They are evolving constantly , they were amazebags then and are totally awesome now, never ever have I felt so connected to a band their music, their lyrics their energy thanks to the whole band
I ran in here In the attic, in the middle of a tornado I watch the wind tear the orchard Tree by tree, lay them gently down again Cities that used to shine like El Dorado Now it's sleeping like a Shadow And I can't wake it up again Stars above you used to shine in roads Now nothing knows quite where it goes And I can't get to sleep again I lay in here In the attic, in the wind of a tornado I watch the wind tear the walls in And all the animals, never feel so low again Cities that used to shine like El Dorado Now it's sleeping like a Shadow And I can't wake it up again Stars above you used to shine in roads Now nothing knows quite where it goes And I can't get to sleep again Stars above you used to shine on cue Now they're acting a bit confused And I can't make them shine again
He was younger and had a slightly different singing style, but it's definitely him. I do miss this, I wish all their songs weren't so HUGE, where he practically has to shout the song. I miss the gentleness of their first songs. Listen to Virgin Mary Highway, Winter for a Year and Maps if you're still unsure.
I have an aunt did heroin, meth, and xanax. She is in a mental hospital right now. I now how you feel. Hope you better then 6 months from now. So for your loss. Peace
@PucksGothicUmbrella Well, this demo was from before the Funeral (or even Arcade Fire LP) band lineup was established. Most of the members who played on this aren't even a part of the band any more. I'm not even sure if Regine was on-board at this point. There's someone who sings lead on 2(?) of the songs on the demo who founded Arcade Fire with Win but left a year or two later. That's also probably the reason they never play any of these songs live (or some rights issues... idk) I don't think they could do much to recapture this sound at this point. Plus Win says that they like to kind of reimagine the band from the ground up with each album, so I don't think they'd try to do it anyway.
@oXMistressLolaXo I totally agree! I cannot for the life of me understand why this wasn't a major 'hit'. I heard it on the CBC with the band being interviewed, sold me on them in 3 verses...
anymore tracks of their older songs let me know, im not keen on new stuff, I saw them two years ago in Glasgow and got albums, ie suburbs, neon bible, and funeral
nighttimehuntress Headlights Look Like Diamonds. Put Your Money On Me. Burning Bridges. To name a few. If you like and want more I’d be happy to oblige. Cheers!
This Arcade Fire is better than the hip-hop/ Caribbean influenced Arcade Fire of the last few years. But Win wants to be popular so bright outfits and face paint and other things that say "look at me" are apparently necessary.
tony ca I do respect that they are willing to change and experiment w/ their music from album to album. I do agree w/ you though, w/ the exception being The Suburbs album (that is their pinnacle album to this point). But damn is this song good. Cheers fellow AF fan!
I kind of miss this softer Arcade Fire
there's also cars and telephones, accidents, sonata, cold wind, and burning bridges/breaking hearts.
all those songs are my favorites even Winter for a year, those songs are nostalgic

Reporting from 4 years from when this was written that it’s still true. 😛
I ran in here
In the attic, in the middle of a tornado
I watch the wind tear the orchard
Tree by tree, lay them gently down again
Cities that used to shine like El Dorado
Now it's sleeping like a Shadow
And I can't wake it up again
Stars above you used to shine in roads
Now nothing knows quite where it goes
And I can't get to sleep again
I lay in here
In the attic, in the wind of a tornado
I watch the wind tear the walls in
And all the animals, never feel so low again
Cities that used to shine like El Dorado
Now it's sleeping like a Shadow
And I can't wake it up again
Stars above you used to shine in roads
Now nothing knows quite where it goes
And I can't get to sleep again
Stars above you used to shine on cue
Now they're acting a bit confused
And I can't make them shine again
This is my favourite Arcade Fire song... actually it might be my favourite song period... it almost seems like it was written just for me

Regine on drums!
wow
Proof of Neil Young influence right here...
I see why you like it. It's really good. I never heard a song they did that I did not like. I'm serious.
That's a good songwriter for you.
Still can't find a song of theirs I don't care for.

Wow, alright. I didn't think it was possible to dislike Arcade Fire, but you proved me wrong. Have fun listening to Nickelback.
Sounds a whole lot like In The Backseat, in my opinion.
....we’re We Used To Wait :)
@bruthaflo Have to disagree but Kudos on the hilarious comment!! Hahahaha
kicking heroin today bleh :( but i guess its time
Conner Bannon hey friend, I hope it worked out.
it sounds like freelance whales.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Troubadour Group like the Bob Dylan.

I think the same :(
Anthony Orduno it's all good sir
just no, man
I think it's all amazing, they are one of those bands who can put out anything and have it be amazing
