    Thank you SO much. I am a full time RVer of 10 years and my husband died last year so I'm on my own. I had a new awning put on and I've only had it out 4 times. This time when I went to put it back the arms didn't match. Your video enabled me to fix it myself although the problem appears to be nothing holding in place at the top. I thought there was supposed to be a screw or something. Can't thank you enough!

    Want to say thank you. Had a wind storm and it moved me awning like so. I adjusted and very easy fix.

    Thanks, that was an excellent explanation on how to fix that problem. We had that same problem on our coach awing and this fixed it. Thanks again.

    Great info, I have a brand new unit and noticed my fabric was really badly wrinkled after a 2 week trip, I took it into to the dealer and he said that is normal and nothing can be done. Also sometimes when would power extend the awning the material would start to roll out but the arms would not unless I went and pulled them a bit. I bet my issue is just what you showed here.

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 3 lety

      There no way to fix the awning that will not do damage down the road. I would just put a marker mark where the fabric was sitting.

    That's good information, does it work for electric awnings also? I have an 18ft electric awning that is misaligned and wont let the brackets close properly and I do notice wrinkles in my fabric? Thanks for sharing!!!!

    You never mentioned the rubber cord in the awning roll or the screw that holds it from shifting. How do you get the rubber cord realigned when it shifts out of the roll? I heard about using soapy water.

      William Watterson we have the same issue and question...
      how to get dirt out of groove so the fabric will slide when we tug on it.
      I tugged many times but no luck. Going to try spraying it down with soapy water.

    If the awning is moving on the tube ... It wasn't installed right. The cord should have been lock down on both sides. And the cord in the track on the camper also should been locked in with set screws

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 5 lety

      The cord is locked in with set screws on the trailer, but the fabric can still move in the roller tube because the fabric slides on the cord. If a fabric moves on that cord a 1/8" it will always wrinkle the fabric when you close it and not shut properly. That is what we are trying to show people, we see it all the time on all of the makes out there.

    Thanks for showing the video.One question i have is with the tape as you roll it awning uo does the strap wound on top of each other or slide tape along to prevent bulging in the middle.
    I was shown on hand over roll strap on the end i have since found that this not correct.

    cheers

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 7 lety

      If the awning is lined up properly and it is still bagging in the middle, it could be that the awning fabric is stretched.

  • @EddyDean

    What if the awning fabric will NOT move or slide in the grooves? I can't get mine to slide or move so I can adjust it. Is there something I can spray on it to get it to move easier? Thanks!

      @@TaylorCoach1967 So, you have NO idea of what to do to get the awning material to slide or move like you're showing in your video?? I tried grabbing and pulling my material like you're showing and it will NOT BUDGE! No tricks of the trade to get it unstuck? Will wetting it down help? Spraying on a soapy solution, WD40? C'mon man, you're a builder of these.

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 3 lety +1

      @@EddyDean It is some time just dirt in the track that got packed in the awning slot. The tube are aluminum so they don't rust and it just Vinyl with a plastic cord in it. So it sometime just a good cleaning. When we have this problem at the shop it figuring out what holding it dirt, dinged awning tube, fabric slot pinched or the fabric gone to hard and brittle from age. Like I said it hard to suggest a fix with out seeing it. There can be lots of factor why it will not move. Awning are more like to move when there brand new and in the wind once they age a bit there normally fine.

    I can see that my awning fabric is shifted to one side but when I try to adjust it like you did the fabric doesn't move. What may be causing this?

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 7 lety +1

      You have dirt in the rail of your awning tube, which is not allowing the awning fabric to move. Draw a pencil line where the fabric is sitting, then give it a tug in the direction you want it to move and you can tell by the pencil mark how far the fabric has moved. An 1/8 inch to a 1/4 inch is huge movement in an awning fabric once it rolls up.

      Thx for sharing this vid and answering this question! I'm a soon to be solo traveler so I've been messing around with things before I take off, such as the awning and I freaked out a little when it wouldn't retract and then again when it didn't retract properly. I'm going to check for dirt and hopefully, that makes it easier. Thx again! -new sub

      Taylor Coach Great video! Even better if can say how to remove dirt if fabric won’t slide. That’s my problem. Will soapy water or lubricant help?

    • @robertdewald8781

      @@TaylorCoach1967 I like your video but it does not address the stuck awning fabric issue! Just pulling on the fabric does not work! Now the wind has moved it more than 6 to 7 inches. Two of us have been pulling on the fabric with no luck. Will graphite work in helping it slide or will this gum it up? Seriously Brad we need some good advice. We cannot move our 1990 36' winnebago until we can adjust this ...The awning is 21' long...

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 5 lety

      If your fabric in the tube is not moving you can remove the two screws in your awning track and allow the fabric to move in the top track to straighten it up. Then reinsert the screws back in the awning track so the fabric doesn't move.

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 5 lety +1

      We recommend not to use anything when adjusting the fabric. Just support the awning tube and give the fabric a little tug to move it left or right, whichever it is that you need. So it rolls up properly.

    • @TaylorCoach1967
      @TaylorCoach1967  Před 5 lety

      Very gently you have to pull it back open to realign the fabric and shut it properly. There is no other way.
