Since logging this in my usual style would take ages, I'm using this as a chance to catalog the actual numbers on how many rolls these guys make, how many they succeed on, how many they fail, and how many 1s & 20s they roll to mathematically prove Ben is *Cursed.*
There will also be a section that's just rolls they don't call out, I can't see on the dice, or which we don't know/can't tell are passes/fails.
*Ben Van Lier:* 53 rolls (47 d20s, 3d4s, 2d6, 1d10)
1, 18, 12, 19, 8, 12, 13, 1(d4), 11, 1(d6), 14, 3(d4), 16, 1(d6), 18, 1(d4), 8, 19, 1, 3, (9, 4*), 4, 18, 20, 3, ?, 10, 19, 16, (5*, 12), 10, 5, 20, 18, 10, 1, (17, 18*), 6(d10), 18, ?, (20, 13*), 16, 6, 4, (8*, ?), 17, 10, 17
Successes-19
Failures-17
Natural 1s-7 (one for his first unofficial roll, four on damage dice)
Natural 20s-3 (one of which still failed because PVP, another of which he didn't get to use because Disadvantage)
Unknown/Unspecified Rolls-6
*Rowan Bettjeman:* 42 rolls (39 d20s, 2d12s, 1d6)
18, 15, 11, (4, 1*), (12, 12), (6, 6), (11*, 12), 20, 11(d12), 3(d12), 11, 13, (4*, 6), 19, 18, 6, 10, 11, 18, ?, (13*, 19), 8, (15*, ?), 5(d6), 10, 3, 17, (18*, ?), (10, 6*), 19, 4, 7, 10
Successes-16
Failures-12
Natural 1s-1
Natural 20s-1
Unknown/Unspecified Rolls-3
*Adam King:* 32 rolls (30 d20s, 1d8, 1d4)
20, (20, 2*), 16, (2, 17*), 1(d8), 5, 16, ?, (8, 8), 16, 8, 14, 7, 4, 10, 6, 18, (12*, ?), 4(d4), 18, 20, 17, 18, (16*, ?), (9, 14*), 7
Successes-13
Failures-10
Natural 1s-None
Natural 20s-3 (two being his first two rolls, one of which he didn't get to use because Disadvantage)
Unknown/Unspecified Rolls-3
*Alan Morrison:* 22 rolls (17 d20s, 5d8s)
15, 7, 6, 13, 6(d8), 19, 13, 8(d8), 8(d8), 11, 8, 5, 7(d8), 14, (17*, 1), 7(d8), 13, 19, 13, (7*, ?)
Successes-9
Failures-5
Natural 1s-1 (not used because Advantage)
Natural 20s-None
Unknown/Unspecified Rolls-2
*Conclusions Thus Far:* Ben has rolled the most 1s, albeit mostly for damage, but considering Adam hasn't even rolled a 1 yet, Rowan has only done so once, and Alan did once but didn't have to use it; Ben's definitely got shit luck. He's also technically tied for the most Nat 20s with Adam, but only one has actually been a success.
Part of it also has to do with the fact he rolls the most (about as much as Alan & Adam put together). Alan has low-key performed the best while rolling the least.
The failure rates are pretty close so far, with even Ben having more successes than failures. However, if we count his 1s on damage as failures, then he actually has failed more often than he's succeeded. His constant attempts to punch Greg while drunk are also a notable factor, since they auto-fail if Greg doesn't allow him to hit him, which he never does.
Wow! what a lot of work! Thanks for this!
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD thank you!
@@VivaLaDnDLogs wow what the actual F
obviously ben has the most failures, goddamn lol
@@MasterYoda389 I got even worse for Supercut 2....
It's actually because Ben disrespected the dice gods
At 1:20, "they're all dice... they're all the same."
1:20
Ben: "They're all dice, they're all the same..."
Dice gods: -- and I took that personally.
after watching 51 episodes.. i laaughed at this hard
I was going to make this same comment of my own , then I kept looking at the comments and found this one. Now we all know why Ben has the luck that he does. I wonder if he or they have looked at this footage and realize what he said in the beginning.
who ever has been playing p&p rpgs for many years knows that dice are NOT all the same...
oh nooo, they sure aren´t...
