    Hey Signers! We’ve been receiving a lot of questions about the Summer Intensive. Like when is it and how much is it going to cost!?
    First of all we’re so happy about all of the interest and are genuinely excited for all of you to be a part of it.
    The course begins June 13th and will be every Monday and Thursday for 3 weeks. Our first class time offering is 6:00pm - 8:00pm CST.
    If there’s a lot of interest we’ll likely open up a second class time from 8:30pm - 10:30pm CST.
    The price is $200 instead of $300 since this is our inaugural intensive. The course will include 12 hours of live interactive sessions with plenty of supplemental activities, quizzes and homework that won’t just keep you busy, but will push you to take your signing skills to the next level.
    If you’re interested in more info check out our website and sign up for the email list.

    As a pediatric nurse I learned how to sign in the 60's. When I started having my children I taught them. My husband and I had a rule of not horsing around at the dinner table. So my clever children would sign to each other and I thought it was marvelous. They learned the skill very well. I am very happy this channel exist.

    I've been watching some vlogs done by people who sign to try to help my receptivity. After watching your excellent review of CODA, specifically the section when the parents were signing together and you translated the actual ASL, I realized that pretty much all captions that I've seen for ASL on vlogs, movies, etc. are not only translating the signs to words, they're translating it to English. I know that ASL grammar and "word" order is very different to English. It seems that vlogs are good for learning vocabulary, but can you recommend some resources for additional learning and/or practice for actual ASL word order and sentence structure?

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  Před 2 lety +9

      Great question. We have linked curriculum that would help go future into depth with sentence structure. ASL follows a topic comment structure. So you have to find the topic of the statement then follow it with a comment or question.

    Taking an ASL class that starts tomorrow, so excited~ Two months ago having tried communicating with fluent signers but totally froze like a deer instead, and up-to-now practicing signing reception from "intermediate ASL" sources, and that helps a lot with recognizing signs before becoming familiar with individual signing habits. You can see how that can be a puzzle, finding heavily inflected signs through all the clutter while not becoming distracted by all the facial expressions that fluent signers know so well, the first time was so overwhelming~~

    The Audism is astounding. No open captions? No signing what you’re saying? Wth 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I love when you sign. (But when you speak when you are not signing, you jerk your hands/arms so much, it's truly painfully distracting. My eyes are feeling strained now....Please!!!)

      Yes, I am a very expressive person and use my hands constantly....even when not signing. The reason I don't sim-com (sign and talk at the same time) is it will only show ASL signs but in English order. My hope is to teach ASL sign and grammar.
