Honestly your the first person who made a hair tutorial and explained it so well that I completely understand how to do it myself. Thank you! 👍🏼
agreed
My arms had the workout of a lifetime after this tutorial. They are burning with happiness at finishing the braid! 😂
💪yep
You have the most beautiful hair
Thank you 💁🏼
Thank you for actually slowing down, zooming in for part of it and properly explaining the braid! I see so many tutorials with these braids in a hairstyle but they either speed up the video or just don't bother explaining. This vid actually makes sense.
Katie Aviss iiii
😍 so pretty!! I always failed at pulling the plaits to poof it out, now I realise I never did it properly 😂 must pull it from the sides/edge. Thank you for explaining each step so clearly 💜Going to do this tonight 😁

Most helpful Dutch braid video I’ve seen. And I did my first successful dutch braid because of it. Thanks!
Beautiful! I'm so happy you made this video
It’s the simple things. It never occurred to me to fluff out an overnight braid. Best heatless waves ever! Thank you!
You’re welcome, Tracy!
Sooooo beautiful!! I'm definitely gonna have to try this! x
I love it!!! i did it and it worked out beautifully!
Girl that braid looks awesome on its own! Love the end result too!
Definitely, it's nice to wear out in the day, sleep in and have waves the next day. 2-in-1 👌🏼
Ahhhh I wish I could braid! I really ride the struggle bus when it comes to doing my hair lol

I love the hair style and you're hair 😊😍
Because of you i finally learned how to do this braid!!!!
You're always so informative, love it! ❤️ Sleeping with a dutch braid is genius! I used to do that when my hair was long, now I've chopped most of it off 🙈
So beautiful. Great info.
Love this! Would love to see it recreated on short hair. 😊 x
Love your hair.

Ooh love it! Super easy and it will look comfortable to sleep in versus sleeping in buns. I'm going to have to try this method!
Really good video and i love how it turned out :)
My hair is naturally wavy like that but I’m def trying this as a protective style at night! 💕 also I never thought of leaving the fringe out, that’s really smart actually

