,Sit back and watch me work. The profile of your axe will tell you how it will split . chop .. and whether it will get stuck or not , .be kind to each while enjoying the video
hi buckin, how are you? Today i finisht restoring my father's ax, wich left me 2018. A nice little choppingaxe we had with us for camping. I will use it for my campfirewood. Thanks for you inspiration, lets make this world a good place for everyone! cant wait for the next sunday life feed, bro.
I love old steel. Most of my favorite billhooks I use for fencing work in the UK are at least 100 yrs old. They hold an edge, easy to sharpen and work hard all day long. They are underappreciated pieces of working history from a time almost every town had a different take on the perfect billhook.Good video thx..
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels and I will be honest I don't even own an axe. Love your message too. Thanks for the entertainment and knowledge.
I can't say how much I enjoy these splitting videos. They're the best. I've run out of wood to split at my house so I'm going to put out flyers in the post for free chopping services because I can't get enough!
You single handedly made me want to start "restoring" axes and hatchets, been a carpenter for over 23 yrs and this is right up my alley. I'm now on my 8th axe and I'm hooked, thank you for the inspiration friend
Great content today, Mr. B.! A vicarious thrill to see you systematically work your way thru the yard full of rounds and reduce them to firewood. I’m too beat up, @74 and 22 years of Rugby in the rear view, to get out myself and emulate, but it sure is fun to watch! Love ya, yer attitude & message are an inspiration every day for all us older codgers. Newbies, welcome and stay tuned, this here’s a special place! Do somebody a favor, pass it on/pay it forward, and never forget that LOVE WINS😁👍❤️❗️ Everytime!
Am preparing my sons first axe and into the bush we go next week.... He gets to fell his first tree..! (Bancroft Ont.) Thanks for what you put out there and the energy you send it with.
Everytime I visit your channel it’s like bringing back the best of my days growing up. I thank my dad for the lessons I learned behind an axe and chainsaw. I’m near 60 and still swinging and BUCKIN!!!
Welcome to the new subscribers and a salute for the true blues... that old pattern is the most common splitting axe pattern we have here....top vid ol mate , jerseys are also a nice looking axe .....especially Hafted onto a Buckin special... keep safe everyone... be kind ... love n hugs for our cynthinator and mama buckin...😎👍🇦🇺
After a couple of weeks of watching Buckin Billy I’ve already re hung two axes, it always feels great to work with your hands when you have the chance too!
Your videos are a welcome escape from the news during these dark days... feel like I have a friend to hang out with. And learn a thing or two about splitting wood! Love the positivity, keep it coming friend!!
Hey buckin great video, nice job you did for Brian! Going to be getting my first double bit to restore in about an hour!! I’m excited lol. Be kind hope everyone’s good ✊🏻
Thnx for the instructions Buckin'. Just moved to the bush and just getting started in the firewood world. Good to know how to do it the right way from the start.

Good Day ! I've been a driftin for many moons, and want to let you know how much you inspire me to be a better man Buckin. Thank You So Much!!! LOVE AND GRATITUDE TO ALL FRENS
Aaaaah... Drinking an ice cold beverage and watching a professional, enthusiast chop wood with a flick and a clunk. Doesn't get any better than that. Can't wait for my next wood pile to chop. Will have a whole new perspective on the blades and compare while accurately looking at the profile. Thanks for showing the knot.
Good evening, everyone, I hope your keeping well and safe, welcome to all the new subscribers and a shout out to all the true blues, have been a bit pre-occupied over the last few months but its good to come back and see such a thriving subs base. some nice splitting axes at work but I do like the double bits.
That's mighty nice splittin a bunch of that mans wood for him. And fixin his axe to boot. I learned some things from this video as well so LOOK AT ALL THE GOOD YOU'RE DOING MAN! Almost makes me proud to be a human again.
