Cassette tapes are a unique format. They'll always be cool to have/use/collect.

Really nice! Just bought a Tascam 688 on eBay after watching some of your videos and other "analog artists". It's a fantastic experience so far and I am super excited to finish and release my recordings later this year. Thanks for the inspiration and wishing you all the best with your project(s) and cassette sales! :-)

If anyone is interested, the (concept) album I recorded on my Tascam 688 will be released this November and the first track can already be heard on Bandcamp: leuenberg.bandcamp.com/album/nine-by-one

To me, there’s a certain element of commitment with it. it’s expensive and painful to put music down physically and I think it pushes a musician to put out their best work / work on something more than they may have before. Physical copies are also expensive to buy, so it makes a person a little more selective with their listening habits. Saw your reel to reel video and dig your music a lot!

Ah, my favourite song, Gotta Wipe My Balls After I Pooped. A classic.
I actually still have some old tapes I did when I was VERY little. They weren't very interesting, mostly just me pretending to be a radio host and bad recordings of video game soundtracks, complete with family talking in the background! I would love to make an album where I just let loose without any consistent theme... Maybe I'll do that now!
Your channel actually got me into 4 track recording, and as I write this my Tascam Porta One is in the mail. I'm incredibly eager to challenge my songwriting skills and to see what crazy junk I come up with! Thank you so much for being an incredible inspiration!

I genuinely like this video. That Portastudio rings A bell. I maid indie demo on that back 1990's. I wish you luck selling your tape

I appreciate your love, and thirst, for music, and recording music. You're an inspiration! Happy for you, being able to get your ideas and hard work into physical format. I definitely have an appreciation for the old school music formats. It's nostalgic.

Great job Landon! The album's fantastic and I love the explanation on why you wanted to put it out in various physical media. It definitely sums up my thoughts and aspirations on it too!

This was a really great video! It was like watching a mini documentary about your love of cassettes. It was interesting and informative. I ordered a tape. Excited to hear the full album when it gets here. :)

aw man, i did a bunch of radio shows when i was about 8 on cassettes, when i got a little older i wiped them all or tape over them out of teen embarrassment, i wish id kept them as id even an original theme :(

Good video! You just reminded me that I've recorded some songs with this type of machine in the early 2000 (I don't remember the brand maybe Roland or Tascam). I gotta find this cassette, it must be in a box at my mom's place

Great point on the fact that cassettes encourage you to listen to the entire album.
Makes them a good format for great albums... Less so for people who only ever cared for the singlez off a tape when the rest of recording was hot garbage.
    Wonderful video.

lol i saw those porcupine tree albums in there. always wondered, cause death of the american dream gave off hard porcupine tree vibes alongside the obvious floyd vibes. hella cool

LOOOL funny :D I have few tapes that I usually pick up from vintage record stores around London. Also i genuinely enjoy the sound of cassettes, providing they are a decent condition and reproduced on a good stereo (such as Tascam 112 mk2 ;-) also my fav portable player is a Sony DD2 walkman :-D. I think tapes have soul than CD and streaming lacks. I mostly listen to old-school music recorded with real instruments and minimal vocal processing (at least comapring to the present lol)... there is some magic in tape that makes the instruments and singers more realistic to me.

I got a tape deck put in a modern car. I get loads of comments and sometmes random people see me loading one and ask how I did that. I still use media due to streaming plans being confusing and expensive. I never gave up my tapes they live along with modern streaming in are house. You might like seeing the deck I got installed in my car.

I wouldn’t bothered recording synths on tape since u r adding purely digital tracks anyway. Most benefit from tape you will have on vocals, guitars, drums and base.
