This in interesting in that the movie is called The Mighty Pawns. I only found this movie today. Six years ago, I created a chess variant called Revolution, a cooperative chess game in which both players work together to overcome a common enemy with only pawns. The enemy occupies the center of the board with all the back rank pieces. The both of you have to coordinate your playing to defeat the enemy in as few moves as possible.

I wonder how many chess teams were named The Mighty Pawns. I was on my chess team, The Mighty Pawns, in Philly in the late mid-late 70's at Frederick Douglass elementary school. I've never watched this movie because I thought this movie was about us & our coach/teacher, but this isn't an elementary school & I don't think this is based in Philly.

Those are some of the ugliest darn chess sets I have ever seen! I hope that team/team's coach eventually got some real tournament sets from the United States Chess Federation.
