This type of proper british grub should be sold all over the country instead of endless mc donalds, kfc etc. £5 for nutritious delicious unprocessed 'fast' food.
semi processed, cant get that cheap without some cheap ingredients.. miles better than mcshite though
Chilli and chicken curry straight out of a tin from Bookers and frozen pork with BBQ sauce dumped on it. Proper unprocessed grub that
Skins the best part of the potato, crispier the better.
Potato skins are packed with vitamins. And delicious ❣️
The only time I peel mine is for mash. Then I bake the skins. YUM ❣️
A bit of olive oil & sea salt before putting the spuds in the oven
Definitely a winner
100K......Nearly there. We're all rooting for you Gary.😎
@@GaryEatshey up mate you allowed the camera man to eat so you're gonna get that 100k this week, I would have had same as camera man and definitely eat the skin it's best bit
Gary is the David Attenborough of Food reviews...Total class!
Keep it up Gary.
Thank you Gary for a mouthwatering review. I'm a baked potato purist, with only loads of butter, skin and all. Nationwide local baked potato stands have benefited from the popularity of Spudman. Well deserved 8.5/10.
YES Brother! I'm not the only crispy skin/butter aficionado here! 😊
Interesting video particularly for me. My stepfather had a couple of jacket potato units and used to do big events and had regular contracts with racecourses. He had the only jacket potato unit inside the ground at Manchester United until health and safety ended that due to the gas bottles used to fuel the two pickwick ovens. I worked with him as a student some 36 years ago when I could. A week at Glastonbury was fun when he used to shout "hash for cash" (jokingly!) to the bleary eyed in the early hours. It's what he called " let the dog see the rabbit" and they bought. He only started the business after retiring as a head teacher in his late 50s but told me that he wished he'd have done it sooner as there is a good business to be made in the common spud. Those spuds from The Spud Man looked great and nice to see he made his own curry / chilli which we never did. The menu though is just about the same as ours all those years ago. Must be all time classics so why change? Thanks for the review Gary.
You remind me of the great Keith Floyd in that you have zero food snobbery - yes you love top-end food but you are equally happy with a jacket spud, a Costco hot dog or a bag of fish and chips. Here's to 100k - no food reviewer deserves it more.
Words cannot describe how much of a compliment that is and I used to love the great man Keith Floyd, a legend and that's very kind
I still love re watching any Floyd programme . He was truly invested in using quality product's to make approachable meals for home cooks . I think your reviews fit into the same category 🎉🎉🎉
There are vitamins in the potato skin so I always eat it and prefer it crisped up. The food portions were huge and home made so it deserved a high score.
I believe Spud Man does some great charity work too.
You know what, There will be a day when Gary has obtained so many subs and comments on the daily that it'll be difficult to respond to them all. However, you thoroughly deserve it, Gary. Such a natural channel, nothing over the top of ridiculous, said how it is as it is. If you ever make a trip to Scotland, there's a place in Falkirk called "Three Little Pigs" that has absolutely astonishing food, from burgers to hot dogs to Mexican-based things. Top tier recommendation.
A very kind comment Beany thank you. I’ll take a look at the recommendation. Have a lovely evening.
Your scoring system is very fair. Easy to understand, transparent and applied without favour. I like it.
No need to explain your scoring system at all. It’s by far the most fair given the fact you review all types of cuisine. Yet another top video Gary!
Yeah, I thought the score system review was a bit strange as well.
It's a food truck for gods sake.
Yeah I agree
Gary has extensive experience at this stage in the game and CAN be trusted, that’s important in a reviewer
It's not about Spudman, unfortunately I've had a lot of negative comments recently regarding how I rate things so I just wanted to explain things to everyone
You know, this makes me appreciate our resident jacket potato based food truck here in Brisbane Australia, London Spuds. They serve roast potatoes with a range of toppings in the one product, for example, they have the 'Elizabeth Taylor', which comes with the spud, pure butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon bits and garlic infused oil. Or, simply because I love Doctor Who, the 'Doctor Who' which comes with butter, piping hot baked beans, cheese, sour cream and spring onion. Basically, each jacket potato comes loaded with multiple toppings and there's several variations that you can buy, it's a bit pricey at $19.50AUD (10.27 UK Pounds), but it's a massive feed, so worth it if the truck is nearby - they are in a different location every week.
My take on Spudman from what I've seen is that I'd be a bit disappointed, it might be cheap, but it lacks a range of toppings for the each potato you can get, also, how can you not have a jacket potato without butter and sour cream? They go hand in hand!
Mmmm, need to check on price of ticket to Brisbane 😊. You need to start writing reviews . 🎉🎉
I love baked (jacket) potatoes! At home, I scoop out the flesh, mash it and add butter, salt & pepper. I put butter in the skins, fold them up and eat them. Crispy skin is the bomb! Eating out, I will sometimes get "the works" - butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits and green onions if offered. I normally scoop out the flesh and leave the skins - restaurant baked are not always great.
What a creative, easy, fun menu. It goes right back to the expression "a small menu done extremely well is better than an extensive menu done badly." Kudos to the creator of such a clever concept!😊❤
That sounds an amazing way to cook your jacket potato. I’ll have to definitely try that. I really like that combination as well. I agree he’s done really well. X
I am so glad you finally made it to see Spudman. After that roller-coaster of a ride in Ireland, to the appalling menu at Taco Belle, you certainly have experienced the highs and lows of eating food around the UK and beyond. I always believe that if a food vendor focus on one particular food item, in the case the humble jacket potato, does it extremely well, it is worth the money one pays for it. I was eagerly awaiting your review having watched two of other favorite vloggers visit this lovely town, and was not disappointed. It was certainly value for the money and looked quite tasty as well. Keep up the great work Gary, and I look forward to your further culinary adventures. Kindest regards, Anna-Marie from Pennsylvania USA!
The only way anyone should dispute your ratings, is if they are standing next to you eating it with you and even then, opinions are subjective. One experience of the same food in the same place will be different to someone else's as the quality , the taste, the service can be different one day to the next, so people, be fair to Gary! Those portions for that price is excellent. Only a matter of days Gary for that 100k! I hope you do a video when you get that plaque! We are all so proud of you and your cameraman/son.
In the late 1990s i moved to Kingston upon Thames. I was only 17, got a job at Spud U Like. Such a simple concept, 1 spud and a filling. Another great review and looking forward to you getting that 100k 🎉🎉
@GaryEats moved around a bit since, but now in the Liverpool area. You'd approve, both my kids are LFC supporters. Me not so, Leicester City for me 😁
Love a spud. My nan used to say as long as you have potatoes in the pantry you can make a meal. Very close to the 100k Gary. Well deserved 👍
(91) LOVE jacket (AKA "baked" potatoes in USA) spuds. Make a big pot of a thick stew, curry, savoury mince, ANYTHING really and serve it on a sizeable spud. I stab my spuds and give them a soak in heavily-salted water for about two hours. Then dry them off, oil them up, sprinkle with salt and bake straight on the oven rack. (I do cheat by a 3-minute head start in a microwave) Lovely upload Gary, thanks for the tag-along!!!
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment as always. That sounds delicious
@@accountnamewithheld A quick brine. Due to osmosis, the salt gets drawn into the flesh of the potato as well as extra moisture.
The range of types of foods, restaurants/takeaways and budgets is one of the reasons why your channel is so good. From michelin starred restaurants to spud vans and everything in between.
Tamworth is a beautiful city

