      I purchased the Charvel Warren DiMartini “Snake” paid a fortune for it; no case was disappointing in such an expensive guitar. I was not impressed at all with Charvels choice of hardware on a high end signature guitar other than the Seymour Duncan pick-ups. Just an opinion. I think my 20’ Ibanez RG 550 (NP) is a much nicer guitar for a grand! The RG 550 is by far my favorite and nobody’s gonna change my mind on that!#Charvel#Ibanez#RG#550#🎸🤘🏻🔥@IbanezGuy88

    I have the exact same guitar. It came from my local GC set up perfectly. These guitars are incredibly awesome for the money. I got mine on sale for $800 and I got them to throw in a $120.00 Roadrunner hardshell for free with it. Couldnt believe that. I'm overjoyed with the guitar. I've been an Ibanez guy for 20 years and I'm really happy I made the change. Of course it's all personal preference.

    In case anyone missed what a "no load" tone pot is...with the tone pot rolled off at zero, it is then essentially taken out the circuit so there is no signal resistance between the pickups and the amp output caused by the tone pot. In other words, it's totally bypassed and therefore doesn't affect output.

      This guitar sounds fantastic low-gain and clean. The switching is really great for cleaner sounds. Lots of distinct tones. I am not a high gain player, I was using these more than my strats for clean chord work when I had them

    • @theariesexperiment4642
      @theariesexperiment4642 Před 2 lety +1

      You would be correct. What you've heard is absolutely true. When I got mine I was at Guitar Center just browsing and drooling over PRS and CS Gibbys. Then suddenly I hear what I thought was a Strat with all that gorgeous glass associated with that instrument. I walk over to the individual playing just to see what it is was,...and I was floored at what I saw. A Charvel!!??!!?? After he hung it back up I pounced. In short,....I walked out with it for $889.00 with Roadrunner HS case.🥳 I was thrilled. So the first I did,...with the money I saved by haggling,...was install a staggered set of Graphtech Ratio tuners, an F-Tone Big Brass block with brass screws and claw. And the F-Tone coated springs. These are the only appointments in my estimation that keep this guitar from being hundreds more. These upgrades created an absolute monster. I cant emphasize enough just how good these guitars are. I have a 2015 SoCal as well that I adore,...but the DK 24 now gets the nod no matter the situation. Versatile is an extreme understatement. You will not be disappointed. And I didnt mention this,...but it has the most comfortable neck I've ever played. The guitar will literally cover any genre. This guy DOES NOT do this guitar justice. He wants it to be something it's not. He is a shred head. If your into all genres like me??? This is your huckleberry.The only thing I'd recommend in the tuning stability department,...is nut sauce. That cures any and all issues. "Bang for buck" champion hands down. You can nab a used one for around $700. That's a steal for what it is. Have a good one my friend. And happy hunting.

    • @bmann792
      @bmann792 Před 3 lety +1

      Buy a Jp15. The neck is what you’re thinking. The majesty doesn’t have a roasted maple neck. The sterling Jp15 even has the same neck. That is comparable to the charvel and the build quality on the sterling is phenomenal.

      i like the overall feel of the charvels body tbf. I’d say the only thing i preferred with the sterling’s was the colour options. Stays in tune better than the stock fender trem but its never prefect, a little lube on the nut can help but unless ur gonna go double locking u will always have these issues with any none locking trem. For me i dont mind as i can change tunings on the same guitar. My floyds are setup to the one tuning and never change. I played the dk24 its a great guitar neck is unbelievable. • @IbanezGuy88
      @IbanezGuy88  Před rokem

      I'd say they are pretty equal, but really depends on your style of playing and what features you want. Overall, the RG has more stable tuning but some people don't like the square heel for the higher fret access.
      The Charvel has a thin neck just like the RG but the 2 point trem can cause minor tuning issues if you try to go in extreme dive bomb mode.

