I think K’Sante’s weapons transforming should have been a passive. As you fight more, they break more and you go from less tanky to more damaging. Back off, and it regenerates into what it was, but you don’t control it. This places a lot of importance on how long you should engage in a fight as the longer you’re in, the stronger you get, but the more risk you take. A simple but unique mechanic.

Gnar's transformation is interesting because it requires you to actually adjust your play around it in order to change when you want to
Having K'sante function in a similar way would not only add depth to his gameplay, but lean into his personal story about learning to become more mindful and calculating as a warrior

That's definitely a more creative way to implement his transformation but it doesn't solve the core issue. Not really that much changes in his gameplay. It's more like Aatrox with his ult. Yes, his ult definitely makes him way more threatining but he still just tries to hit you with his Qs that are in the same pattern.
The whole gimmick of transformation champions is that there is a clear and important difference beetwen what the champion can do in both forms that has to be considered by both the player who plays the champion and the ones that play against the champion

He's dmg numbers are "reasonably" high enough that he doesn't need to build dmg items excluding Demonic Embrace. That's why most Udyr players you see are tanky mfkers that will run you down and burn you with phoenix and sunfire and staying healthy using ram stance.
There are still Udyr players that do build full dmg ad or ap but they are squishy and won't really last if they get focused in a fight since he can handle at least 2 at a time while completely obliterating the other one with % max health dmg from Bear stance or Phoenix stance.

But then you kneecap his flexibility in neutral, making him unviable in either low or high ranks depending on the execution of that mechanic. Generally speaking, being able to do a mini-brazil is a thing you need available at any time, otherwise he’d get focused down when he reaches 100 stacks of fragile tonfas. His main point is that he’s a DPS assasin that isn’t useless in obj fights and a tank that doesn’t have to rely on stupid amounts of health, DR and quirks to survive (Mundo, Ornn etc.). This makes him basically a tank that’s resilient to the %max health damage characters like Fiora and Vayne, he shreds max health stats to get vamp.

