    You forgot to mention that you're in fact building this car for your wife. That is such a nice thing to do, so it should imo be mentioned just as often (or even more often) as the phraces "I'm happy with that", and "a litlle bit". :-)

    Personnel feeling on the grill, I agree no emblems. I find I like it best black. The whole opening as dark as possible. (Keeping everything behind the grill black too, because it will show through.) Could you use/repair the original grill (ditching the '05 stuff) painting it black? If not, get a new OE style grill and make it black. (No chrome in there.) Just the black opening. To me best shows off the simple good looks of that classic Mustang front end. No clutter. Simple, clean, and aggressive look. But it's not my car. ; )

    The '05 grill does look interesting, but doesn't fit well. Try looking at a '67 stock grill. It is just like the '68 grill but doesn't have those mounting tabs. Very clean if you want the blackout look. Great job as always!

    Just some opinions on zinc plated parts. I miss cadmium plating (thanks EPA). Zinc is a sacrificial metal meaning it corrodes instead of the base metal corroding. Parts with zinc plating look good when new and then get that powdery look in a couple years (not all vehicles live indoors). Polishing with a metal polish will bring back the shine until the zinc depletes. Polished, it looks similar to chrome. A good coat of wax would probably help. I love powder paint but no one offers a color mimicking the gold or silver cadmium plating. Like the surgeon once lamented, "incisions, incisions".

    Jade is looking great. 👌 I had mixed feelings about the grill. It looked pretty mean and edgy at first glance. But something just seemed off the more I stared at it. I could have gone either way.

    I like the front grille with the lamps. Would cutting the ends and extending it out work? maybe use a piece of metal to fill the gap from the expanded metal to fill that gap

    For some reason the '05 grill looks like a '69 Camaro grill to me, kinda. I like the idea of it, and it doesn't look bad. It would probably look better if you had headlights in the car, but if you made metal closeout panels to take up the space between the grill and the grill frame/shell I think it would be too "thick." Does that make sense?

  • @DamnitUTK

    Is there a way to share pictures? Or other ideas from our projects to you? I hid two 6 inch lights behind the grill in my 67 coupe...

  • @greifill
    @greifill Před 3 lety

    The 2005 grille, with its miniature Pony emblem and fog lights wasn't such a bad idea. It's just disproportional to the grille opening and that makes it look out of place. Then again, I'm just so used to seeing only '69 Mustangs with quad headlights. That may be throwing everything off for me. Sorta like seeing the Mona Lisa with a mustache.

    PLEASE! For the love of God, do not put a Custom Auto Sound radio in that car. We deal with them at the shop I work at, and they are inferior to just about any other radio I've seen in 25 years. They are basically a $19 Malaysian or Chinese radio, with a modified face to look like a classic radio and then marked way up. I'd suggest Retrosound (their radios are much nice, and sound better) or perhaps a bluetooth amplifier. I believe Kicker and Rockford Fosgate both make something that would be work (and be a quality unit) and allow you to keep the stock radio in the dash. Then you can stream from your phone with nothing visible.
