When i was in Nail school i did nails for free, when i graduated i charged a low rate for a limited time, this allowed me to see people other then my friends and be able to pay for more products when they ran out. I personally would advise learning french tips, french ombre (or boomer nails), and ombre. a lot of my clients like a little flower or something on a ring finger and that is it. Ive been working a full time day job while building this business on the side for 2 years, and i am glad i did since the economy in my area is tanking and business is slow again.

I learned that I just force myself to try new techniques so that I won't be stuck in my old ways.
That way, I keep learning. Even if I been doing nails for a long time and never thinking I am better.
And listening to those "picky customers" instead of being stubborn and thinking we know better helps me grow as nail tech.

Certain communities of women are very different. Throughout my career since 2005, when I started- I had bought fifteen shades of reds, light to deep. Third customer says- you really don’t have very many reds I wanted a red. I’ll get pink. I just felt some people just like to complain and didn’t get down over not having 100 reds to choose from. The woman came three times and said same thing. Third visit she asked when I plan to have more reds. I answered once my business is more established. She never returned.

I win a scholarship from beauty changes lives. Every so often they offer scholarships. I had to write an essay about why I wanted to be in the beauty industry.

I have been obsessed with nails for 2 1/2 years now and really want to get my license to be able to make money doing them. But in Texas it will cost me 6-9 thousand dollars just to get licensed? I don’t understand why in all other countries nail techs don’t have the regulations we do in US? I’ve heard from so many nail pros about this issue and I know it’s a touchy topic..how are you supposed to get started in a profession like this if you might can’t come up with that kind of money? Then on top of that, you have to build a clientele? And it wouldn’t be so bad if you actually learned what your supposed to learn about nails instead of the basics of sanitation? At least That’s what every licensed nail tech has told me..

      Hi Gena!
Sometimes these schools offer a payment plan, have you checked out around your area if the schools make that possible for you?

I don’t think I could drive that far for so long? It’s just so frustrating..I want this so bad but out of options? Ty for responding and all your videos ❀

In Canada it costs just as much and you still have to apprentice under a licensed tech for 2 yrs. Unfortunately we just got to charge it to the game

@@candaceaphline729 really. I thought in Canada (at least some parts), aren’t regulated and they don’t require you to be certified or have a license?