    8:54-9:51 there it is.
13:01 for this I agree on this too.
    Here's my version:
P-The beast's Regerating blades: K'sante begins with a heavy defense, but breaks it down when he takes/applies damage. When out of combat the Nfotos will heal overtime.
Upon reaching that reaching 0, his Nfotos become shattered, Gaining increased MS, and AD but Reduced Resistances and health, can choose to go all-out from here.
the heal overtime for your health, defense resistences and Passive bar will go on cooldown instead, until he starts healing the Nfotos for 50% of their health.
Dauntless Instinct: K’Sante’s damaging abilities mark enemies hit for a short duration. Reducing their physical/magical defense(20%), Attacking a marked enemy consumes the mark dealing damage plus max health physical damage.
All Out: The Resistance Reduction becomes Armor reduction(15), Mark consumption deals additional Physical damage and grants AS(4% up to 30%), Every second AA deals additional Magic damage.
Q-Ntofo Strikes: K’sante slams his weapon, dealing physical damage in a small area infront of him and briefly Slowing targets hit(40%).
If an enemy is hit, K’Sante gains a stack for a short duration. changing his next strike, K'sante slams next to him to his left or right(depending on aim) dealing physical damage, then Pushing any enemy hit infront of forward, any he didn't are pushed aside. At 2 stacks, K’sante will fire a shockwave infront of him in 2 Lines, that deal physical damage and Pulls enemies toward him. at the end creates a shockwave in the middle that deals magic damage, Stuns enemies hit and heals K'sante for 3% of his max health for every enemy champion hit(0.5% for minions,1% from monsters, 2% from legendary)
    All Out:
Second Strike: K'sante slashes at his sides, first his left then his Right, dealing Physical damage and healing him(10% of his missing health) on his left, magical and Slows(40%) on his Right, if an enemy is already slowed, cripple them instead.
Third strike: K'sante Stabs both of his blades forward, dealing Physical damage and pulling the enemy hit toward K'sante, if the enemy was marked deal additional magical damage and heal(90+ 70% of his Resistances) K'sante.
This ability’s cooldown is reduced and slow is lowered targets hit(20%).
    W: Path maker:
Charge: K'sante shield himself infront, becoming unstoppable infront of himself and Gaining 50% tenacity while in it and gaining 40% damage reduction. Heavy Regerating blades takes less of a beating.
Release: Depeding on how much damage he's gained he either dashes forward while carring any enemies infront forward or he smashes them together realesing a shockwave on the ground, Slowing, lowering resistences, dealing max health Magic damage and leaving Steady ground on the ground.
Steady ground when affected by Nfoto Strikes it creates a quake on the ground knocking all targets hit in the area closest to K'sante and silences everywere else.
Steady ground affected by the Dash are moved asside creating walls around K'sante he can break down with AAs, realsing projectiles upon breaking.
Steady ground affected by Footwork enhance K'sante's shield and shields all allies around it with Rocks the reduce their damage taken, before exploding around them dealing magic damage and slowing all targets hit.
All-Out: Refresed upon achieving it, Unstoppable is removed instead leaving 70% tenacity, deals additional Physical damage based on charge time, the cast Speed is increased for the dash and Shockwave.
dash he moves forward passing targets instead and gaining MS depending on targets hit and AS(20%).
the Shockwave damages around K'sante instead and deals magic damage, stuns targets nearby K'sante, slows everyone else.
E: Footwork: K'sante Slowly dashes in a direction, applying affects to those he passes, Enemies are slown and crippled, allies are shielded and Removed from slows, can't go over walls.
every hit from Nfoto strikes, Path maker and champion damage taken reduces the cooldown by 1.5 seconds.
    All-Out:
Passive: realeses a protection wave around himself that applies and amplies(30%) any champion around himself every time he lands an ability on an enemy.
Active: Dash speed is increased, he only grants a shield to himself and kicks any enemies he passes through, dealing Physical damage and crippling them if they have been slown recently.
    R: Built to go all-out.
Passive: increase the damage from Dauntless instinct, additionally have it explode in an area, and healing back up your shield also heals you based on recently taken/dealt damage.
Active: Upon your Nfotos breaking this unlocks, Launching an enemy champion/Monster back, upon hitting a wall they're launched over it.
Using it on Legendary Monster has K'sante break his Nfotos and launch a heavy wave forward cutting the down the Beast, dealing 15% Missing health True damage and granting K'sante to deal additional magic damage for 5 seconds.
All Out state: Reduces bonus armor, and bonus magic resistance. K’Sante gains attack damage, omnivamp, and transforms his abilities.

What if it had a forced power up similar to Gnar, if he is lvl6 then when he drops below 60%-55% health he is able to activate his ult, however if he is below 30% in a 1v1 (for example) his is forced into to the higher dmg form.
This would mean that he would be able to stay a tank in team fights but when he if fighting only one other enemy champion is forced to do higher dmg when low health as a flight or fight response.
I feel as if there would need to be some adjustments to the ability however, I would like to hear other ways this concept could be adjusted.