Now, you really can't beat
Spudman. I mean it is indeed
a cheap fast food restaurant

satisfied. Worth the visit
and drive those 120 miles

Good show Gary 👍.
I think the people who criticise your assessment and scoring process really don't get what your channel is about. Not all things are equal and that has to be key to what you do. You do it very well. That's why I stick around. You're fair, honest and objective. Even when the experience is bad, you look for something positive.
By the way, those spuds looked excellent.
A lovely jacket spud with great fillings proper comfort food . Here’s to 100k this will get you there I think
Hi Gary. Here’s a great example how your reviews influence thousands of viewers. From the disaster of Taco Bell to the quality and value of Spudman.
I wonder if you and your son realise how much your efforts are valued by us all. I guess 100,000 says everything!
I really appreciate your incredible generous comment, thank you so much Christopher.
This really gives me the lift I need at times!!
I always eat the skin. Prefer it crispy or slightly overdone.. But I will eat it anyway. It's always the best bit at the end. Good value.
Daniel Coughlan (35) turned to a potato-only diet and dropped a spudtacular 40 pounds in four months. Transitioning from spud to stud, the Dubliner - who has lost a staggering seven stone off his heaviest weight - reveals how the starchy vegetable helped reignite his weight loss regime when the chips were down.
Eating only potatoes can reset your cholesterol levels to normal as well as having other health benefits!
That was an enjoyable review, Gary. Spudman deserves his excellent reputation and your patronage. He is clearly good at what he does and what he does is produce simple, wholesome, unpretentious, affordable and well executed jacket spuds with quality toppings.🥔🥔

