This helps a lot friend. I was doing well modeling aircraft until I got to the texturing part.
I was following a Tutorial done in 2016 and blender v 3.41 has changed a good bit. Some of the functions have been renamed. Its like now if I click UV editor it automatically opens up a split screen with 3D viewport and UV editor in view. The instructions had you manually loading those functions. At least I have an image loaded where I can see it but still haven't gotten a 2D wing painted and showing up on my plane.

If for someone doesn't show up the material, for me i pressed the little circle in "Material" and go right on the end where it says also material and click that. That's how it showed up for me

This helps a lot mate, thanks a lot for the tutorial. Quick question: I am learning to mod weapons into Elden Ring, and the game requires textures to be separated into Albedo, Metallic, and Normal independent save files. How would I go about that? Create the model and apply first the Albedo, save it. Then remove the Albedo, apply metallic, save it, and finally do the same, but with the normal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I click material mode to see my texture it still doesn't show up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

@@ndkdkdkmnn that happens to me when i remove an image texture, and don’t delete the “image texture” button. Either that or it turns grey. So try deleting it
I had this problem because the model needed 1 material but i had two. Deleting the Default material fixed it
You need to add a material. This happened to me, to, and i just had to click “new material”.

Useful guide but only when the smart unwrap works. Which it totally doesn't even though I am using a simple rectangle. Some of the faces instead of being squares on the texture image are just lines. It makes no sense. So the texture on those sides of rectange are totally distorted. I am just using a brick texture. and so it's easy to see some sides are not working at all.

Wow thank you! I actually able to texture somethingin blender for the first time thanks to this video!! I would like to be able to scale the texture tho.. When I try to use thee "S" key that doesnt happen, is there any other way to go into edit mode? when I hit Tab on a floor cushion I am working on, it doesn't unwrap on the new screen. I am using blender 3.6

How do you put mulitple images onto the cube sides?
create 1 image that consists of multiple images. everything else is explained in this tutorial.
Whenever I try to click the side of the object the box thing just disappears

Can you import an object file and apply a texture as it works when you lay textures on the native cube in blender but not on imported objects

Just gives me the literal colour of the texture instead of the actual texture.