My old D&D party got our "stoic and of a singular focus monk" player a set of HOT PINK sparkly dice as a birthday gift. He hated them, until through idle rolling he realized those dice LOVED him
@@1asnyd One of the more recent episodes (probably about 2 episodes before Confucius joined) has Ben and Adam talking about how they actually watch the episodes, as opposed to Alan and Rowan who don't. They were wondering just which side of the table the guest player would end up joining. :D Like there was any doubt.
well i was think about watching the series again. guess this makes the decision very easy. who wishes we could get this length every week. NPC D&D by far the best D&D campaign on youtube.
Same here
I agree
Indeed!
as much as I want it too, i dont want rob to get burnt out.
@@celecitaxerror9553 that is true, he may want to kill them if he had to deal with their shit every week. as FUNNY as it is for us must be a little irritating for him, taking 30mins to simple say hello to a random npc
1:16 Oh Ben, you should have shown a little more respect for the dice. They took their sweet revenge.
If only he knew what was to come
Hahahaha, le causó la mala suerte de Ben 🤣
I was just about to post this exact same thing! Lol 😆

*Epic Narrator Voice* "Little did he know that these few words had placed an unforgiving curse that would cause a series of unfortunate events upon poor Ben"
I volunteer as awesome tribute just to watch this
Anyone else go to sleep with this 😂
About to
Yupp, almost every night 😂. I'm actually going to bed now 😴
All the time😂 especially Rob’s Untitled Horror Game
My guy stayed standing up and ruled a game of D&D while being entertaining for 4 hours. What a legend.
Three years later and I can't help but laugh hysterically at Rob, - at the very beginning of it all - pondering that Ben's dice "might be really lucky".
This is genius. Adding cut scenes into the actual gameplay is genius. I've never been so entertained watching a D&D game
I couldn't possibly imagine a group of people more suited to do this than viva. They've got the characters, world building, props all there already, they've been acting these characters for years over countless skits, they've got the budget and crew to bring it all together, and they've got an entire channel and viewer-base built around similarly themed content. It feels like NPC D&D is the perfect culmination of viva la dirt league.
"I dunno what you're complaining about, taking the Net off was Super Easy, Barely an Inconvenience"
Ryan George Studio Exec: He said the Thing!
Ryan George Pitch Writer: He did say the thing.
1:10:50 Went looking for this comment, not disappointed. CZcams community crossovers!
Wow wow wow
Fighting frog people is Tight!
"Hi, I'm the Adstronaut."
Bodger: "Hey, Greg, I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back about that net thing, alright?"
Can't get over the:
"Super easy, barely an inconvenience" reference!
@1:10:52 😄
Lol
You can't post a whole 3 hours of this! Normal people won't be able to handle the awesomeness 🤠
Weak mortals will Learn then Or Perish in the attempt!
No. They can't post 3 hours worth. But what they can do is post almost 4 hours worth and simultaneously cause the entire planet to stop what it's doing to re-watch the epicness of NPC D&D.
Normal people don't DESERVE the awesomeness
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD wiser words have never been spoken. The weak shall perish.
That’s why we have a pause button.
Time for me to rewatch this for a third time
Before this series started i never would have imagined myself watching a D&D campaign online but here i am rewatching it for the 4th time and it's still not getting old. 10/10 content, great job VLDL!
i feel the same
I am loving it. I'm pausing it and rewinding it so that I don't miss any of it. The Dungeon Master is great. The guys are great. I would prefer that they play like normal. You can tell by their stats and their characters that they take this more serious. When there's not a camera on them, it'd be better if they were playing a game with the camera on them unknowingly. So they were more natural. All these corny jokes that they laugh at every one of them. I can tell the Dungeon Master gets a little frustrated sometimes. Cause you're just being too silly. Don't get me wrong. I love them and I love this I just wish they would play like I know they play windmill and watching they should do this more often this is cool. I always wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons were some friends but I never had friends that would play. They were all too cool for that shit. Everybody was practicing how to be super fucking cool.
i'm rewatching too after binging and watching all the Viva DnD content. i can't get enough
@@gabrieljoseph2159 Glad you could get that off your chest.