Doesn’t he just. I was so excited when I noticed over 99k now. Well done Gary. It really is a brilliant channel.
Almost at 100k subscribers. Well earned success for you and your cameraman and the hard work you both put into your reviews. Have a great day everyone.
That’s so very kind to say thank you very much. You have a fantastic evening and see you soon
This review brought back lots of memories, being raised in the UK as a young man, jacket potatoes were a favorite of mine.LOVED the review and much credit to you for giving it a go.All we need now is a plowman's lunch review and I will be in heaven....GREAT WORK.
By way of sheer coincidence 🙃I made JPs for the family tonight after a long break. Great in the air fryer, slightly wiped with olive oil, salt, pepper and slightly spiked. 200 at 40 mins and nice crispy skin. Served with a quintessential tuna, chive, pepper mayonnaise salad…
Hey garry, the portion size is definitely excellent. Spud man actually uses one and a half potatoes per order, so it's definitely great value
Gary just wanted to say a massive CONGRATULATIONS to you and the cameraman of course to hit 100k as quickly as you have is testament to all the hard work and dedication that you shown to the channel and the professionalism and quality of content cannot be matched. You are without question the NO.1 Channel on CZcams long may your success continue on the way to 200K
Best and most honest reviewer on youtube by a mile... love the page . Keep up the good work
Combining chilli with baked potato is pure genius. Cheese just pulls it all together.
Chilli on jackets has been a thing in UK decades and decades lol
100K !!! Well done and well deserved !!! Congratulations to all involved !!!
99.8K Gary - Almost there!! Fun fact, the UK consumes more potatoes per person than my own Ireland - approx 66 kilos vs 60 annually. Great and fair review. I love that you encourage and support the little guys. Got to be honest, my own favourite topping is simply some rich Kerrygold butter and cracked black pepper. That’s it. A great potato is a superstar in its own right.
Simple pleasures. When I was in Scotland over 20 years ago we went to a pub and I had a jacket potato with baked beans. It was fantastic! Eat all of the inside first and then the skin.
Congratulations on the 100K Gary & Son. Really well deserved. Looking forward to the 250K now!
🥔jacket potato, yum, topped with either prawn cocktail or bacon and cheese, all with extra butter 💕
I love Spudman he has dialysis regularly every week and runs a successful business and works so hard. Terrific review many thanks Gary 💎🙏 cheese and beans for me with black pepper is lush
Gary you are almost at the 100,000 mark! And within your first year! Well done to you and your Son. Just a small token to buy you both a pint to celebrate such an amazing achievement. And to thank you both for providing us all with great content and reviews. Take care. Sharon. x
Thanks so much Sharon, that's incredibly kind of you. I always appreciate your feedback and do listen. It means the world to me you think highly of the channel and wish you all the best!!
My favourite jacket would have almost leather-hard skin and lots of tuna mayonnaise, with a crunchy salad on the side.
This van looks like a real asset to Tamworth. Love that you try such different establishments!
Best food reviewer on CZcams 100%. I look forward to these. Even though I'm not a fan of jacket spuds I'll still enjoy this

Great review Gary, street food something most people can afford. Keeping it real and i personally think it's the best review you have ever done and I have seen them all.

Gary , every potato looked very nice and wow , the portions , no wonder the guy does well . Hats off to Mr Spudman , great review again as always ,

Great review Gary. Much respect to Spudman. Will definitely give it try!
Well done on reaching 100 thousand. You are the only one I watch on you tube. Do not change the format. It's perfect as it is.
That’s very kind, Lesley. I will always try and keep the same format. Have a fantastic weekend.
Hi Gary, the wife and I went up to try the hype a while back and we weren't disappointed. We went to visit some friends and we all went up to try the spuds. My wife and both had one with butter and cheese, then I had one with chilli con carne and my wife I think, if I don't remember wrong, with Tuna mayo and sweetcorn. It was very well executed jacket potatoes, the fillings was really good and the portion size enormous. So we didn't eat anything for the rest of the day. The value is just amazing for what it is, as it it's quite a simple concept. But we gave it a 7.5 out of 10, due to the value and quality. Another fantastic review in the bag, mate and getting closer and closer to 100K subs and that silver button. Have a wonderful rest of your day and will email you tomorrow, found a new gem in London! 😊
I really appreciate that a lot, thank you ever so much Frank... I'll keep a look out for your email
Very close to your hundred thousand hopefully it will be today/tomorrow. Congratulations for all your hard work you deserve it.
Let’s get Gary to 100k 🎉
That's not true.

