Ich könnte vergessen, das ich von Komponisten wie Scriabin oder Rachmaninoff gar nicht viel halte. Ich bin so inkonsequent, dass ich mir immer wieder das 3. Klavierkonzert von Rachmaninoff anhöre!

Excellent, very sensitive performance, but the different pitch is a bit jarring. I adore both pieces. Great lover of Scriabin's "early" and "middle" periods, but he loses me somewhat with his late works.
James Vaughan Scriabin writes Music with the same idealismus from his first to his latest piece. He died only at 42, who knows what would have he achieved.....but the latest works, his 3th period are the most dark, the most deepend and the barrier-breaking. A listener or a player needs years to come near to this musical language. But I assure you, if you do, the rewards are immense
Recording technicians often transpose recorded performances up a bit. It makes the performance sound "fresher" to the untrained ear. It's still a marvelous performance of a magnificent set of pieces.
Does anyone know why this recording is playing slower than it was actually recorded? It's nearly a foll half pitch lower than it should be, As for perfect pitch, which I have, too, let me say that its use value is vastly over rated!
Yes, Sokolov is technically good, but his playing lacks musical inspiration. Again and again he produces an explosive, ugly percussive sound - a huge problem masking an even larger one: he has very little to say.
I know what you mean, but I can't agree with you in this recording, I think the prelude was marvelous. Sometimes he may be a bit boring, but other times is magical, it depends on the repertoire (and the state of mind of the listener). That's normal, is his own voice and his understanding of the piano, and it happens with every musician, you can't reach many styles at the same level. There's no true, always a diversity of points of view and opinions about everything in this life. :D By the way, my favourite Scriabin interpreter is currently Samuel Feinberg (previously Sofronitsky, but no more since I discovered that genius. xD).

When I first read your egocentric pronouncements my first thoughts were that you must be the most cloth eared, aurally challenged, hearing impaired, musically illiterate, pianistically ignorant listener on the planet. However, having read some of your other nonsensical and arrogant assertions in the comments section of other recordings by this artist, I believe that there is good evidence to suggest that you are profoundly unwell and you have my sympathy. Your comments are symptomatic of one suffering from delusional, paranoid schizophrenia with involuntary, advanced, narcissistic rage. Do yourself a favour, go get some treatment. Although it may take a long time, with the right sort of treatment, you may regain some sort of normality and improvement in your musical perspective. Best wishes for a successful recovery!
BTW - I've just listened again to make sure my first post wasn't too harsh. If you don't wince at his heavy hand in this delicate meditative piece, then count yourself lucky. The first clang is on 4th note in the treble (an off beat semiquaver), etc.
Nope, too harsh. If you can't feel it till inside your bone isn't good. I can't feel the pain and sadness that this piece is written for. I prefer Zarafiants playing.
