seriously, Hui especially looked like he genuinely did not want to wear it because he knew it was problematic and not just because it looked hilarious. He just knew. Not even a American but what mnet did is purely wrong here. Both the boys hui neither gyuvin is at fault. The staff targeted both and asked them to wear it. I saw the live streaming and everyone was uncomfortable and was showing it. Hui literally asked the staff multiple times that for real does he have to do it and is it okay kinda question to staff (idk y in this video it isn’t showing ;-; ) but yes they are forced to wear it and practice! This can be racism by the boys if they particularly asked the staff to get the prop or take it from them at the spot & without even asking the staff further. Which in real ITS NOT AND IT WAS OTHER WAY AROUND :( Also some may say that he could’ve walked out 🤦♀️ let me clear this out that they are trainees and not idols to have that much freedom. They are legally signed under the show’s contract and they are dorced to obey their rules ! So pls don’t hate hui and gyuvin or any other trainees with this topic cause they are literally not at fault. Take the time to look up the cultural significance of a headdress, the struggles that the Native Americans have suffered through and their struggles in the modern day, and then ask yourself if using it as a joke is really appropriate or not.
I've enjoyed Boys Planet so far and I'll continue to vote and tune in because I want to support the boys despite your mistakes, but I sincerely hope you do your research, acknowledge that this was insensitive, inform the staff involved, and perhaps take the content down.
Yeah, I've seen it multiple times over the years. There's a part of me that felt compelled back then to make excuses saying it was ignorance due to them not learning North American, specifically Native American history, them simply not knowing rather than them knowing and not caring. But it reoccurring is a bit exhausting and sad, and I do wish they'd take the time to read comments and listen to people's concerns. I simply don't wish anyone to view this and be impacted negatively.
As a Native American woman, this whole segment really made me uncomfy. It was so hard to watch and it’s even more sad now people in the comments were saying “it’s not a big deal” or “people are so sensitive”. When it comes to Native American or indigenous culture, most people will toss us to the side and try to make us seem like we are overreacting.

If you watch this episode the other two teams also get a unusual clothing given by the staff which is a fluffy hot pink feather jacket and a vest, only this team that got a cultural headwear... I suspect mnet staff know the meaning of this headwearand and they deliberately giving and showing the trainee (gyuvin&hui) using that headwear ignorantly. I mean, personally, I'm sorry that I did find it funny to wear the hat in this scenario too. just like another commenter said, it's like wearing a dress to dance hip hop. it's just cause the hat really didn't fit that dance or costume that's why it's so funny. it just doesn't match at all. it doesn't mean the boys find the hat ugly or anything, nor are they trying to disrespect others cultures. but indeed, I feel like everyone should be more aware of different cultures because it's clear that the boys aren't really aware of it, and actually I am too, that's why I feel sorry for laughing about it. it's true that a lot of places such as korea don't teach ppl about cultural appropriation that's why these stuff happens. reminders are indeed crucial to reduce the ignorance but hate on the boys would be too much. 🙏🏻(and why is mnet setting them up like this 💀)
