      It was a trap, to get the attention of Gus. WW instructed hector to do it. It was a deal so he can take revenge for his family. After all hector in that condition wants to die already. Remember what Gus told him last time they met. This is his legacy before leaving earth to kill Gus.

Sadly, as in every case, hubris (pride) comes before the fall and Walt never saw his destruction creeping up on him until it was too late.

    Gus allowed his desire for vengeance cloud his judgment. An unusual thing for a character as cerebral as him, but so goes human nature. The Walt/Gus chess match provided outstanding writing in this season, a narrative that at times resembled a psychological thriller rather than a crime drama. An incredible achievement by Vince Gilligan and his team cementing themselves as elite storytellers.

It is one of the greatest things ever put on a big or small screen, and bc it's the end of the show and connected to everything that has transpired for the first 4 seasons, and BB is one big, epic movie, it makes BB as a whole the same.

      Walt also realizes that he is going to need to have 2 faces if he is going to reach his goals in dealing with the underworld, and the pink teddy bear signifies that to him, while also serving as a reminder to us that's what he had to do with Jane: the family man and teacher part of him would never harm anyone and wants the best for people, but then there's him, a man coping with the underworld has to be ruthless. Walt's a chemist. He knew exactly how much to give the kid to make him sick but not kill him.

    Walter's ability to manipulate and even understand what others are likely doing and going to do makes him someone you don't want to mess with. Gus's mistake was going after him and his family and probably even underestimating him.

      Gus’s problem was completely underestimating Walter. He didn’t think Walter could catch him in his trap and he did. Walter got him right where he wanted. Guss emotion got him killed

      A big part of Walters success is his luck. He shouldnt have known that Gus had a grudge against Hector, which is why Gus didnt even consider the possibility that Hector would be booby trapped. Of course Walter being able to come up with a plan and analysis a situation benefits him a TON too. He actually has a lot of the qualities and traits Gus does

    I think the reason for Gus's "spidey sense" in Ep 12 is that he might have guessed that Walt poisoned Brock to lure Jesse out and therefore to lure Gus out to a vulnerable place. I'm sure he found the timing of the sick child odd. But he could never have guessed that not only did Walt poison Brock, but Walt managed to convince Jesse that Gus was the one who poisoned him.

      Hell yeah, watching it the second time, knowing that not only did Walt manipulate Jesse, leading him by the nose the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME, even from the episode prior when walt pulled Jesse's revolver and smashing it into his own head, it's like watching two entirely different episodes. I watched those two eps several times from each viewpoint, and the more you realize what's going on ACTUALLY, it's like watching two different episodes. This walter white is mos def not the same walt from before, when there was no Heisenberg.

      earthandairandrain apparently Bryan didn’t even know the truth about Walt’s actions until filming Face Off. The writers made sure he didn’t know so he would be absolutely convincing when Jesse confronted him about it in End Times. As far as Bryan knew, Walt was telling Jesse the truth.

    I saw this whole season as a parallel of Goethe's "Faust" - but instead of God and Satan competing for the soul of Doctor Faust, in Breaking Bad it was a fight between two devils.

    I think Walt knew Brock dying was a possibility, that's why he seemed genuinely relieved when Jesse said he was going to be okay. But Brock dying was a risk Walt was willing to take, which says EVERYTHING about him at this point.

    • @ghenry4513
      @ghenry4513 Před 5 lety

      Maybe, but not so sure bc think read somewhere that Lily of Valley is not lethal but just gets people sick, in which case Walt was just acting a little bit, although still think he was relieved that Brock was recovering because he wants Jesse focused and feeling better and also because he does want the kid to be well asap. He didn't really want to do it, but he saw he had no choice in order to get Jesse to start working with him to take down Gus...Someone discussed Lily of Valley before and said it isn't lethal, but could be wrong.

    All that time building up the tension between Gus and the Cartel in Better Call Saul, ask the tactics played by both sides and throughout the season with Gus finally being the one in charge, taking out the Cartel leaders, avenging his old partner, having his super lab built and running like clockwork... Finally being the a true kingpin with nothing in his way....
    All for it to be ruined by a dying high school chemistry teacher and his "junkie" partner in a matter of, I believe, a few months.