Rob was able to put so much story in the beginning 😯
Now he only gets to say 1-2 sentences, before the chaos starts 😂
Sounds like a traditional round of pen'n'paper for me ... at least from my experiences XDDD
that's normal for DM. we like facilitators 😂
referring to the dice Ben is using ... "They might be really lucky!" ... boy, have you got another think coming.
Oh, how naïve they were...
I litterally laughed out loud hearing that 🤣
6 sets of dice later and still no luck
Well, now we know where the curse came from...
New theory: dice are like wands in the Harry Potter universe. Alan was the one who picked them, so they'll never quite work right for any other owner leaving Bob to be the Neville Longbottom of the group
I just realized, where BOBs unluckiness came from. Around 1:20 Ben: "They are just dice, they are all the same.." And dices are like: "How dare you! You shall see..."
I like how invested the DM is in keeping things together and playing along
Oh my goodness, you're not supposed to do this!
We weren't made for this much pure and raw CONTENT
Never once in my life did I ever come close to thinking “Hey, I wanna play some D&D”…….. OMG you guys make it look so cool that that’s no longer the case.
a friend of mine had been talking about the campaigns she's in. I didn't think much of the game. after the limited series with Britt and this continuing adventure? I'm all in
This game has always been this way, its just now that people are starting to find that out. I have played since 1982 when it was considered wierd and taboo.
Looking forward to re-watching Bob roll 1's when he needs to attack and 20's when setting up tents
1:46:06 Bodger the Blacksmith is literally next to Greg, and yet Greg fixed the sword. I’m speechless 😂
I love how no one can agree on how we want these vids. I personally love watching the 20 to 30 minute videos each week while i water my garden. I also appreciate the supercuts for longer stretches of chilling now. I feel like theres not much more you guys could do to appease the fans lol. Thanks for all the hard work all of you do, im really enjoying both yalls channels.
Agreed. 30m is fine by me.
Ill take these vids anyway i can get em. Also thank you guys many times for the work and entertainment. Makes my Thursday every time..
Some want bitesize, some want supercuts... porque no los dos!?
@@RobertHartleyGM both it is!
I didn't read any negative comments up till this one.
1 Year ago Rob: 2:10 "Ben's white dice might be really lucky?"
Oh you poor naive DM...Should we tell him?
How Greg has changed. From a simple garlic farmer who vomits when a frog gets exploded by a hammer to a brave adventurer decapitating ice giants while whistling a merry tune. ❤
The Samwise Gamgeeification of Greg.
And now burning it all down!
@@hoid9407 and now he's clinically depressed with severe PTSD 😃
Well that's my evening sorted!!
Literally released 24 hours after binge watching every episode one by one lol.
Funny how the intro to the series and what everyone says kinda relates to Bob's curse.
I still love that. Rowan: "I'm excited."
Ben: "I'm not."
Those of us who've watched the sessions already: "You shouldn't be, Ben."
21:22 I love how Barradun is so bored with this guy talking that he looks out a window, sees a band of Orcs doing their thing in the distance, and he uses a powerful spell wiping them out, great start to his journey, it’s funny yet shows Barradun’s personality, he has all this power but he’s bored sometimes abs a bit of a jerk, like teleporting to Honeywood in the morning just to annoy Greg. Then he soon gets tricked into getting his power weakened. You guys have created a world of comedy and fun characters. Can’t wait to watch more of this.
Even funnier when you find out how that throw away comment has repercussions later on in the campaign 😂😅
@@danielfountain2370 Havn't gotten very far but that should be pretty funny to see.
@@TheZamaron no spoilers then! It’s not until a lot later so should leave your mind by then, enjoy this is an amazing watch!
Oh GOD from the very beginning it all feels like foreshadowing in a professional book. "I really want to meet your parents, Bodger!" "I'm sure these simple white dice are lucky, Bob!" xD
3:01:48 Okay, this had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. My wife who was sitting in the same room as me and being in home office in a conference call started laughing because I was laughing so much...which made me laugh more. All in all this was a very joyous event and all that thanks to you guys being awesome. Thank you!
