The struggle started about 6 years ago when the majority population of uighurs of that province were overcome by gradual influx of native Chinese with the intention of taking possession of a rich and promising land I believe.

Yes please! I live in a country with Shia’a being a major part of the society, it saddens me that they honor and grief the death of imam husain (Ra) while our imams and shyookh don’t give these events much importance. In fact, I’m ashamed to say I don’t really know what & how it happened.. I think talking about the incident of Karbala honestly is necessary.

This is the first year I actually knew about what happened at Karbala because I started listening to Ammar Nakshwani’s daily lectures of Muharram. Before that, discussing something this prominent in Islamic history seemed to be taboo or at least given less importance to in my Sunni household. When I decided to try and educate myself about the differences between Shia belief and Sunni belief, I didn’t find any resources from the Sunni side to help understand Karbala from a Sunni narrative. I think a series about this would be SO helpful for us to not only understand Islamic history, but also understand how we should observe such a tragic day and the days leading up to it, and if perhaps the Shia community isn’t wrong when it makes the first 10 days of Muharram be a time of increasing Islamic knowledge and good deeds through majlis, increased charity, and abstaining from fitna

What “authentic” events do you need? We are dealing with an inter generational conflict between the Banu Hashim who were the Prophet’s family and the Banu Ummaiyyad who were Abu Sufyan’s family. Everyone knows that Abu Sufyan persecuted the Prophet but appeared to accept Islam after the Fall of Makkah. His son Mauviya was made the Governor of Syria by Khalifa Usman. Mauviya wanted power and opposed Ali. Ali chose not to finish him off at the Battle of Siffin in order to bring the community together. This was a mistake. Ali’s decision to compromise led to his assassination while he was praying in a mosque by a Kharijite. He had wanted to kill Mauviya too but he escaped. Sadly the assassin killed the wrong guy. After Ali’s assassination Hassan ruled for 6 months then allowed Mauviya to become Khalifa as he didn’t want to create divisions within the Ummah and was less interested in politics and more in spirituality. The understanding was that the Khilafat would return to the Prophet’s family after Mauviya. But Hassan was poisoned by his wife, most likely under the influence of Mauviya. With Hassan out of the way Mauviya’s son Yazid succeeded Mauviya. He was widely known to be an unfit ruler who wanted to compel Hussein to give allegiance to him. Hussein refused. The people of Kufa invited him to come there so that they would give allegiance to Hussein. Yazid even tried to have Hussein assassinated in Makkah where he had gone for Haj prior to heading for Kufa with his companions and extended family. Hussain was not heading for battle he was seeking refuge in Kufa on their invitation much like his grandfather did when he migrated to Madina from Makka. Hussain’s caravan was intercepted by Yazid’s army. Their water supply from the Euphrates was cut off and they were forced to stay in Kerbala where the men were killed one after another. The camp was looted and the women and children were taken to Kufa and from there to Damascus at Yazid’s court where they were imprisoned. The men were beheaded and their heads were mounted on spears and taken to Yazid. No one was given a proper Muslim burial - it was a return to the days of Jahilya. Hussain’s sister Zainab, daughter of Fatima and Ali took over the leadership of the household. Do Google her speech in the court of Yazid. She vowed not to let Yazid cover up these atrocities. She started the first Majlis after she was released and sent to Damascus so that the events of Kerbala would never be forgotten. If you want to know why Muslims are killing Muslims today, it is because we have not learned the lessons of Kerbala. Sadly we Sunnis continue to minimize, excuse and cover up our history. But the poets and the storytellers have taken this narrative and created nohas and marsiyas which are available on the internet. We don’t have to concern ourselves with the poetry and myths that develop around martyrs and heroes, all we need to know is that an enormous injustice was done to the Prophet’s family by people who claimed to be Muslims. Instead of apologizing and atoning for the injustice we have so called scholars perpetrating the lies manufactured by those in power who basically saw the Prophet’s family as a threat to their power. If you want a balanced view of Islamic history don’t just confine yourself to Sunni sources, learn from Shia sources too.

Incredible that so little was mentioned about the massacre of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad and his family and friends including his 6 month old baby. Their heads were put on spears and their women put in chains and marched to Kufa then Syria to the court of the cursed Yazid. The other events mentioned in this video may be true but this overshadows them, Husayn (AS) gave his blood and the blood of his family to protect the true teachings of Islam. This should be a day of mourning for all Muslims, not celebration, the killers of Husayn celebrated this day, Muhammad (SAW) and his family were and are in grief. Today is Ashura and it is so sad that for many Muslims this is just another day, many don't even know fully about the events of Karbala. The truth must be spoken and we must unite in grief, not put politics above the truth. Anyway we will all have to answer for our words and deeds and our loyalty to the Prophet who said I ask nothing of you but love for my family.

