  • In this video I’ll talk about how I muzzle train my dogs. There are many ways to do this but this is the way I do it. All my dogs love this game.
When muzzle training your dog always check what your dog needs. If it seems the steps are to big then go back and make your steps smaller. Take the time it needs.
I order my muzzles at: www.bambamdogtoys.nl

Well they don´t seem aggressive but they definitly can be super aggressive. Most of them won´t react friendly to a unknown dog aproaching them.
But as I said in the video I will muzzle train all my dogs. Because when needed a muzzle doesn´t give extra stress. So even a very social dog will get muzzle trained in my house.
One of the youngsters got really sick and needed a canula. He took it out so I had to use a muzzle to be able to give him the care that he needed. In this situation the muzzle didn´t make him feel worse of stressed. He wasn´t that far in the muzzle training yet but I could definitly see that he was comfortable wearing it. This way we made sure his body got all the care it needed and he is on the right way to full recovery.
Then on the part that my dogs don´t seem aggressive. These dogs are predisposed to dog aggression. It´s something that is in their genes. So a lot of these dogs will show aggression sooner or later in their lives. Because I can´t controle my environment I will make sure I do all I can to keep everybody safe. So I only walk in on leash area´s but still I come a cross a lot of off leash dogs. My dogs are made to do a lot of damage in a very short amount of time. Because I can loose my dogs when they bite even if the other dog was off leash, I will muzzle my dogs. I don´t want to loose my dog to people who don´t think furter then their own dogs "happiness". These people put my dogs in a danger constantly because my dogs will always get blamed eventhough we're trying to be as social as possible and try to keep everybody happy & safe. Because my dogs are muzzled & on leash there is no way they can blame my dogs. They will still try though.
Yesterday I had a serious fight between two of my youngsters. They just made the switch that they wanted to kill eachother. And thats the thing with these dogs if you've never seen the switch going from off to on you almost can't believe it. But they just start to do where we people bred them for. It's something that they do naturally. And that's why you always need to be aware that they can start fighting eventhough they seemed very okay with eachother. It's not something you can take out with training. This is in the genetics of these dogs because we people selected them for this for years and years. Eventhough we don't use them as fighting dogs anymore that genetic part is still in them. And that's fine there are many ways to let them do what they were bred for without hurting them or other dogs.
We just need to be open and clear about their past and the genetics they have. Nothing wrong with these dogs but they come with a big resposibility. And if you want a dog that's social wiith other dogs then this is not the breed for you. We don't need to prove they are lovely dogs to others.

@@sporting-sbt Thanks for the detailed explanation. Yesterday Evo, pictured, who is 12 and part staffy somehow caught and ripped a pigeon to shreds, having never shown such aggression before, now i see what you're getting at.
