    Feel for the spring in neutral. Must give a gentle tug onto the spring brake knobs to make sure they are applied before you start the engine for safe start. Also, two hands must be on the wheel at all times unless operating hand valves.

    Properly mounted and secured not cracked bent or broken are the correct terms to be used

      Thanks, static leakage test just the written test
      STATIC (brakes off)
      Single 2 psi
      Combination 3 psi
      Double trailer 5 psi
      APPLIED (service brakes on)
      Single 3 psi
      Combination 4 psi
      Double trailer 6 psi

      Thanks for the quick reply! The book is a little confusing saying items marked with an asterisk are required! Applied low air warning and spring break test! Next page says three test as follows static leakage parking brake and service brake thank you for clarifying that.

    Did not do static brake check, can’t lose no more than three psi on static brake check. Which is performed before the applied brake check.

    3:25 after pressing service brake pedal to stabilize air, do you take your foot off of the brake then look for leakage or leave your foot on the break? Thanks

    • @Zone_1_trucking_school
      @Zone_1_trucking_school  Před 2 lety +7

      Keep your foot on the brake pedal for the entire minute, that’s why is the APPLIED leakage test which means the foot brake is applied (on).

    After applied air leakage test and at the beginning of low pressure warning devise, is the truck still in low gear ? And for spring break as well?

    • @Zone_1_trucking_school
      @Zone_1_trucking_school  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes it is still in gear, after the spring brakes pop out place it back in neutral to start the engine again.

    • @Zone_1_trucking_school
      @Zone_1_trucking_school  Před 3 lety +1

      You can still do it but no required as long as you let them know that the Air system is fully charged before starting any test

  • @federicovega2292

    At what PSI should the governor cut in and cut out I don't give you mentioned in the video

    • @Zone_1_trucking_school
      @Zone_1_trucking_school  Před 2 lety +4

      Cut in no lower than 100 psi and cut out no higher than 140 psi, no need to state the numbers anymore as long as the system is fully charged before performing the Applied leak test.

    Why he’s not mentioning the numbers of the gauges. Like the oil gauge operation range 20-70psi, he’s not saying that?? Who’s teaching him? He has to state each gauge number and operating range. Here in Chicago we have to state them.

    I notice he didn’t ask the inspector to step out and check the lights and flashers on the outside of the vehicle. I have always taught to check the lights outside of the vehicle after checking that they work on the dash. Is that incorrect to teach?

    • @philly5164
      @philly5164 Před 2 lety +1

      Gotta check mirrors, windows rolls up and down correctly. 20 inch wheel with 2 inch of play, clutch, brake and accelerator pedals are all clear of hazards debris. Shift stick and boot in good working condition etc… California requires a lot more details for in cab. Even the door and windshield weather strips should be mention. The more details the better

    • @Zone_1_trucking_school
      @Zone_1_trucking_school  Před rokem

      Air pressure buildup is for Theory (written) test and it’s actually 85-100 psi in 45 seconds. 50-90 psi in 3 minutes is for single air system in pre 1975 vehicles.
      Here we are performing the practical section of the test.
