Part 2 (Expansion Mix) for 20 seconds or so then it just cuts into Infernal Machine.
If we are being totally accurate you can hear him mix Pro-Lectric - One over the top of Beta Blocker (for example 10:42 and 11:35 onwards you can hear it).
So I bet he has mixed out of Beta Blocker into Pro-Lectric but this video has cut the Pro-Lectric track out. YOU can hear that anyway as it is badly cut from Beta Blocker into the middle of Sandstorm.
Ivan Ibarra b
Actually PvD didn't play Pro-Lectric track on main channel - it was overlayed for effect. I had full audio mix, but I like that overlays from 3rd turntable that he do.
Yes your right I just heard the full 60 min audio mix, he then overlays Pro-Lectric for a little bit when Darude plays also. Very Cool
I was watching this live on viva tv back in 2000. This is the sound of my young days. Pure bliss. With all the modern technology available nowadays he will never top what he did in 1998-2002 period.
I agree, his live sets back in those days might not have been technically perfect, but made much more sense and the musical selection was so much better. His sets were unique, as soon as you heard 5-10 minutes of a set, you knew right away if it was a PvD set or not.
agreed the PVD sound was evident @@robertfox05
I would posit that the technology affected every facet of dance music - both the production and the DJing of it. Back then the shiz was still organic, hard to describe with words.. I'd also point out that I used to see him play in Germany and stateside and he was already playing MUCH more watered down for US audiences vs his home country sets.. either way, so glad we have these videos and recordings.
@@robertfox05 fck yea!¡!!
those were truly the days of amazing trance Epicness . I miss it so. today's trance is ok but, nothing like the old days when real trance was sounds and Melodies . most youth just dont get it.
No, today`s trance is not ok... but enjoy!
there are some good trance out there yes. not like it was before. however there is still a few good artist. and I only mean 10% of good trance is out there. 90% of it is just trash
I completely agree with y'all. Trance of yesteryear of more "techno with emotion". The trance live sets were fluid & seamless & had proper transitions. Most of the what is call trance today is formulaic, pop/progressive "EDM" sounding noise
This is trance. You can feel energy from every second of this music. The creativity of PVD in this music is amazing, atmposphere is possible cut with knife.... PvD was god of trance music during year 2000 - 2004.
I would like be there, realy thanks for this video! MAYDAY rulezzzzz
Well said
The time when Darude's Sandstorm was actually music that people enjoyed, not a meme like now.All in all,the whole of this video encapsulates a time when trance was actually trance.Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Simply perfect! This is what trance music should be.
+László Heller respect!
+Xikovski-Music_PT tiesto? really? i hope u're kidding... his mixing suck, and hes changing rhytm, sound and emotions from song to song... he is not abe to make crowd flow (fly) through all set. i think that sometimes he's lost in his own set...
+Matej Mrkela, I think Tiesto's mentioned sets were however not the best but also correct. I liked them.

they're either from the 40's or they are Generation X kids. they know nothing but, Trap. lol its ok I am not hurt by this.

Good to know people in my age group with taste still exist.
Keep on listenin' to the good stuff mate!
Pretty confident PvD was the very first to innovate with this progression.
2. En-Motion - Truth (Pulser Mix)
3. DJ Remy - Pumped Up
4. John Rees vs Helios - Beta Blocker (JR Trance Mix)
5. Darude - Sandstorm
These tracks mixed in that order are effing timeless IMO; Dj Remy's Pumped Up sounds like it was just meant to be mixed into John Rees vs Helios' Beta Blocker.
I was born in 2000, and there was such a great Set in 2000.
La belle époque des DJ
The BEST period of Trance music. When PvD, Paul Oakenfold and Tiesto were ruling the world.
omggggg I was there, am I getting old ? :)
lol

Me too my friend and yesss we are old
old? this is from 2000, thats what I consider a new skool. I was at parties since 96 and I dont feel old. Maybe its because I was just 13 at my 1st illegal rave. Still, I took my acid and it was the day/night I will never remember. Much better than 1st sex :P

🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
thats one thing you wont see ever again, real djs searching through a pile of 12`` for the next tune
Ben Carlislr Unless you of course go see real DJs. Vinyl is still very alive in the DnB scene :)
+Ben Carlislr The only thing I don't see anymore is the hallucinogenic effects in the video. That's how I remember my partying days back in 2000.
@@elliotyoung6764 DnB scene? Btw have u heard of Techno in Germany, specifically Berlin?
Yea you will. Vinyl ain't dead get the fuck outta here