Too many times someone will get ahead vs k'sante (me), and get a bit to cocky too closer to tower and I'll knock em under and I'll kill them and just completely reverse the lane. Pls read this i think it's a really good idea. Introducing Weapon Health which regenerates quickly and even quicker out of combat. Using certain abilities and AAing he is breaking the Ntofos (depleting his Weapon Health). Reaching thresholds from depleting or regenerating his Weapon Health, the Ntofos transform to heavy blunts, all-round swords or daggers. If he were to break his weapons completely he gains bonus move-speed but cannot use abilities and has to wait before he starts regenerating the weapons. Essentially like Rumble but has 3 stages, his abilities don't get stronger but different, his special bar regen isn't stalled when using an ability, and when depleting his special bar he has shorter non-function window but begins in stage 3.
    Passive - Weapon Health
    - lose resistances based on missing health, gain bonus AD based on the amount of lost resistances
R - willingly break his weapons: deplete 1 stage worth of Weapon Health and increase Weapon Health regeneration for a short duration. No cooldown no cost.
Blunts - Q has longer cooldown but has much wider area, both regular cast and 3rd
    - W deals no damage however blocks all damage and absorbs projectiles coming from a direction. Similar to Braum E. Blocking builds a lot of weapon damage
    - E gains a bit bigger shield and can choose to only shield himself or an ally
    Swords - his All out
Daggers - Q is a short stab with much more damage, no slow and 3rd Q is with a dash but no knock-up (kinda like Yone without the wind sh*tting)
    - W dash has no wind-up but doesn't reduce damage
    - E stays the same as his All out however with a passive: when you gain a shield, absorb it to regen some damage your weapons took
all abilities don't reset when changing forms retaining their current cooldown

The Azir soliders model aren't the best but are still a good basis for making an armor warrior and you got tons of armored warrios for ascend to work off of (plus tons of Egyptian mythology to use to make a trio of Egyptian mythology inspired characters). A more creative way to approach this would be, instead of his R being his transformation method, it is instead a steadily changing effect based on whether he is playing more aggressively or more passively. To elaborate:
His ntofos are a regenerating weapon that can be broken to be jagged and sharp before naturally returning to a blunt state after a certain amount of time. Make his default tank, like it is now, and then as he uses Q he builds up charges that convert a certain amount of his tank stats into skirmisher stats, as his ntofos break and become sharp. When he quits striking with his ntofos, that charge is reduces over time and he'll lose his damage output again with his tank stats also returning.
The strategy to beat him would then be a matter of exploiting his vulnerable moments. For example, if he's spamming Q to farm, his defenses will drop and you can exploit that moment to take initiative and get the first hit. If he tries to come for you with the Q, letting it hit early and then dodging/defending once his damage ramps up mitigates his strong point, and then you can counterattack once he's exhausted his resources trying to use that power.

after playing him for a little while I can say that he's definitely very fun as a champ, but yeah I totally agree with all of the comments saying that his ntofos should have a durability bar instead of just pressing r
kinda like how samira needs her max style grade to use her ult, I feel like it would be a lot more interesting if you could only activate his ult once the ntofos reached 0 durability and they shatter, only leaving the weapons behind, and then they regenerate durability out of combat
it wouldn't change too much about him already but it would definitely add a bit more spice to his ult and then I think he would shine a bit brighter, since I guess one of the fun things about his ult already is knowing when the best time to activate it for the best results, so putting him in a position where he can't ult whenever he chooses but rather when he's reached a state in which going all out becomes an option only when his weapons are exposed would generally fit his lore more and be more interesting
it might look a little bit strange to have his weapons actually "exposed" while he retains his tanky ability forms and lower damage, so maybe activating his ult actually shows the ntofos breaking like he does in his trailer, but regardless I think he shouldn't be forced into skirmisher form when his ntofos reach 0 durability like some people are saying. him choosing to go all out would make sense logically to be a conscious choice-- he can choose to play defense until the very end, or he can choose to throw himself at the enemy with everything he's got in one last all-out burst of power