I feel like I've watched this series far too many times, but here i am, watching it all over again.
Excited to watch Ben (Bob) develop, reach rock bottom, and conquer Depression in the next 3 hours. Can't be Batman without a tragic backstory.
Squeak! Squeak!
@luv lols I’m Batman!
Lost count the number of times I've re-watched all of these D&D campaigns including Descent Into Avernus and Isolation Games. I work from home so have this playing in the background most days now. Love it, absolutely the best D&D campaign on CZcams by far!
Oh and just finished re-watching all of the Epic NPC Man episodes too.. again!
2:17:00 "Bodger, you can't run away, you're the owner of the Smith!"
Not entirely what I was asking for when I brought up you lads making a supercut for the show but I'm still glad you did!!!! May be 3 hours long but I'll deal with it :)
Not going to lie, I could sit and re-watch this all day, every day.
Thank you guys for giving us so much content to do with Epic NPC Man and the world of Azerim, literally my favourite thing ever and really cheers me up every time I see a post from you guys (as well as your other stuff too, of course).
Been waiting for this. Even though this doesn't change too much, just having this as a gathered series of episodes makes it feel more like a connected session than the clips. Will be binging from this video onwards. Thanks VLDL!
I didn't know you guys had a D&D CZcams channel
OUTRAGEOUS! I subscribed !
This is my first experience with D&D. I've never even watched people play before. I always knew it existed, though. But this looks like fun! Especially with these guys.
2:10 The famous last words...poor Ben
this series is one of the best things i've ever watched, I've never played d&d before but i look forward to the next episode every week, thank you!
Ikr, it really makes me want to get involved!
Here we can see the Beginning of Bob's Curse as he cusses the dice
Yes, I'm here for the garlic & fish? Num num num num num! : D
wow, so much for having plans tonight. How could I resist enjoying all these fine Bartholomew Osiris Bladesong quality rolls in one fine package.
I wish I knew these were gonna be a thing I’d have waited to watch it this way. Watching only 20 or so min at a time is painful
We wish we could do them this long as well. Sadly we can't :(
Personally I prefer 30m. 30m is a long time and some of us can't dedicate a full 4 hours a week on CZcams, unfortunately because this series is awesome
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD no problem I still love the series and all of you guys of course
"And now he's bleeding out of his... hu-hah!"
I love that this video exists, thank you!
Ive never played or seen any D&D, and after just 15 minutes watching yall, I feel Ive been missing out.
There's something really charming in the fact that you lot spent so much effort on who could skim rocks better.
That kind of thing is how you know you are playing properly.
"My expertise is thieving, fighting, drinking, stealing."

The way Rowan talk to the frogmen is just perfect XD
23:41 that double gasp from Rowan and Alan is just perfect
They did it. The mad lads did it.
Of course this comes out AFTER I already re-watched everything 😅 Guess it's time for round 3...
Wow! This is a great way to celebrate your 1st year. Thanks for sharing this adventure with all of us. Happy anniversary, VLDL D&D!!
@ 51:08 Baelin taking damage..and I've watched Baelin's Route...how?..but wait he just shakes it off..Nice day for fishin'..Love it!
They were so hopeful and naive in the beginning. Poor sods 😜
I've watched the series front to back twice... Looks like 3rd time's the charm. I forgot what Bob's and Gregs motivation was anyway.
this is like a full box set!. time to get some popcorn. XD lol
Snuggle up with snacks - the perfect evening!
Well, 3.45 hour NPC DND, the gods themselves smile upon us this day.
I love how everyone got robbed yet Baradune is the one going around claiming people's stuff as his own 😂
Holy shit, Ben's rolls were actually pretty solid at the start.
Well, there goes my productivity for the day.
Seeing this dd adventure as a full movie narrated by Rob would be superb. The small clips are not enough 😭
Finally a good movie.
Welp. Guess I’ll have to rewatch this series! My hands are tied.
Thanks Rob for an epic campaign that can be enjoyed countless times! Every episode is a gem
Great job! Looking forward to seeing the series continue. Have really enjoyed the character and VLDL team's progression throughout the campaign.
