How do you run so many plug ins without pro tools crashing? What computer do you use? I use a macbook pro 2015 with 16gb of ram and i7. I have max buffer size and external ssd and would never be able to run that many plug ins. If you could help I would appreciate it so much! I run my own recording studio and I always feel limited by how many plug ins I can use.

This is one of the best vocal compression videos I have watched. And I have watched dozens of them.
I dig how you're always animated and energetic in your breakdowns of your processes and explanations. It helps clarify things that would be kind of difficult to understand otherwise. We need you out there. Keep up the awesome work big brotha.!!!
Despite being a great sound engineer, he is also a great teacher.
I agree, out of all the videos I watch Devvon explains things very well and also doesn't make them sound boring
Takes intelligence to explain complex ideas in a simple way. So many tutorials just brush over the process. Thanks!
Indeed
I used to follow you really closely when I was 16, like 6 years ago. Was new to music in general and your stuff helped me through some tough times, staying excited about the world. Fast forward to now, I'm 22 and never in a million years imagined I'd be making ym own music, but I'm here now. Imagine my surprise to see that you have your own established channel as you work to build yourself up as a musician!! I can't express how amazing and inspiring finding this was for me today. Your music was always an inspiration in the past, and now as a novice making music I feel lost. But seeing how committed you are means more to me than anything on the beginning of this journey. Thank you so, so much brother🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. Keep on going!
I feel you BIG time. I'm lost out here without Devon
I appreciate you sharing this info. I love your passion for music and educating your subscribers on what you have learned. Thanks 💪🏾.

Devvon....I want to say a huge THANK YOU for doing all these amazing educational videos!! I recently purchased a new home studio and am literally sitting here with pen and pad TAKING NOTES like I'm in a college classroom! You are dropping GEMS in every video! By the time I'm done watching all your videos I'll probably have an entire folder full of notes haha! THANK YOU! Are your plugin packages available for Adobe Audition?
Even with topics I am familiar with, your incredible charisma and unique takes are always helping me learn more !

Learn so much in each video. Makes things easy to understand, and great examples. Greeeting from Denmark 😊
WOW! We always think of a compressor as something that restricts, but you use them to open up, AWSOME! THANKS!
Devon, your teaching makes me wanna be a teacher one day, I followed every process and guess what it came out even better....I've been struggling a lot with this and now I just wanna re-do all my mixing in my computer

I learned a lot here! Thank you!!
U sound like a chef! That track was fire af too
Man really liked your vocalss 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks man! Awesome and helpful video!
Wow this helped me big time. Especially with rnb type vocals in my opinion. Especially with the CLA compressor. How u could keep the dynamics a good amount with the attack and release and still good a good volume.
Extremely helpful example with the kicks. Lvl up time 🔥
Really dope tutorial g. Great job 🈹️🔴💯🔥
Awesome info thank you!!
Brooooo you been helping A LOT
I used the cla76 as the third comp. I just like the way it colors musical transients. And the first I used the rcomp to tame the sound. Sounded super sick. Thanks for the vid
Good video, you make it easy to understand for beginners. Subbed !
That was very helpful!
Great workflow!
Your videos are extremely helpful
This was awesome! Thanks
This video was amazing, I just subscribed.
Love it im new to mixing . Good stuff
Thank you! learning a lot
thank you devvon!never clicked so fast!!
This has been the most helpful compression video ive ever watched!!!!! wow this is awesome! Im taking notes. !st compressor reduces dynamic range. Second compressor adds color and character. And that third compressor is the GLUE! I love that glue!
Thanks for the tutorial 👍🏽
Great job explaining this bro. That r vox is indeed a gem for presence. I actually used it for a kick just something subtle to help the kick push through before I started mixing.🔥🔥🔥
This video opened my eyes... I learned too much compression was a big no no but what should really matter is the final product, there are so many different ways to approach a vocal and seeing someone use three compressors on just one vocal is eye opening.. In college, NOBODY will tell you to use more than one compressor, two is almost a taboo and this is what they teach in school...
the way u teach with your hand gestures is great lol salute
I remember commenting on one of Devon's first two or three videos. Congrats on breaking 100K!
love your videos!
PERFECT EXPLANATION 💯
so helpful thank u so much!

Best channel 🙏
Fantastic video. Unreal that this is free. Subbed 👌
Thanks for the advice I do this as well!
Could you please do a video on how you process background vocals and reverbs ❤️
Thank you for pushing this method. Thought series compression was becoming a lost art
Thank you sir 🙏
Solid!
Excellent Thanks
Great video Devvon!! Thank you for taking your time to do them. I have one doubt about your technique, should you use the 3 compressors always sequentially or it depends? Also, do you do subtractive and or additive eq before those 3 compressors? Thanks for your wisdom!
You and Pensado are my music idols bro ily
check out leslie brathwaite he's super cool too (lil uzi and pharrell williams engineer)
@@MattDxstined will do!
Great video !!!
You’re the best omg
Devon is the goat in YT production world. simple
Great videos, I’ve learned so much from you, thank you. After you do this serial compression, do you put a limiter at the end of your vocal chain? Thank you!
DOPE SHIEIT!
I appreciate you bro
bro, nice watch, I'm wearing the same casio calculator watch lol. cool breakdown of the multiple stages of compression
Had me singing with you bro...good ish
It’s crazy how you always are on time with you videos. Universal synchronicity. My guy
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Fr though, good tutorial Devvon 💯

Came here for compression tips left feeling emotional because of these lyrics 😭 yes the four walls was closing in on us :(
Speaking of a Compressors tone; Im amazed at the difference between the VCA's, FET's, Opto & Digital Logic Compressors that are so doggone district from one another. (Once again in Logic Pro) The use of Soft Distortion on Drums is been a life saver on the tracks that ive been making.
How is it that these Compressors sound so incredibly different from one another with some basically trashing the sound.
Noticing that out of the 7 Types of Logic Compressors there is usually one thats the proper tone for the drums.
It must have really been expensive back when in analog, if different colours & compressor tones varied so much as in Logic's representation of them
if they aren't simply exaggerated their tones?
Can you show the chain along side other plugins so that we know the order you placed the compressors
