Our 1st home was a church that was built in about 1885, we purchased it in 1973 for 13K. We have owned 4 homes and the church was the best one of all of them. The house framing was rough sawed full 2x6 oak. Had to pre drill to put screws in the wall. The drill bit would smoke from the aged oak. The older churches are very well built.

Make no mistake, this is something you do if you have a lot of money, if you want it to look amazing ! Don't forget how old buildings need all kinds of very expensive repairs and upgrades too !

I've noticed that the Conregational Church is in serious decline. Though many of their former churchs have been sold to other denominations.
Finally, municipalities will get some tax revenue from these buildings!!!

In most cases, no. The property has to be used for a tax-exempt purpose.

I pray so much and I am so starving of that divine energy that I would move into a church. When I found out there were churches already sold for living it was heaven news for me. Depending on who will move there and what will do makes the difference between sin and bliss.

I understand that Jesus Christ is The Son of The Father and I find it sad that there is so much confusion created about Christianity, some people don't even want to hear about repentance, forgetting self, judgement, existence of Satan or demons, and similar subjects, because they think that God is only Love and that's all there is. But Jesus is important to us as Christians too. Because he came to tell us about The Father and he also showed us how we should strive to lead our lives.

@@mariaweydert7986 Well, it's because a church is the house of God, that is the purpose of it and why it was built (those who funded it and built it, they did so to worship God). Especially Catholic churches as they had consecrated/sanctified ground, this means it's holy space. To then turn it into a "private space" where anyone can go and do anything e.g. non Christians living there (problem as it's a church, so conquest/colonialism of sorts, like a Muslim buying a Hindu temple and moving into it & vice versa), also todays society is degenerate so there is a high possibility there will be sex (including outside of marriage which is even more sinful being on church grounds), drugs, listening to demonic music, films, bringing in non Christian objects (from other religions) into the grounds which is demonic and allows demonic legal grounds.
To disregard that it is a house of God is an affront, it is spitting in the face of Christians (both the Christians who built it and actual Christians today (so not lukewarm/cherrypicking ones i.e. most self proclaimed Christians)). For me it's blasphemy, incredibly offensive, disgusting, in the UK they've been selling and desecrating churches for decades (turning them into nightclubs in Scotland) and I walk past one, it makes me feel sick seeing it. Mocking God, mocking the house of God, built and made and used for worshipping our creator and Lord, to being used for people who are anti Christian (yet want the architecture and building produced by Christianity) to desecrate and mock.
That's some reasons of why I dislike it. I hope you can understand why I (or others) do not like it and would want this stopped. Sorry if I jumped the boat and wrongly assumed your comment to be an attack, I've seen too many posts by people (here and on twitter) who use the word "why" not because they want to know why, but as a gotcha.
