  • In September 2011 Walsall Police held their first open day for around 15 years, so to add to the attractions it was decided to invite the RAF to send a helicopter to land on site. 60 Sqdn at RAF Shawbury were happy to oblige with one of their Griffins but as a helicopter had never landed on the Walsall Police Station site it was decided a practice run was required. This short video records that first landing on Friday 23 September 2011. The Griffin is used by the RAF to train pilots and aircrew and is the type on which Prince William the Duke of Cambridge did his training. He may well have flown this very aircraft!
