Metallica - Enter Sandman but it's Microtonal (19-EDO, 19-TET)

I recently reached 100 subscribers on CZcams and I thank you all who have followed me on this journey! Per ‪@durkus8197‬ 's request, I have transcribed all of Metallica's famous Enter Sandman in 19-EDO, which divides the octave into 19 equally spaced notes. Our standard Western tuning system is 12-EDO for comparison, which divides the octave into 12 equally spaced notes. 19-EDO is very close to the historical 1/3-comma meantone temperament used in Europe in the 16th century. It gives us virtually pure 6/5 minor thirds (in 19-EDO they're only 0.15 cents sharp of JI) which can give minor tonalities a consonance that has not been heard before.
I really enjoyed making this transcription and arrangement and if you have a 19-EDO guitar, you can practice and learn the song with the tablature provided.

Wow, Dorico handles microtonal guitar bends well! The notation looks great. My ear got used to the bb5 in the riff really quickly, I find this to be almost completely non-xenharmonic. Hehe, I’d love to do a cover of a metallica song, where all the E’s are gone, but the meter is simply skipped. No time, though, and there are other things to do.

The b5 in 19edo was too sharp for my ears, so I used the bb5 which sounded more natural (it honestly sounds better than the 600¢ tritone). 19edo is very flexible; since it is a meantone and diatonic edo, it can be as familiar or xenharmonic as you would like. Maybe when you have more free time, you should do that Metallica cover :)

@@YoVariable FASCINATING! I believe it. You can get 19edo semitones to sound neutral-secondy if you’re clever enough.

they're about 7.2 cents off from JI, but they add a nice beating effect