  • @jaytee6960
    @jaytee6960 Před 2 lety

    so the locking tuners don't really lock in the tuners or have I got that wrong? (after moderate dive bombing)

    • @IbanezGuy88
      @IbanezGuy88  Před 2 lety

      The locking tuners keep the strings from moving inside the tuners, and allows for a quick restring.
      That way you don't have as may wraps on the top like normal, you pull the string through the top with little to no slack and lock them in!
      The main variables for tuning problems could result from the bridge, improper nut slots, and no lubrication in those friction points.
      It's possible to keep these in tune. If you've played guitars with Floyd's and locking systems, you just need to adjust, and keep an eye on tuning :)

    • @IbanezGuy88
      @IbanezGuy88  Před 4 lety +4

      I feel like the Charvel neck profile would have been something Ibanez should have put on the AZ. The heel on the Charvel beats the Ibanez AZ IMO. What's interesting is the fact Ibanez did create a AANJ that's on the J Custom series that's close to the Charvel heel. I would say if possible play both though as the AZ has stainless steel frets and the hyperion pickups have a unique sound to them. Some online retailers will allow returns with free shipping if you don't have access to either guitar in person.

      @jazznotes3802 Před 3 lety

      orlando gonzalez Yep, that’s what I did. I bypass the string trees altogether, by running my strings above them. No need for staggered tuners at all!
      I use the stock string (I think 9s to 42) and it’s at the perfect brake angle, all the string practically slant at the same angle. (Low E string just millimetre lower)
      This with “Big Bends Nut Sauce” applied to all the string contact points and tuning stability is insane for a none locking trem.
      I can dive bomb, do flutters the lot and it always stays within a fraction short of perfect tuning. Amazing guitar!

      1) Does it go out slightly/moderately of tune after an hour of playing, including whammy bar usage and bending or annoyingly/heavily out of tune with a couple of bends and whammy tricks?
      2) Do all the strings go out of tune or the usual suspects G and low E?

Whammy obviously exacerbates it though 2) Usually the G string is the worst but yeah if I play for a long time, more than one can go out All the strings have gone out (not necessarily at the same time) since I got it but I think that might be intonation based 3) No, not yet, and I’m counting on those to work. I think it’s possible that I could’ve got a dodgy model that really should’ve been in B stock because I’ve not seen any other complaints that reflect my experience. It’s such a nice guitar though I genuinely have zero complaints aside from the tuning and intonation issues (albeit huge issues) but the playability is ridiculously good even without a set up.

      Thanks for the reply man.
      From what I have read online, lubricating the friction points (bridge, nut, string trees) is the easiest and cheapest method to get results from, so definitely give it a try. Next solution would be to bypass or completely remove the string trees. From here on the solutions become more expensive, such as getting new tuners (sprezel staggered tuners), replacing the bridge saddles with locking ones (wilkinson), or replacing the whole bridge. Before going into any of the expensive solutions though, give your guitar to a luthier and tell him/her to do a full setup and to check your nut and tremolo setup. Many tuning issues come from a badly cut nut.
      Best of luck to you man!

  • @bluwng
    @bluwng Před 2 lety

    Guitar needs to stop saying Tremolo and thinking the Bridge determines tuning stability, it’s an entire system and setup matters. Realistically a Vibrato bridge is just a plate of metal that pivots on 2 posts, it’s a hinge, all the work is being done by the strings and springs. Setup matters, if you set while diving, the you beat the bridge to hell for hours the only thing it cares about is how you end, if you end with a dive then in tune, if you bend then you are flat if you up pull then you are sharp. You can also tuning by bending strings or doing an up pull.

      Yes correct, this review was made after that particular video. I still address it has issues if you use the trem heavily because it's the nature of it's design. I don't want that to be the main focal point as the guitar overall is built extremely well.

  • @bluwng
    @bluwng Před 4 lety +3

    To random on trem test. If you bend all non locking will go flat , if you then tune then it won't go flat but if you pull up sometimes dive it will go sharp. Let us say you pull up and tune then you will stay in tune pulling up but not bending or diving. If you dive , same story. Moral of story, you can have one but never all, the manufacturer, material, type makes no difference, the same rules of physics apply. The same design made by angels and out of titanium will still follow the same laws