If you haven't already made one could you please make a video describing the different types of axe heads? I know the difference between a cutting and splitting head but when I hear Michigan and such I'm completely lost. I love you power of positivity message and it's why I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the videos, I've learned a lot from them.
Nothing like relaxing on the couch in the evening, and popping on a Buckin' clip and learning a thing or two. You already know you're an inspiration, but I'll say it again you deserve it.
It's 4:30 a.m. and I'm thoroughly enjoying your videos. Thanks for all the pointers. I have a ton of 36 inch rounds with lots of knots to deal with. Wish I would know what you've forgotten. I'm thinking about getting a Fiskar X27 instead of wedges and hammers. Thanks for your presentations.
Hey Buckin, funny story for ya. I’ve been wanting a couple vintage powersaws since I started watching your videos - namely a MAC 10-10 and a Homelite XL76. Well yesterday I finally found a sweet Mac 10-10, runs beautifully. Today my co-worker asks me if I want another old powersaw, brings it over and it’s an XL76 that runs like a top! And I been grinning like an idiot for two days now haha
I can relate I'm addicted now😂 in 3 months I now have 20 power saws😬 my most recent being the pro mac 10 10 and xl 130 both in immaculate shape and cheap, and just rippers!! Also 2 of the best sounding saws ever made. Oh yeah.... just bought an Ole husky hickory axe today!! @BuckinBillyRaySmith
I’m an American from the north living in the Caribbean love the best tools for every job and always owning more missing my Canadian friend friend ur passion and spirit reminds me of him ur a beast
Thank you so I can't tell you how much I have learned from you! I'm a woman living off-grid, I've cut down a couple of trees, and split. Well, I'm 63 and short. my splitter broke so now I have to do hand splitting. I have a Friskar x270. Question ? What kind of ax would you recommend for someone like me. Again, Thank you so much for all that I've learned from you! Still learning.God Bless, with many Blessings your way.
I'd love to have one too... any idea how we can send a request in to him? Not sure if it's something you can just order up or if he only does it for certain reasons
First time seeing a video from you. As a german i am amazed by this axes splitting so well. We use heavy splitting hammers here. You know them as mauls but yours are smaller then ours.
What great looking axes. That 4lb is a beast of a splitter, so is the Buckin' attached to it hehehe. Also that double bit looks beautiful. Have a great day everyone, Love to all
I'm not a serious woodsman and I don't even use axes a lot but I find that they pull me in and every time I do use them it is incredibly fun I enjoy using axes and I want to buy some old vintage heads and put handles on them myself so I can use them as the tools they were meant to be and have fun while doing so.
Immediately came here after Devon have you a shot out because of the super chat you gave. Great video and I subbed. You are definitely Canadian. 😜 Good evening from Phoenix, Az! ♥
wow .... thx for your video !! the european splitting axes are so different.... i look around for your type of axes !! sorry for my bad english !! have a nice day, greets from lower austria, christopher
Billy... You need to know this... You are a far more impressive Wood Splitter then Mike Morgan's 3000 PSI, 7 HP machine any day of the week... Love you Billy God Bless you
Never thought much about different axe heads and handles. I guess because I was splitting wood a different way. I can see the advantages of the various ones you've shared. I have only one ax and it does very little, in the way of flying through wood. My ax is a thinking ax. Every time I use it, I think, why did I buy this. It must of came with A gym membership. And a water bottle. Maybe its servers as my therapy. Or as a shopping list starting with advil. I'll be looking for other styles in the future.
When I was in high school I was cutting and splitting wood for my to be inlaws. My future father in law bought me a Monster Maul, solid steel, because I kept breaking handles LOL. Going back to an axe was like swinging a hatchet
Hey uncle Billy. Good to see you. I have a question about splitting. Is it easier to split green wood or to let it sit for an amount of time. I understand that the species will vary the time but what is a good average? Thanks for everything..
As someone who never really did any serious wood splitting ive learned a lot from these videos. Have a good day friends
+1
Nice axes.
What can she do with the bolt?
Greetings Pit
