    Great tip, I’ve been using cleaning pellets but I like the idea of using weed trimmer wire as a pull through so much I’m going to give it a try in the morning 👍

      @@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 a huge thanks for this tip, I tried it this morning using small squares cut from a cotton dress shirt, and it’s worked to perfection, even after using six cleaning pellets yesterday to clear out condensation following a bit of pest control in the cold evening air I’m surprised how much of a difference it’s made, it took five attempts before the cloth was coming out clean, what a difference, great tip 🙏
      Thank you 😃

    Thanks for the advice Chuck. I'm a saltwater fisherman, so I use 50lb test monofilament, with a loop tied on one end for the cleaning patch. It works for me. Keep the videos coming.

    Inside cat 5 Ethernet wire and split the other end for my cleaning pad and clean my gun

    That's a great tip. I've almost bought some of these factory made and then I remember when I was a kid I used a string and cut up old tee shirt. I have some 50lb test braided line with a loop on one end and a really large sewing needle I dulled to use a weight to drop it do the barrel. I also used some smaller weed eater line and that I melted a loop into one end and attached braided line with a loop. These barrels with built in baffles make a quick easy cleaning much more difficult. Weed eater line wants to curl and catch the baffles. Evidently there's baffles of some sort even in my HW97k. My next step is bigger weed eater line like you have.

      This is an issue I've just run into with a fixed moderator where my normal cleaning method of using heavy monofilament (low friction beachcasting leader) with a loop tied one end for a patch isn't working. I normally just push the non-looped end down the bore but it's hanging up on the baffles and won't go through so now I'll have to find a drinking straw/ guide tube or fashion a weight out of brass rod or something. I can see myself removing the plastic moderator thing and fitting a simple muzzle weight instead.

    If the accuracy decreases, this is always a sign to clean your barrel and check your screws. Some barrels require very little cleaning. For others, you know after more or less shots when the time is right. Because the Patchkit is not available from us for the time being, I made several using trim wire after watching YT videos. However, I never came across your system with the lighter and I will give it a try. What is the gauge of your wire for a .22 rifle?

      I'm not sure what size the weed eater string is but it's all guess, lol.

    Get a bore snake and take the brushes out and just pull through,if u feel u need to use a brush use a nylon brush on a pull through been using this method for years never fails

    Back in the late 70's early 80's I had a Sheridan blue streak, the way I'd clean the barrel was to shove a Q tip into the breech and fire it, worked pretty good.

    Hi Chuck how's things, great wee video 👍👍 that's a great idea that I'm gonna borrow from you 😂😂 thanks for the tip.. that's gonna save me about £30-£40 on a cleaning kit 😂😂I've seen some videos of guys who put Ballistol or something like that on the patch and run it through the barrel.. is it better to do it dry patch or wet patch.. I'm still unsure of what to do😂😂anyway I hope you and your family are all doing well.. peace and love from Scotland and Wild Johnny 😂😂👍🤟✌️

    very cool Chuck! how many shots do you recommend before cleaning your barrels?

    • @springpistonriflefeverlone9611
      @springpistonriflefeverlone9611  Před měsícem +2

      I would not touch the barrel until accuracy starts to fade, because some rifles require a certain amount of leading-in to have the accuracy that they have attained.
      Perhaps having a cleaning kit with you at all times, in case of need while in the field. 😃👍