Me and the wife have been glued to this for the last 16 minutes because we love jacket potatoes. Chilli and cheese is my fav and either beans or chicken curry are hers. I like a crispy and salty skin and there has to be plenty of juice or you end up eating dry potato towards the end. There is a stand in Leamington Spa half way up the Parade who has been there for decades. The service is like you are meeting an old friend and the spuds are up there. Never been disappointed. Thanks for another great video. Next time I fully expect 100k 😉
Ah thank you so much to the pair of you, it means a lot and your choices are excellent as well. I really appreciate your lovely comment, thank you
Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! Thoroughly deserved, and keep up the great work!
Have been looking forward to this one Gary as I’ve been following Spudman on TikTok. What he has achieved and accomplished is just amazing. The British basic jacket potato and filling you wouldn’t believe how popular it is. I noticed he didn’t recognise you Gary unless it wasn’t shown on camera. Amazing portion sizes from SM. Good ole basic British food healthy and nutritious.
Can’t argue with that for £4! Brilliant value for money with portion sizes like that! 👍
Tuna red onion and mayo!
Crispy skin..the best bit! So glad you came to Tamworth to see our Spudman .....fab review!
Looks lush Gary. You are so near to 100k, come on lovey you can do it! You deserve it ❤❤
Spudman is great! ..Basically he does just one thing, but does is superbly! ... For me, I like a nice crispy skin, and chilli as a topping ... and those portions certainly fill you up! .... ..and it is getting exciting to see your subs approaching the 100k..you deserve it!!!!

The humble baked spud, so versatile and so delicious!
Love mine with fresh cooked tomatoes and cheddar, also prawns in Marie Rosie sauce.
Glad you featured them Gary.
I trust your reviews, honest and detailed. Also appreciate these further explanations on scoring. Keep up the good work!
By the next video, you should be at 100K. Things just keep looking up for this channel.
I used to work in HSBC Southampton and their canteen did a 1.95 baked potato with cheese and beans. Man alive, best lunch you can imagine. Packed full of carbs and protein. Cheapest lunch outside was 4.50.
I think this demonstrates why we should support local businesses, yes it is fast food but done well. As Gary quite rightly points out it’s homemade and that’s a skill in itself. I’m not sure if Spud-U-Like still exists but it seemed a simple idea. Good honest food at a sensible price and you will get a good following. Maybe you could do a little interview with Spudman he’s got it bang on as it were!
100k reached Gary and son, huge congratulations! So very thrilled for you and absolutely deserved.
That’s what we’re lacking over here Gary. We just don’t have them or even a 🥔 spud big enough to make one. It’s mad. Those looked massive. I think I’d give them 10 outa 10 all day long. Great as always lads. 👍
Hi Gary, almost there! Have you thought of an appropriate place to eat at to celebrate that milestone? Take a moment to savour this time, you are about to reach 100,000!!! Thanks Alan
I really appreciate that thank you and not yet... I will have something special for you next week

Thank you so much, Katrin. Both me and the camera man are really stunned. Thank you for supporting the channel and have a fantastic weekend.
Very good value from Spudman. Personally think it's mad people rave about this place for what is just a spud and frozen toppings but can't fault his marketing and portion size!
The toppings are not frozen. He makes the chilli and curry the cheese isn’t frozen
@@DJ-yl8ou ok fan boy just because he makes it doesn't mean he doesn't freeze it after
@@JohnHowlett I think your find he makes it daily and even if was frozen it’s all made fresh lol. Not a fan boy but just got my facts right.
@@DJ-yl8ouI thought the chilli and curry was out of a can from Costco? It definitely used to be.. maybe he changed it
I’m a woman of a certain age and can’t get over the portion sizes these days, I think they’re ridiculously big, who can eat that much? Every cafe sandwich, burger and takeaway portion for one could feed three and chips from a chippy could feed four - a cafe scone is the size of an elephant’s foot. Anyway, tonight I’ve had a baked potato with prawns but it was less that’s half the size of Spud Man’s and I’m satiated. Crispy skin always, cooked in microwave then blasted in the air fryer. Next time you visit spud man don’t forget your trunks, give us all a treat. Another entertaining review, thank you.
Wonderful review Gary - loving your enthusiasm. The SpudMan looks a great find for a cheap fill up. Good on them for what looks excellent food.
I knew you were going to go 8 1/2 on this one. I just felt it. Love your channel, from the USofA. Keep up the great work. I really enjoyed your trip to Philadelphia to try a cheesesteak, I was born in South Philly about ten minutes from Pats Steaks. Loved that episode! Keep up the great work! 🙋🏻♂️👍