Honestly, I think it would have been better if K'Sante's "All-Out" form was actually just a part of his passive instead. They made it clear that he gains the bladed forms to his Ntofos via literally breaking them from the blunted form, and that it's capable of regenerating back. (Which makes no sense in its own bs magical logic, but that's beside the point.) I think it should have been that he would gain the swap in both stats and weapon when his healthbar crosses the threshold that they decided to put for his R, instead. This way his gameplay only slightly changes when low on health, similar to how Kled gets dismounted from Skarl when low as well.
His weapons would be capable of regenerating back to the tank form after regaining health past that threshold of course via the omnivamp he gains from "All-Out" and other outside healing sources. It would be a constant flip-flop between the weapon forms depending on how much health he has, and you can still build around playstyles for both forms. One example would be like having him play as a fighter with bladed form who wants to stay near low hp, sort of like how Warwick and Olaf become more dangerous the lower hp they are, with possible healing item options like goredrinker to keep him sustained in the fight. Or you could build him as peeling tank with health and armor items to stay in blunt weapon form for as long as possible to keep the cc in his abilities like the slows and stuns.
I think the only problem with this though is that you wouldn't exactly have much choice in *when* you want to play either weapon type, but considering the examples in this video of other champs who change form willingly or not like Gnar and Jayce, it would at least be a bit more fun to play around rather than just "Press R and do more damage for a little while." Especially since the range for his R to activate is so short you have to practically already be on top of an enemy to even give you access to that other half of his kit and power budget.

I feel like, to build on Skooch’s stuff, it would’ve been nice if K’Sante’s transformation had stages and maybe his tank stats would work similar to how Pyke handles health. A brief example of what I mean:
K’Sante passive could be: At 66-100% hp KS’s health and resistances act 100% as you expect. At 33-66% there’s a conversion where some bonus health converts to AD. At 0-33% the health to AD stays in effect but now his resistances get partially converted to lethality. This shows that as his weapons get more broken, he gets more damaging and lighter and can penetrate armor better. At each threshold his basic abilities have altered variations
Q: Tier 1-it’s like it is naturally. I don’t recall the specifics. Tier 2-he loses the slow but now applies brittle. Tier 3-lose brittle but break shields and the third strike becomes a targeted lunge.
W: T1-stays the same. T2-instead if a knock can he flings like Singed. T3-lose hard cc but gain a high AD ratio on the dash and heal based upon the enemy’s missing hp.
E: T1-same. T2-can now dash over walls, if dashing to allies. Also the shield that the ally gains is reduced if dashing through a wall. T3-dash through walls at will. No longer grant shields to allies. Briefly taunt enemies that you dash through.
R: going all out will do the same wall thing and pushback, but will now move you down 1 transformation tier. T1->2->3. Meaning your transformation isn’t static and you have to decide if you ult now or wait until you naturally go down 1 tier. If in T3, going all out will grant movement speed that will decay over 8-10 seconds
Idk I don’t have 200 years but this is just a rough idea of how I think transformation could be done in an interesting way. Give it stages and complexity. Granting him multiple completely new abilities would be a lot to learn, but multi-stage abilities haven’t been pushed pass 2 stages

I thought up a few changes for K'sante that seem minor enough that Riot would be able to implement that still change his playstyle.
Q: Base Form, K'sante's Q3 pushes people, instead of working as a pull. In All Out, Q works as it already does.
E: Base Form is unchanged. All Out removes the ability to dash to allies, replacing it with the ability to dash to enemies. If cast on an enemy, it loses the shield, but empowers his next auto, giving it a 30% slow.
The idea is that his Q in base form exists as a peeling tool. The E change on the other hand gives his skirmishing even more sticking power to enemies while removing the ability to either save a nearby ally or use them as a get-away tool.

    • @stellasilverr
      @stellasilverr Před rokem

I like the Q idea, especially when looking at his Q3 animations between forms-- the normal Q3 animation is him slamming the ground, while the All-Out Q3 animation is him digging the ground up towards him. It also definitely makes sense thematically because while he's tanky, he shouldn't need to engage, but when he's all out, he wants to be on top of his enemies.
For E I also like the idea though I don't think he needs another slow or auto empower (especially considering that his all out form removes the slow from his Q, and his autos already get empowered by his passive) but rather I could see it making sense if he got a short burst in movement speed. It fits thematically as well because in his tanky defensive form, he wants to stay protected with his shield and being able to peel back to allies, but in his all out form he puts everything into finishing his enemies. Not to mention that the ability is called Footwork.

