Tip for cubers with medium-sized hands: If you're picking a cube for OH, do not go for cubes that are 56mm or larger. Go for cubes that are 55.5mm or smaller. The reason why you shouldn't buy cubes that aren't 56mm or larger is that when you have medium-sized hands, you may struggle holding the cube and may have a hard time doing fingertricks since the cube may be too big for your preference. 54mm cubes are the best possible cubes for OH since its size is good for OH and you can hold the cube comfortably and do fingertricks smoothly. The minimum size in my opinion for OH is 53mm and the maximum is 55.5mm.

X-Man Tornado V2 (55mm)
Gan Mini M Pro (53mm)
Gan 354 M (54mm)
Dayan Guhong v3 (54mm)
Moyu Weilong WR 2019, 2020 and 2021 (55.5mm)

The cubes that you buy may depend if it's good or not, just make sure the size is good for OH.
tornado v2 is definetively not good for OH too little corner cut for OH

This was really informative! I'm a pretty new cuber who is wanting to dabble a bit in other events I can do with the puzzles I own, so one-hand and blind solving are perfect! Some of the finger tricks here are already ones I use in square-1 solves (especially the U push along the back), so I'm glad that there's some stuff that works on different puzzles.

I used to solve oh with a begginers method my dad found in the early days of the rubiks cube, it was fairly convinient and it had only 5 algs. I started doing oh with left and then learned with the right as well, and i had bought 2 cubes(wich btw cost around 1,25$ at a local store) specially for a small talent show in my class to solve 2 cubes at the same time. I basicilally just solved an algo on one and then one on the other or inserted a piece in one and then in the other. It is the best thing i have ever done and i was like in 4th grade. Since i learned cfop i can’t do shit and i have forgot that method.

How to solve the cube One handed :
1. Have a small cube
2. Have an average sized hand, if possible stretch dem regularly
3. Master the Two Handed techniques first ofcourse.

Use a mini cube, like the mini weilong gts, or the mini valk 3, those are smaller and will allow you to get those turns

J Perm, would you be able to make a video for beginning color neutral solvers on what to look for at inspection when you are looking for which color has the best cross? I tend to only try to solve on white or yellow unless I see a four move or less cross on another color.
I watch this on February last year that I average around 1 minute and now i sub 13 average One Handed

i thought my hands were small too. i picked up a 50mm zhanchi and thought it was perfect. after i got used to gripping the cube, i switched to a valk and now the 50mm zhanchi feels wayyyy too small.

Hello. I have very small hands, so it is difficult for me to do the R’ with my pinky. I am also using a small cube. Are there any alternative finger tricks other then regriping and using my index finger?
to do R and R' i use my ring, since i also have small hands and i my cube is not really good so i need toapply more force

I just bought a 0.5x smaller cube than my main (Gan 356M) and I can do the pinky R' there. But I can't do normal U, cuz its turning the B layer, and the other way I cant reach it

I did my first couple attempts at a one-handed solve just the other day, with no help, using a Rubik's brand cube. After just one solve in each hand, I was already feeling a little sore. Now that I know there's actual risk of injury, I'm definitely gonna hold off on future attempts until I get a speed cube.
I love his vids this vid made me waaaaaaay better at one handed.

Hi JPerm, your videos have helped me a lot! Thank you for making these. I was wondering if you could make a video about becoming 'color neutral'. I solve from white to yellow usually and sometimes from Green to blue though a tend to get a bit slower. I'm assuming it's a lot about practice but roughly how long did it take for you to adapt? Maybe you could share some tips with us.
one tip would be to just do the cross with best start(such as more pieces solved or an f2l pair paired up already). you may be a little slow but can improve soon. also, if you do easy x-crosses of other colours(you can do that by specifically looking for world record type scrambles and never do white cross on it), it increases motivation.

pretty bad unless it is a special finger trick for special situation(such as Ub perm)
sad because J Perm's TPS & solve time one-handed is faster than my two-handed TPS and solve time
like day 2 of practicing only OH solves over here, i'm proud of getting my first sub-1:30

do tensions on your rubiks cube matter when doing OH. Can i keep my normal tensions when doing OH or should i loosen it or tighten it

Edit: I got it maybe, I usually tilt my cube a bit anticlockwise so it'll be easier to do U' moves but that makes my pinky struggle to get to the R block.
+Chaitanya Singh Just keep experimenting with how you hold the cube, and when you're first starting out you may not have a stable grip on the cube which makes some moves harder.

Comfortable OH turning doesn't come in a day, or a week. Practice turning with good habits every day and you will feel comfortable soon.

when i first tried cubing i thought i should learn oh along with 2 handed so i did both for a while then forgot about the oh and solved 2 hands 5-6 months later i can do 10 second solves sometimes and now i think im going to learn oh again
