They are one of the greatest harmony duets in the 50s that influenced so many bands. So thank you for showing us how to sing like them. Please do a few more of theirs as well as Peter and Gordon etc.
I have heard several cover versions on CZcams where either there is only singer and they sing the harmony part, or else of the two singers, the one singing the harmony part is the dominant voice. That is just plain *wrong*. We need the melody to be present and to be (marginally) the louder of the two voices. You get it just right - not far short of the Everly Brothers themselves.
Thanks so much for this! All my life I’ve been trying to pick out the harmony just from their radio mix but couldn’t isolate every note. Now I can do it! Thank you.
You are awesome for doing this! I have always wanted to learn how to sing both the parts, because this is such a melodious song! And also "Something stupid"... have you done that one too, by any chance? ;) Your voice is fantastic, so smooth!
We're gonna do this in our 3 piece acoustic project and I think I have the harmony down pretty decent thanks to your vid. This is my daughter's CZcams account. I'm Tom actually. lol thanks again.@@GuitarLessonsVancouver
@@brittanythompson8336 Cool! Glad I could help. Wish I could make more of these harmony videos but they don't do as well as my guitar videos. Thanks for watching 😀
My sister's husband and his family all grew up and were raised in Vancouver. We're from Central Pa. Small world. lol Have a great holiday season. I'll check out some of your guitar vids soon.@@GuitarLessonsVancouver
Hi Jason, sorry I'm not teaching vocals these days, but I'm sure many vocal coach's could show you these harmonies. It works best in person than on Skype too so if you're in a town that has singing lesson that would probably work best anyway. Thanks for watching the video.
@@bluemorris Thanks. What confuses me is how you sing in a different key than what you are playing (the harmony vocal is a third above the key the guitar is in).
@@bobspez HI Bob, it's still in the same key. Think of it this way... The key of E has these notes: E F# G# A B C# D# . If one person sings these notes in order E F# then G#, the harmony sings these notes G#, A then B. But all those notes are still in the key of E.

Excellent 💝
Thanks, I have entered all the time stamps now. I made this video before that was possible... or before I knew it was possible.

It will be great to have this kind of thing for dozens and dozens of wonderful harmony-based songs. Everly Brothers and many others too.

In The Everly Brothers harmony Don Everly sang always with bariton and his Brother Phil with falset.

It's definitely better with the harmonies :)

Any plans to do other Everly brothers lessons? "Let it be me", or "So sad to see good love go bad".
I would like too! I am focusing on guitar for this channel but I'll put another Everly Brothers on my to-do list. I was thinking Bye Bye Love.
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Great idea. At present, I'll continue looking for the two songs above. Thanks for "Dream".
Can you show me and band mate how to do these type of harmonies over skype. let me know

What Is this harmony ? Perfect 4th !?
Both brothers played guitar. Were they were both playing the same chords even though Phil was singing a third higher than Don?
Yes, if you have two guitars, both guitars play the same chords. The vocal notes come from the key from which those chords belong.
