My Dad was a cement finisher. It wasn't practical for him to wear his either. I proudly have his band now. I miss him so much.
My son just turned 17 and swore in for the delayed entry program for the marines. I can't believe it. I was 18 when I got pregnant with him and hes less than a year away from that.

I used to be a mechanic too, bro. I haven't worn my ring since day 1. Catching my finger between a bellhousing and an engine when it slips is the last thing I want to experience.

My husband proposed to me on my birthday 9 months after we got together on the riverbank while we were fishing because that's what I wanted to do for my birthday to my surprise earlier that day while I was spending time with my family he had taken a sheet and some candles down to the river and hid them and later that night while we were fishing he said that he was going to get some firewood next thing I knew he was grabbing me by the hand and leading me up the bank to a sheet laid out on the sand with candles around it we lie down on the sheet and I didn't know that there was going to be a meteor shower that night he proposed to me during the meteor shower and he used a ring out of a bubble gum machine to this day I still have the ring he has replaced it with a wedding set but the bubble gum ring is still my favorite I love that ring and I will cherish it forever we have now been together for almost 18 years and have two beautiful and amazing kids together and our love is stronger now then it ever was then

It hasn't for my ex-husband and who is a father to 9 kids(that we know of), four of them being mine. He hasn't been in any if their lives nor does he help provide for any of them. He doesn't even ask about his kids when he calls , it's only to harass me for my money that comes from my military disability check.
For me when and if we do my bf is gonna do dog tags for our love. I don't like super flashy rings. Which we will have just not super flashy but the engagement ring will be replaced by a dog tag. I tend to be quite simple. For me it's not about the money or cost of something it's about the thought and what my preference is.

@@TormentedVet_Reactions It's definitely something we've talked over about. Late night conversations tend to get deep for us. It's something I want. As I have a love for dog tags. My graduation instead of a ring since our school had options my parents got me a gradation dog tag. I have a big love for the military. Even in the midst of planning a veteran superhero comic book which when I get a channel going the people can help pay the artist so that all proceeds made by the comics can go to helping out vets.
The government is treating and ignoring vets if they don't help then as God's my witness I will. Even have a vet in mind for the first one. It's a man I wish was my father and I do consider him as one. He even considers me like a daughter.
Our vets deserve better. So I'll help them especially the homeless vets.
