it's so humble of jaejoong to say “blacklisted for 14 years” as “for a few years, it was quite hard” like wdym? you've fought for your life 2/3 of your career journey 🥹 that's why SAN said that, bc no one ever feel the struggle as kpop artist as much as jaejoong and jyj members did. they even ready to give up their career and become a FARMER (they were bravely against the most powerful company SM.Ent who's got so many connection to industries and goverment) all for justice and fairness. bc of them, younger idols now didnt have to be a slave to their company ❤

14:18 It's not eyeliner. His eyes are naturally long. His eyes are his the biggest attractive point for years. He used to known as "visual shock" and "Asian Edward Cullen" back in the days. He was no makeup on the 2010 a-nation concert and he still looked amazing. Btw, he is also a great singer. He was the center and the main vocal of TVXQ. You should check out his solo albums and the older TVXQ+JYJ stuff.

9:58 Yeah, the concept is that Jaejoong isn’t told who the guests will be but he often knows of them in general that’s why he can ask questions like that. Plus he met two other member earlier and did his research. 😊
There are episodes where he can’t remember guests (vixx) or mixes them up (teentop, infinite) and it’s so awkward and hilarious 😂 the staff doesn’t help at all 😂

About the host:
His name is Kim Jaejoong and he is considered the legendary idol ❤ The reason why many people might be unaware of him is because in 2009 he and two other members of tvxq filled a lawsuit against SM for slave contracts (13 years!!), unfair treatment and unfair pay. They won, that’s why idols now can legally have max 7 year contracts. SM didn’t like that and because the company was very influential back then they completely blacklisted JYJ (the 3 members who filled the lawsuit) and no one was allowed to invite them, promote or mention. It’s has been 13 years… now Jaejoong is slowly getting back because sm isn’t so strong anymore.
Despite being blacklisted Jaejoong is a very successful idol with amazing solo albums (check out his album called WWW). He is also the richest idol right now with networth around $ 100M 🎉 (he’s very smart about money and investing).
He appears on Japanese shows a lot and is a household name there.
I would genuinely recommend learning more about him ❤

Thank you for reacting to Jaefriends eps... although you don't know Jaejoong before, but you watch the Show because of Ateez, but so happy to see more people now know about Jaejoong, at least has seen his face which till now is still blacklisted on Korean Music Shows😢

Hi Mel,
Thank you for reacting to this episode! ATZ played really well with JJ's personality. I hope they keep in contact with him and we can see them more together.
I don't know if you have recorded this before going to AAA but Jaejoong performed there (There are some fancams of Skz vibing to his songs too). He did his early songs (Mine was his debut as a solo and it was pretty much a rock song in what I think is a very japanese type of rock)
He was the original visual of dbsk/tvxq and one of the most talented vocalists of the band (all 5 are great vocalists, but my favourite voices are Jaejoong and Junsu since they are the most distinct).
He's had a rough yet interesting life in general so it's interesting to dive into if you want to understand him (maybe in your own time)
It's interesting you say he reminds you of Leeknow because I noticed he has a similar way of expressing himself, also he is very honest and says whatever without thinking. Plus he loves and has cats too which is an automatic climb in my bias list lol.
Oh! One fun fact I wanted to mention was that lots of Cassiopeias (fans of TVXQ) were really excited when Sanie mentioned Yunho liking JJ the most since Yunho has the same name (even the same last name) as tvxq's Yunho so it was weird hearing JJ mention his name since JYJ is not allowed to name the remaining members of tvxq. It was all over twitter when he recorded Idol radio too.
