Inside a running VCR with a VHS tape and covers removed!

I love taking things apart and fixing them! So here's a random clip of the insides of a VCR going with the tape exposed! I thought this should live on the internet somewhere.
After watching the "The Last Blockbuster", I wondered how my old VCR and tapes were doing. One thing led to another, and I've got my old VCR out playing through tapes and taking everything apart just for fun. I blinked and 4 hours went by! When's the last time you heard these sounds or saw anything like this?

This is very cool looking. Does anyone know if the mechanism relies on the top of the tape clamping the reels? Or is it ok to run them like this?
