British band Empyre bring their distinctive brand of dark rock to a wider audience.

“A validation of us as songwriters,” says frontman Henrik Steenholdt on the support of a major label.
The band repays the faith by stepping up to the plate with confident aplomb.
The band blend their huge riffs with deeply personal lyrics, brought to life by the impassioned vocals of Steenholdt.
Bursting straight out of the gates with the title track "Relentless", the catchy new single has Henrik using his emotive lyrics to comment on the ‘survival of the fittest’ attitude in today’s world.
Backed by an intense instrumental, the song oozes Empyre’s trademark atmospheric attack, sometimes warm and enveloping, but with a hint of seething and contempt.
Fans of Porcupine Tree, Haken, Green Carnation and even Muse will find much to love in Empyre’s brand of atmospheric rock, the dark and introspective edge .
"Relentless" as an album. ranges from “triumphant, chest beating rock” to introspective, emotive cuts showing the band’s breadth and proficiency in embracing light and shade.
Known for an unflinching work ethic and a darkly self-deprecating sense of humour, with Relentless, Empyre have proved they have what it takes to stand out from the crowd and deliver music that offers an engaging, if unsettling mix of melancholy, hope, and hopelessness, often within the same song…..
It’s not often that Rock bands are able to embellish their guitar, bass and drums with the sort of atmosphere that comes in the haunting, almost angelic opening passage to “Parasites”.
That philosophy of going beyond the horizon sees a set that doesn’t stand still.
There’s a see-saw swing to "Silence Screaming" decorated with the rough and raw edges of guitar and an instrumental stomp sways to and from.
There’s the reminder that this album is carried on an underlying vein of brooding intensity.
One can certainly admire the humour of the self-deprecating side of a band who are as humble about their talent as they come, but with "Relentless", Empyre are gonna have to face the fact that they’ve possibly created a bit of a prog monster.