I come from a Shia-Sunni family, and for the first time reading the comments below gives me hope that the new generation will inshallah move towards a more United Islam, than their predecessors who only indulged in increasing the gap between the 2 sects. For those who understand Urdu Maulana Tariq Jamil did a couple lectures, and even Dr. Umar Suleiman has done one lecture on this topic. Sheikh Abdul Murad also has mentioned the tragic even in one of his discourses.

I just reverted to Islam in March. I’m still learning new things all of the time. Like Ashura. But I learned about it too late and missed on the fasting I think. Some sources online say the fasting days are Thursday and Friday but others have said Tuesday and Wednesday?
MaashAllah for becoming Muslim, may Allah accept your prayers. Don't worry when you don't know, you just do things when you learn more. For example according family of prophet Muhammad's (saw) family (Ahlulbayt) fasting is not recommended at all on the day of Ashura . May Allah help you and guide you.
Mondays and Thursdays usually if you want to fast the sunnah fasts (non obligatory)

The adhan we hear is due to his ultimate sacrifice, he saved Islam, he saved humanity.
Brother if you forgot or missed, just fast the next day and inshallah you make your fast on Ashura next year.

I wish imam Umar and other prominent Sunni scholars could explain the history of Karbala and the important lessons for our time and our role in honouring the lineage of our beloved prophet s.a.w. Why is this horrific incident nt given much importance and attention its deserves and guidance to clear the misconceptions and misunderstanding. Please yaqeen consider this issue as also important. That is because naoozobillah, some Muslims do not want to accept the fact that grandson of Prophet was killed by fellow Muslims who did not love family of Prophet. Tough but true.

Allah is witness what happened in Karbala to family of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Muharrum is time to remember this event either you are sunni or shia, but most people are ignorant. This ignorant has been since the event took place in Karbala.

The blessed day of Ashura(10th of Muharram) will commence on Wednesday August 18 in North America. The prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) fasting the day of Ashura will expiate all your sins from the previous year. For those following Saudi arabia Ashura will commence on Thursday August 19. To be on the safe side fast both Wednesday August 18 and Thursday August 19. May Allah bless you all

Astarghfulila ashura is not a day of joy!! It is a day of sarrow as the grandson of our prophet and his companions got martyred on this day! This day is the most sad day of the Islamic year and you are saying we should be happy and thanking Allah! May Allah have mercy on your soul!

Anyone who takes their deen seriously and has gone through US public schools as a Muslim or before accepting Islam knows it's not a place for a Muslim. I look back and am glade I survived it and I will never send my kids to public school.

Ashura in 2023 is on the 27 and 28 of July so endeavor to fast and the white days

The blessed day of Ashura(10th of Muharram) will commence on Wednesday August 18 in North America. The prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) said fasting on the day of Ashura will expiate all your sins from the previous year. For those following Saudi arabia Ashura will commence on Thursday August 19. To be on the safe side fast both Wednesday August 18 and Thursday August 19. May Allah bless you all
The new islamic month is based on lunar calendar - the Sunna is visual sighting of the moon within distance which is equal to let’s say you live in UK, the distance from UK to Morroco. So if you are living in the America’s the distance is within the Americas. Not based on sighting in Saudi nor only calculations. Based on moon sighting, or no sighting as in this case we finished 30 days of Dhul Hijja , The New Year came in on night of Monday August 9 and day 1 of Muharram being Tuesday August 10. I don’t understand why folks base timings based on Saudi. There’s a big time difference if you living in America’s. You would by pray your 5 salats at same time as Saudi - Salat based on times, so why base moon sighting? Not even a sighting, as they use calculations.
The day has been falsely attributed blessed. In fact it is doomed. The grandson of the holy prophet and his children, nephews, companions, brothers were all massacred.
Such lies about this day’s blessing has been made up by bani ummaya to cover up for their heinous crimes.

@@adnanibnnoor_1 Yes it is. The Quran says there are four sacred months in the Islamic calendar. The prophet mohammed(PBUH) said these four months are Rajab, Dhul Qaddah, Dhul Hijjah and Muharram. Muharram is one of the sacred months in Islam.

What I like most about it is that it’s not written by a Sunni or Shia, so someone from outside the box. We may not agree with everything that’s in the book, but we can take the overall points.