I was just rewatching the Playlist for the 4th time and was up to the Hill Giant fight but I guess I'm watching this now and then I'll finish where I left off. You can never have enough VLDL D&D.
You know, watching this again Rob comments about how when in initiative order not everyone talks at once. I don't think his players ever got that concept! :D
Fancied finally checking this out, really happy to see there's a supercut! Loved this, the parts with drunk Bob repeatedly trying to punch Greg had me in stitches
Gotta appreciate the "super easy, barely an inconvenience!"
I've always wanted to try d&d but have never been lucky enough to find a group of people interested in it enough to play it and as such, its not something i've ever been able to play myself. I get so much joy from watching you guys, i've seen other d&d channels but none manage to make the game seem as accessible and fun as you guys do. You guys are by far my favourite channels on youtube, thank you so much for all the hard work you've done over the years, here's hoping to many more years of vldl to come
Oddly enough, this is now my new ASMR.
Just rewatching this, look how far they've come! They actually know how to DnD now. 😂
A few weeks ago, I finally said, "You know what?? Their shorts are so funny on Facebook: EFF IT! I'M BINGING THE ENTIRE SERIES!" Watched the original playlist with the 20-30 minute episodes, over 70 of them. About two weeks later, I caught up to the newest episode, and now have to wait a week in between each one. The first time, I waited a few days so I wouldn't have to wait as long for the next one, but today... I watched it immediately. I'm having withdrawals, man! I miss binging the series in its entirety!!
Then I remembered... THEY DID SUPERCUTS!!! REWATCH TIIIIIME
I love how they said that Bobs dice might be really lucky in the first episode. lmao you have no Idea whats in front of you
@ 2:10:00 Bodger plays the "SOULMATES" song..oh the feels
Here is my little theory behind Baradun's obsession with Honeywood.
I call it: Gregadun
Baradun has a crush on Greg, and moving forward in the D&D campaign, Greg is starting to feel the same way.
There is a lot of evidence in the sketches and the D&D campaigns to back up this theory. One point, is that the sketches are not necessarily always released in chronological order.
Baradun is one of the very few sentient NPCs in the game. He also likely was the very first one who was sentient. He also has the knowledge that the other sentient NPCs don’t have: that this is a game world.
We know for a fact that Baradun has sought out to find/create other sentient NPCs, as shown in the woodcutter sketch. This supports the theory that he is desperate for someone he can actually have a real conversation with.
Another ability that Baradun has is that he is able to glitch himself and almost become a player, inheriting many player abilities. This we know from when we see him riding a hot air balloon “from the air.” Greg is unable to do this when he tries.
This is when Baradun discovers that there is one other sentient NPC in the game, Greg. He probably watches him from afar for a while, realizing that although Greg is sentient, he doesn’t know the true nature of the world that he lives in.
This is when Baradun first made himself known to Greg.
Baradun wanted to impress Greg with the most extravagant entrance that he could think of. He tried to make himself the most imposing and impressive he could be in order to show off to Greg, and maybe win him over. This doesn’t go the way Baradun wanted to, as Greg is more annoyed and angered at Baradun insulting his hometown than impressed. “That guy is such a dick.”
Baradun tried a different tactic to try to win over Greg after this first failed attempt. Using his abilities to change clothes as we know he can, as he has at least two different outfits, and some of his abilities to glitch himself to be a different type of game person, he tries his next tactic. He becomes a shadowed, hooded quest-giver to try to give Greg anonymous letters without him knowing that they were from him. Greg doesn’t recognize him because he knows the same skin has been used in many characters.
The next attempt that Baradun makes, is completely glitching himself to completely become a player, and take advantage of the love meter. This player never talks, so Greg doesn’t recognize Baradun by his voice. This works better, (“come here you”) but Baradun ends up feeling empty because he knows that he doesn’t really have Greg’s love, it’s just the programming. It also won’t transfer over to the actual Baradun, because he had to completely change his programming to make himself a player, and changing back into Baradun will delete this.