Good night?
+Chris Jesson yeah i think the most amazing night i my life
Urszula Sosinska really? Awesome
Me too, best night in the year
I wish I was there. I didn’t even exist then
I really do miss the sped up 140+ BPM era of Trance. I haven't listened to the genre since 2010 due to an extreme lack of creativity...
Michael Fiedler i think the same but real trance died in 2000
@@markovujnovic8526 No, Marko, it did NOT. The only reason to have that impression, is because you didn't start looking and/or kept listening to those who used to make Trance, but stopped many, many years ago.
2005-2011 were some insane years for Trance. The amount of uplifting and progressive masterpieces released between those years, is astonishing.
It is slowly coming back though, with releases from Alex Di Stefano, M.O.R.P.H., Talla 2XLC, Exolight, Alex Wright, Andre Visior, Gerome, Fredrik Miller,
@@sdHansy Nope, I never was trance only.
Im more acid/techno guy but love all electronic genres from ambient to darkcore.
I started love trance back then in 1994, and trance golden years was end of 90's.
In 1999 trance was so strong that it was normal to see trance tracks on commercial top lists.
But like some genres before and after we know what happens when money come in music. That exactly happened to trance in 1999/2000.
@@markovujnovic8526 golden era of trance 96-06?
@@machetemedina5185 Depends how U look on golden era. In early 90s trance was part of undeground, and U have numerous great trance track from that period. At the end of 90s trance become more and more part of mainstream. I heard Paul in 2004 alive and that was totally different, cheesy trance, like Tiesto&co. Not my cup of tea.
Used to live at that time in Germany, happy good old times. I was three times at the Love Parade. Everything was peaceful.
This was PVD! Perfect tracks selection, perfect and harmonic mixing.
Todays PVD is such a 2 hour ableton live monotionic boring medley. Please come back old PVD
+Pete Tong If you go to one of his extended nights (5+ hours) he still plays similar sets. Obviously, the tracks are not from the late 90's but it has the same vibe
I always heard EDM / Vocal Pop Trance Sounds the last times.
+Pete Tong Exactly. It breaks my heart. I grew up listening and raving to PvD in late 90's up until 2009 when his music devolved into EDM/cheesy vocal pop "trance"
@@Ardeshir88 he is back, just listen to duality, and he experiments within the Trance genre.
The fuck that everybody in that video is now 40, 50 or even 60?!
Mad!
Good music never gets old.
Wow it's been 24 years. I am still involuntarily looking for this set and listening to it over and over again. respect old kids trance ❤
please dont mention years lol
Best part: 20:17 Welcome to the Dance.
This is one of the best sets ever made, not only from PVD but overall, along with Tiesto's Trance Energy 2000. These two sets have no slow parts, pure energy, pure trance with no mercy to those who cannot move anymore.
Too sad, that trance as it was suppose to be is no longer here. Hopefully, while away from mainstream, it will be revived in couple of years.
In terms of no slow parts, have you ever heard PVD @ Dance Valley 2005? It's a TOP 5 set on my list of PVD sets.
The good ol days when nobody had smartphones in the air! just dancing!
Yeahhh and No one hast to sorry that anyone can see you at Facebook or whatever
The good old days were way before this
17:40, welcome to the dance, still give me goosebumps
The rave just PEAKED at that time during PVD, with Darude/Sandstorm - Des Mitchell/Welcome to the dance - PVD/For an angel in a row. Bloody fuckin´ awesome...
One of the best trance mix ever....miss thoose times...
My favourite PvD set. Nowadays, already i am glad to hear it in my car with Bluetooth technology.
Epic video before PvD was legendary. What an exciting time it was back then. He was so focused.
before?
Was in Westfalenhalle that night, and what I remember most from Mayday/Datapop was PVDs amazing tranceset. I did it at the age of 31, and later that year also @Cream/Amnesia in Ibiza. Was in Ibiza 91 also, and the plan is to go there one last time next year, to make a palondrom 910019. Yeah, turns 50 this month. Why the hell not.. Follow

2023 immer noch :P
2023 pvd still no 1
OMG That was one of the best sets ever!!! heard it over 100 times
true
Mind the difference, kids, although it's very subtle.
• DJ (e.g. Paul van Dyk)
- Can flawlessly mix and match tracks and maintain a constant level of musical presence over several hours.
• Not a DJ (e.g. every DJ at every party in every club I have ever been to)
- Is unable to put two songs together without an awkward pause or conflicting beats. Does not know faders.
- Turns off volume completely every few seconds to allow audience to stop dancing.
+LootFragg finaly someone who knows and who get the point of dj-ing and mixing. respect!
I call "not a dj" button pusher.
Not strictly true. In these particular scenarios, yes, flawless mixing is essential. But some of the best DJ's can be fairly poor at beatmatching and still maintain a level of musical presence. It is far more important to understand what the preferences of the crowd are, their reactions to the music, the musical key your switching from and to. Anyone can create a perfect mix in their bedroom, but if they just copied it to a crowd, that crowd is far more likely to leave the floor. In fact, PvD doesn't even beatmatch into Sandstorm. Point proven.
Paul Van Dyk is a GREAT part of my life...thanks...I deeply love you ...king of music🍒🍒🍒🥂🥂🥂
