Everytime Barney is in, he always get killed by a swordsman. He needs to be protected so he imparts his bonuses to other units, therefore win the battle. Remember when Barney first appeared? The battle is won because he was alive and the men were motivated by his being on the field. The other two times, the men got slaughtered because Barney wasn't protected.
But Vinny's setup was the same every time Barney was on the field; in the far back for a sneak attack while rallying his teammates
Not good enough apparently, Barney had the tendency to rush forward for glory. And the enemy exploited this weakness and killed him before the army had any chance to turn the tide. What he needs is personal honor guards beside him to escort him to the engagement.
Usami Haru Right, I completely forgot! If Barney isn't protected like he was on his introduction, he won't be able to go solid Snake on the other team. Thus when he makes it over to the other team after everything is said and done, he can takeover!

The fact that the game speeds up when people die even though their bodies stay on the field means its the AI programming that's the cause of the lag, not the physics or visuals :P
reminds me of custom battles in Total War games, setting up a ton of peasants against a bunch of artillery

August Ninth.
One of our footmen sacrificed himself to assure in a victory for his clan and his best friend, the catapult man. Perhaps it was one of our master tactician's battle plans all along. None of us knew for sure. As the battle started, we scattered few face insurmountable odds.
I didn't know him personally. The footman responsible for our victory, Charles, was hardly a social man. He had no wife or kin to speak of, alone in the world. Some say that he was a practitioner of dark arts, even before his ascension. But one thing was known for certain. He was hardly fond of his own life. He would glance out a war zone and scoff, wishing that he was out in the front lines. It may have had something to do with his past concerning the very blue barbarians storming our front. After all, had they not destroyed his very home of Joedania, perhaps he would not have had the need to serve with us.
The day the battle came around, he was much more jolly than usual. He volunteered personally to be one of the front runners towards the right of our position. A few murmured and whispered, but none objected. As we charged through the grass, Charles wielding a silver blade same as the rest of us, he headed straight for the ones bearing shields. Without hesitation, he flung himself upon them as we locked weapons.
At the sound of cannon fodder, it happened. Hardly anyone noticed, gazes still hard locked on the battle. One of the few witnesses who had first gawked upon the spectacle had sworn that his arm stretched into the great beyond, over the mountains and knolls of the blues' lands. Only when our tactician had exclaimed in a shrill, astounded voice, "What the FUCK?!" where we truly drawn to the sight.
Charles, for lack of any better terms, was gone. Nay, that was somewhat wrong. The sky and he were one brilliant crimson, an inescapable banner that flapped over our lands. With Charles guiding us from above, both the surviving footmen and our catapult sniper made short work of their shields and cannons, who had dropped, whether from exhaustion, grievous wounds, or surrender after seeing him escalate to heights no man had not seen before in this realm...
We, one of the many squadrons who served House Vinesauce will never forget that moment.
(TL;DR, that one footman who stretched into the skybox was amazing.)

You know, there is a game where 200v200 actually works, it's mount&blade warband. Though it doesn't quite have a sandbox mode like this.
This isn't even half a game and it's already a success. 10/10, would buy.

I understand using depth of field effects in your game, but when it's faked with just a blur on the edges of the screen, it doesn't even look good.
You do realise this is pre-alpha, right?

Does it matter?
It's a very common trend to use blurs (motion, depth or other), and it's terrible for PC games. I can understaned for consoles though where it hides bad textures and makes it look a little bit smoother at 30 fps.

I think i have a strategy...I call it "Chariot Charge". Fill the entire front line with chariots and do whatever you want for the rest. Since the chariots have immense speed and the whole front line is filled with them,they'll charge right through everything. It'll be great.