At this point, Baradun doubts that he’ll ever win Greg over. So he becomes a bit dejected and pretty much gives up trying. He continues making lackluster attempts, and other methods to simply pass the time. He doesn’t know how to flirt, so he just ends up portaling over to annoy him. “God dammit Baradun! Don’t you have anything better to do?”
We know he still cares for Greg at this point because he spawn kills a player a bunch to just have a little fun, but when Greg asks him to stop, he actually does it. Despite the fact that he is a lot more powerful than Greg and could probably kill him with a single fireball/firebolt. “Fine, I’ll stop killing him.”
They also end up having a few quests together, as shown in “skipping long cutscenes.”
Now this is when the D&D campaigns start.
The first campaign (Decent into Avernus), took place when they were portaled to a different reality. This changed their natures a bit to compensate. Baradun became less powerful as he was separated from the temple of Kalabor and the root of his power (but still fairly strong) and Greg and Bodger became more powerful. Baradun started seeing Greg’s true potential and his feelings were reinforced.
The two of them got along fairly well throughout their journey, and were often on the same page. “Sorry about your loss, can we go home?” When Baradun gave up his self-importance and became nice, Greg was the first person he went to hug and compliment. Alternatively, Greg didn’t like this new Baradun, showing that he did like the old Baradun just the way he was. He was happy when Baradun got his self importance back. “Good to have you back, Baradun!”
“F*ck you, Greg!”
“Yeah!”
Next is the Adventures of Azerim campaign.
This is when one of the very first things that Baradun does in the morning is to portal over to Greg just to flip him off and annoy him. His very first thought in the morning is to go to Greg. When he later losses his powers, Honeywood is the first place he thinks of portaling to. When they were attacked by bullywugs, he blasted one of the frogs that was attacking Greg. When they went to the tavern to spend the night, Greg was very supportive of Baradun losing his powers and comforted him. He asked Greg to use his spare room rather than ask Bodger, and Greg was welcoming to him.
Traveling together, the two have gotten to know each other a bit better over the month. When Greg won the skimming competition, Baradun was very congratulatory, and they seemed to agree on many things, such as being annoyed at Vanessa for not wanting them to hurt the wolves that were trying to kill them.
When Bodger and BOB were spending the night at Madame Floster’s, Baradun and Greg were both nervous and very adamant about getting empty, separate rooms.
Greg has mostly just been annoyed by Baradun through most of his attempts, but as he has gotten to know him and seen him slowly regain his power, he’s starting to be more and more impressed. In the latest Abominable Yeti fight, when Baradun did a bunch of awesome, well-thought-out spells, Greg started to see how attractive Baradun is and Alan says, “Baradun is really hot.” This might not be what Greg says out loud, but we know that he at least thinks it, as the next cut shows Greg admiring Baradun, and he later tries to show off by healing Grinn, but doesn’t do very well.
Bodger is pretty much the only other sentient NPC that can say more than one line, and let’s just face it, he’s Bodger. He’s not really Baradun’s type, he’s kind of an idiot. Bodger and Greg don’t really seem like that could ever happen either, as when they are not fighting and give off much more of a brotherly, frenemies vibe. “I’ve always hated you!” “I’ve always admired you.” “Brothers for life.” They do have that bit in the latest episode where Greg seduces him a bunch of times, but even he admits that it was really awkward and weird. Also if they move forward with this, it might make an interesting love triangle.
I support this. If we could get Alan and Adam on board with this, that would be amazing!
Wow! You did put your bits to work on this, very good! I’d really enjoy the way you tied this together!
@Leonardo Postacchini
Thank you very much! I was bored so I just spent some time writing this out on my phone and thought this would be a good video to post it to.
I'm impressed by the video editing. I like how you put the new tavern in the background.

Well here we go again, have watched all the episodes and rewatching all of it again... Yes I know I don't have a life XD

This was uploaded 3 hours ago, which means that nobody has been able to finish watching it yet (except the cheeky ones playing it on 1.5x or 2x)...
I love coming back to this and seeing bodger without the hammer that was rightfully his.
Take a shot of whatever you're drinking any time you hear 'bulbous eyes'