Just think about him not just being a normal buff human but a buff, demigod, human Lion.
Like a human with lion Traits walking bipedal and with a Lion head and his Ntofos would just look way to cool! Like Ksanta The Pride if nazuma would fit even better, if you remember, that a pack of lions is called a pride. 🦁

I think it would've been really cool if he was like King Arthur in Smite, he has 6 abilities, but he alternates between 2 sets of 3 every time he uses one, with each of them doing something similar to each other in each form while still being different enough to justify cycling through them. K'sante could have a dash that gives a shield in the base form, but the swapped form could give a speed boost or extra attack speed. The slam strikes could change the final strike between stances, like the base stance doing what it does here and in the blade form instead to a sweeping cone of damage.

once its all deplated he goes all out
it could also make way to give him two ults based on if hes all out or base form.
maybe he could also go all out when low hp? idk honestly just anything to make the gimmick more interesting and less "ult to block your health and empower abilities"

I sad that already under Skootch's video, but the more interesting way to handle this would be his weapons getting damaged when hitting enemy champions during combat, so they eventually break during prolonged combat, leading to the switch and they then reform out of combat.
This would put more depth into how his kit functions ad how he has to chose his battles.

Personaly I think all out mode should have more acces points, like don't get me wrong having a "stance change" locked behind a displacement ult is not ideal.
furthermore its 20 seconds only after the wall dash part happened, so if you miss the wall (or get janked out by collision detection) you waste your only change oppertunity.
I don't know how broken or fine it would be but adding a short all out to the W if you "block" a strong/CC ability (strong impact breaks the tonfas) for a shorter time, but use the all out property of the ability, no stun in that case, like a reverse Fiora parry.

When R3ave firstly said he would switch between blades and blunt weapons i thought it would be something like Gnar where after X ammounts of attacks his N'Tofos would break and reveal the blade inside for a limited time before the hide regenerates. The biggest flaw for me was the lack of creativity when it comes to his "Now i protecc" and "Now i attacc" forms.

I feel like an interesting transformation gimmick could’ve been having him transform every time he used a basic ability (but still putting that ability on cd as in if you form A q, form B still won’t have q). Not sure if something like this would work with K’sante but I think it would be an interesting concept for a combo character who has to decide what order to use his abilites based on the form change.

i think is fine-ish that K'sante has a simple cast paradigm for his Q, some of the other champs to a lesser extent. Those straight line shots are supposed to be simple dps boosters that are cast VERY often and they exist within kits that also tend to have a lot of other stuff going on at the same time. u don't wanna have to make the players make too many intense decisions over whats almost a 2nd basic attack.
Same deal with K'sante's R. His basic kit already has a ton going on, u press Q 3x, and W 2x. the base kit essentially has 5 abilities, so increasing complexity further wouldn't be ideal when his 1st kit already has "this many words"

  • @amargasaurus5337
    @amargasaurus5337 Před rokem

A more All-Out defined K'sante could be achieved by two simple changes, applied in R-form only:
    • Instead of applying CC to it's target, 3rd Q grants bonus movement speed and hooks K'sante to the first target hit
    • Instead of granting him defense, W marks enemies hit, increasing the damage they take from his other abilities.
The idea would be to rid him of his defensive power in all out mode, while trading CC for rushdown potential

  • @Draco0100
    @Draco0100 Před rokem

I havent finished the video, but I think people didnt mind champs this year because theyre alot more balanced than we gave them credit for
Zeri was broken not because she was overloaded, but because the way her kit interacted with items was so strong that riot couldnt find the right place for her while not nerfing her to the dirt or making those items irrelevant.
Renata has 2 great abilites, and 2 dud abilites while being relatively high ceiling for a class that generally has a low floor therefore a good Renata is an issue, but a bad one is easy to deal with.
Belveth was relatively strong, but like master yi, she is a feast or famine jungler for 30 minutes before shes noticably a monster. Her kit also puts her in between 2 play styles.
Nilah was broken on release, then nerfed and slowly faded away as people realized shes actually only an issue from ahead because 9/10 lanes she will have to play back do to being melee.
This years champs simply did not make as many waves as they could have bar zeri even though all of them had nuts mechanics
    Atleast imho