😂
Gorgeous xx
Thanks Mira!
So pretty😍❤️❤️😍❤️😍
Love love love xxx
😘 xxx
Love it! I know how to French braid but I need to practice with the Dutch braid though!😁😍
I think the Dutch Braid is much more impressive to look at, so definitely give it a practice, it’s honestly easier than you think it’ll be! It’s exactly the same as French braiding but you’re putting the hair under instead of over!
You really are the most beautiful ever. I will do this tonight. Great tutorial ♡
Oh that's sweet, thank you.
i love doing this hairstyle!
good video as always! :-)
Thank you :)
Thanks so much! Love your explanation video
You’re welcome, Galina!
Beautiful Shonagh. You look like a bronzed mermaid. :) xx
Ahh, I love that. Wish I was! Haha 🐚
so beautiful shonagh x
Thanks Jen!
Shonagh Scott you are welcome x
Thanks for sharing
Great to hear!
Thank you!!!!
Your hair is so thick I'm so jealous! If I did this I would wake up with an afro but I love the outcome on you! X
Haha, if you keep it nice and loose it shouldn't give too tight when you take it out.
my arm hurts
Haha!
I think that the braid is much more beautiful than the final hair style :)
It's definitely wearable alone!
Shonagh Scott yeah! Is beautiful :D
Your hair is beautiful
💁🏼
LilyBeauty
hi my name is Brea and I like your videos and I'm a kid peace out!!!!!!!
looooove it
I would need a hundred braids. hahaha. Lovely for long hair!
Haha...
Here on 2020. Been looking for a good heatless overnight waves method but the ones I saw were quite messy or had curls instead of waves. This is it!!! Will try this out soon, thanks a lot!
You’re most welcome, Melissa!! Let me know how you get on 😃
l do this to my hair too.☺it's really comfortable to sleep in. . .Works really well if you've just washed and dried it. Great video, well explained 😍
Yes, always works most effectively when freshly washed and about 90% dry!
Soooo... A dutch braid. Got it
🤗
I am in love with your hair. You make it look so easy!! I attempted so many times my hurts now 🙈 it looks so gorgeous I will keep trying.
*arms hurt
Same here failed so bad lol! I'm horrible with hair
Haha, keep at it! You'll get some toned arms in the process 💪🏼😂
+Shonagh Scott that's a good motivation to keep trying 😀 by the way your arms so toned!! Am so jealous..
Yaaasss yesterday I tried and failed miserably but today I did it!! And it even looks semi good 🙆🏼 thank you I've been trying to find a perfect beach waves overnight tutorial for so long let's see how this works x
Did it work?
beautiful
Thanks Patricia
The only luck I've had with braids for spiral and waves is rope braid pigtails... my natural texture is wavy and spirals, but I like to tame them and give them some structure
Dutch braids and french braids, I've had no luck with them when I take them out, nor have I had luck with gently pulling them at the sides to make them bigger... but this looks like a good tutorial I can practice with on a day off to see if I can successfully pull it off!
Your hair is so beautiful! Lovely length and volume x I'm going to try this I hope I can do it. Will probably have to watch your video a fair few times. I'm awful at hair especially braids!!
Also I'm loving the highlights x
It does take a little practice but you'll get there :)
+Shonagh Scott oh my goodness I wish you could see the mess I'm making. I don't understand how you place your hands :(
+Jemma Rose I have in fact tied a knot in my hair and now my arms are tired. I will have to watch this for a forth and fifth time.
She is natural beauty
So kind, thank you!
Keep doing what you're doing. I love watching. Any tips on how to skip washes? I try to go every other day. My hair is almost to my shoulders. I just feel gross if I don't wash my hair at least every other day. I am almost 50 so old habits are hard to break.
nice. spritzing the length of the braid with a little water will help it set more. and if you don't want to curl the front to avoid the heat setting it in a large pin curl and spritzing it as well is also an option :-)
love you ❤❤❤
☺️🌺
+Shonagh Scott omg you replyed!!! 🙈🙈
I have a feeling this is going to change my life...:D
omg! this made me laugh!
Lol it took me a day
Beaut x
I do two braids as I want the wave to be tighter
👾slayyyyy👾
Gorgeous!! I had my hair cut into layers and they're finally grown out enough that they'll hold in a braid! I'm so doing this tonight before work tomorrow!! I just adore your videos!! You sound sniffly.. Are allergies a plague in the UK as in the US? Lots of love and thanks for more awesome content!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Ooh, let me know how it turns out. Yes, I have another cold again 😳. I suffer with hayfever throughout the summer months too, so I'll probably have a few more snuffly videos to come, haha... When I leave the UK it completely goes though.
You poor thing!! I hate being snuffly. It works well with your amazing accent, though, so you're lucky! I just sound like a man with a twang. :'D My hair looked AWESOME the next day!! I've actually worn it like this all week! It seems to work WITH my natural curl and looks beachy and awesome. Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!!!!
beautiful hair ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I 😍
Beautiful! Just one question, when you do the braid, the hair should be dry, wet or something in between?
Freshly washed hair, and dry until it's 80/90% dry then begin your braid.
Hi. I have wavy frizzy hair cut in layers which lie just below the shoulders. Will this work on my hair. Thanks
tell us your hair colour so gorgeous !!
Thank you! It's not a bottle colour, it's done professionally with different tints and toner. I don't know the colours or brands used - sorry!
I can do dutch braids on the sides, but not on the back. H E L P M E
I CAN'T DO THAT lol!!
Can you please help me on how to do a stray Dutch braid on my on hair because always go to side of my of heand
Does this work with French braids?
Do you just rebraid it for second day hair?
luckyDancer100 yes(:
Hi Shonagh! beautiful braid, genius! I'm a 30yr old man and I'm having a career change. Do you think it's too late for me to go into the beauty industry? I absolutely love your natural make-up techniques!!! U r an inspiration and definitely an artist!!!! xxxx
Hi Jason! Thank you for the kind words. I don't think it's too late, usually people in their 30's are more determined. Go for it! Get some training under your belt and get assisting some makeup professionals.
+Shonagh Scott Thanks so much for your reply and the advice! Maybe our paths will cross when I'm fully trained and freelancing in the future? x

first!!
How do keep the ends from being blunt and straight?
Hi! Was your hair damp or dry??
Gabi Singh 90% dry. You can just see the underneath was slightly still damp but mostly dry. You need a little moisture in there so it takes on the wave.
I wish I was able to do this but if I did I would wake up with oily hair at the roots so like dry shampoo weighs my hair down I might try it in the morning and leave it in for a few hours. Thanks
+mardel3 It may help if you wash your hair at night right before you go to bed. Use a hair dryer and dry your hair until its about 80 to 90 percent dry. Then braid it. I have oily hair and I wash it at night, when I wake up in the morning its normal. Mine starting looking oily in the evening. And get a shampoo that's meant for oily hair. If your can't find one, at least get one that's for volume. Either one will do a good job at taking all the oil off, but a shampoo for oily hair is even better. I have to order mine from the internet because none of my local stores carries it.
I agree with Jasmina, wash your hair in the evening and wait dry it to about 90% and then braid it. That's what I did here in this video. My hair gets oily too, one good day before it needs dry shampoo to revive the root the next day.
+Jasmina Thank you for the tips
+Shonagh Scott I'll try it and see how it works, hopefully it's more successful than other things I've tried.. thanks love
I am so confused even though you explained well. Do you think I could do the same thing with a normal platt?
It won't look the same but you'll get a crinkles for sure.
Gorgeous!!!! I'm not like you... don't think that could work for me :-(
Don't worry your not alone..
Does this work best with damp hair? Wet? Or dry?
It’s needs to have been freshly washed for the volume and bouncy, and needs to be about 10% damp - so very nearly dry.
I do not know how to braid from behind like at all, it doesn't matter if there's mirror there too ,I just can't do it
