Commentators are saying so much BS about command. He pitched 50% strikes on his fastball, which is not great, but when he missed he was borderline on many and we don't even know what was his priority that day. A freshmen that has a FB at 96-98, a slider and a CH is very good material.
Back in the day, we had a guy in HS who could hit low/mid 90 (using the old radar guns from the 80s). Unfortunately he only had one pitch (heater), and his control was sketchy. His usual inning looked something like this: 3 BB, 2 K, 1 Pop out, 0 R, and a ton of foul balls that wound up in the grocery store parking lot next to the field which the kids enjoyed fetching.

I think it's cool that he gets the batter ready a little bit -- since you can't really prepare for the pitchers and you don't get many at bats, you want them to be quality for everyone. You don't want to give the pitcher a false sense of dominance, either.

Why is it more common nowadays for pitchers to throw high 90’s/ 100’s MPH pitches?

Guns read differently than years ago. They used to read at the plate, now it's right out of the hand. 90 thirty years ago is now 97

I have 4 words....fastball command... get some. They'll start sitting on average breaking balls and you'll end up as a mid-week non- conference long relief man. All these big arms......last I checked the best pitch you can throw is a first pitch strike. Didn't see many here...
Exactly! Also, his arm speed slows down a lot on those 78-79mph curveballs. Good hitters will pick up on that and send one of those curveballs yard.
You don't even know what he was trying to accomplish here. It is a bullpen, not a game
I have 44 words..... I think he should calm down and save his arm. If he keeps going like this his career is done at AA, best. He'll have a couple surgeries and that'll be it. He'll be lucky to hit 75 mph when he is 25 years old.

Ok so 1st of all he is young!! Do you not read? 2nd of all he was sought after by Ole Miss his sophomore year of high school! I also know that there has not been any pitcher that has yet to come straight out of high school that is perfect! So I hope that you will consider the comments you are making to young players should not be negative and should be positive and uplifting!

There isn't any room to go further back behind the pitcher while having the entire cage in focus, unfortunately. The only way we're able to show the pitcher is simultaneous front views and the occasional side views.

He's a high schooler. Used to a little bit bigger zone than what he'll see in D1 next year 😂
I would tee off against this kid. His command is terrible. And he pitches from behind in the count. Towards the end he did better with his slider. Hitting indoors is always more difficult as everything looks harder then it really is… Based on his arm action and body speed the track man speeds look legit.
This guys arm slot and delivery with his overall height make his fastball super easy to follow, nothing funky about his clean crisp delivery which is a real pro hitters wet dream! I don’t want to knock the kid since I don’t know his age. If he is only 17-18 he has a lot of room & time to get better! I wish him luck!

Good speed but lacks control. Very few strikes thrown in whole session. Tips his curveball
It's not Gross..gotta hit the corners and nit fall behind...if not your not going to make...95 97...falling behind will get hit as you rise up the levels...not sure why there not teaching getting ahead hitting corners instead of max effort...??
I'd never let that catcher be behind the plate when I pitch. Someone tell him to put his target up and don't keep dropping his glove right before the pitcher throws the ball.
He sets his target then drops his glove down right before release so he can pull the ball and steal the low strike.
I was disappointed that he was running the heater in on right handers.