I think it would've been better if K'sante's transformation worked like a combination between Gnar/Klad passive and Sett's W.
It's even easier to flavor: the tonfas are coated in a hardened rocky layer (tank form), but that rock chips away as K'sante strikes enemies and absorbs attacks. When the rock is fully chipped away, only the blades are left, and K'sante is now "All Out."
The rocky layer regenerates while out of combat. Easy.

I think his tranformation gimmick would have been so much cooler if it interacted with one of his base abilities. I.e., the more he slams his weapons, the sharper they get. The more he is in a fight, the more damage he does, but the less defense he has. This would also encourage a "warmogs playstyle;" get in, do some damage, but get out and get your defences back before going in again.
That's what I thought they were going to do with him and although he's alright how he is now, I think he could have been so much cooler.

When he was initially leaked we were told his weapons could shatter and reform again. I was really hoping he'd work like Elise/Jayce/Nidalee and be a new transforming champ or have some transforming gimmick similar to Gnar/Shyvana. I feel like having his all out stance be tied to his passive or some other gameplay mechanic rather than his ult would have been a far more interesting design maybe one where he has durability that gets reduced by hitting autos, Q's, and maybe even tanking hits with W and that causes his weapons to shatter and let him go all out, allowing him to use his ult and whatnot. Though that ult part could be different.
Riot tried to play it safe with this champ and its disappointing.

5:10 just as there are other ways to deal damage, like in a curved line like Diana, or in a wave, or from behind, or a Half circle, or a cone so on, I feel it should change for the champion's personality to make them unique, but also add some skillfull play to feel like them.
5:17 Nilah should hit in wave to represent how Unsual she is in her Happy madness but still made up as a line for her Skill, also a bonus due to water.
5:19 The area for the knock up would be the sides of the line making it a weird incaration of a stun, while showing bel'veth acting like she's as caculating as a human, despite that having weird effectiency, the Hyprocity from belveth, if she uses it while dashing it turns into a circle knocking targets up in the edge, if they were hit by the dash they get flung into the center. Extra chaos, for void based monster, despite saying shes human, she's merely a imitator, not better than, no void ever was.
5:20 This one is fine, since viego believes himself as the protaginist, he acts like it with a straighline skillshot making special in someway, when everyoneelse has it, and it's generally the most generic way to apply damage. an addition would be he can hold it for an extra 0.7 sec. to attack again realesing mist in a cone, that collects mist and applys it. I also feel this may slow him down as a skirmisher way too much, Maybe just remove the reset on his ultimate and lower his passive healing to add this, for higher risk and reward.
5:21 This works aswell, though maybe a it to basic, Maybe she should be able to strike in forward, to the side thrust, leading her focused, but also damaged mind. she's rough around the edges.
5:22 All I want for him and Yasuo is just lowering their Q healing, as thats what makes them so powerfully imbalanced.
for the way to apply, I'm not sure Maybe he swings to a side in a half circle changing which sword is used depending on position.(Physical on his left, Magical and physical on his right) I like this idea but the circle thing seems to easy, so I'll keep the thrust but the change in sword stays.
5:25 for everything else she has, this feels as it should stay as, maybe on hit effects change past just stats, like into effects:
Earth: Bounces over the enemy landing behind them Slowing all the targets hit, and dealing Physical damage, knocks up targets in the center.
Water: Splashes through the sides Slowing targets hit, dealing Physical damage and crippiling them for 1 second.
Life(grass): sprouts sparkaling bushes up in the area tosward Qiyana, she can dash into these specific Bushes, if she hits an enemy that hasn't seen her she deals additional magic damage, and slows them.
