A real shame with the Bioshock and Resident Evil collections. In a world where The Witcher III exists on the Switch with all of its DLC on a single card, it's tough to accept lower efforts by other devs/publishers.
Very good point. 👍
Borderlands was pretty good,Diablo 3 as well.
GTA started out rough, but updates have been helpful
@@billranes1214 gta doesnt have the whole game on the cart
@@billranes1214 GTA is still rough, even if the physical copy of the Switch version was released recently. Heck, the Xbox & Playstation editions have updates for the trilogy that the Switch doesn't even have yet.
True, but apparently, the larger sized Switch cartridges are priced higher, so not as much of a profit can be made on those games unless they're sold at $60, or even $70 if the 64 GB are to ever be utilized. I imagine some of the big name publishers like 2K Games, Ubisoft and Rockstar Games put that into consideration when it comes to the physical retail releases of their games/collection of games.
I've also seen some game collections get converted over to code in box releases on the Switch a couple years after the physical cart versions have been sold through. Most of the new listings of games such as Bioshock, Borderlands and Assassin's Creed are digital codes only in the Switch cases from retailers such as Amazon, Target, and GameStop nowadays. Not that it's hard to find physical versions (likely with used game code downloads, unfortunately), but it definitely seems like a money saving strategy doe to the pricier format of the Nintendo Switch carts compared to the discs utilized by Sony and Microsoft.
I do enjoy finding new games at good prices. I very rarely buy games at full retail price because for me that's just too much. And most games will drop in price (except most first party Nintendo games) so I can pick them up cheaper later or 2nd hand when the hype goes down a bit. Especially since my backlog of games is gigantic, I'm in no rush for most games!
Very true!
@@MetalJesusRocks milk
Same.
same. I haven't bought a full retail game in years! I pick up most of the big time titles for $20 a year or 2 after release and I feel like I am not missing out. Online multiplayer games are the only ones where I feel like getting in early is an advantage but I don't really play those.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I paid full price for a game
I say it all the time. You're a really good professional talker. Excited about what you talk about and you know how to describe things well. Thanks for the vid!
Wow, thank you!
Its great. I could see mjr being a fantastic museum curator.
@@MrSlicktherick He kind of already is, if you think about it. He's got a large collection, and a whole library of videos to walk viewers through it
I found kaze and the wild masks at Best Buy and 100% completed it! Couldn’t put it down!
The Switch is the most fun console I've ever had to collect games for, there are so many awesome games already out and it just keeps coming great releases all the time and it is a dream when it comes to being a collector as it enjoys a rich release of limited editions that quite often are really massive content wise.
Some of my favorites under $20: Mario + Rabids, Sonic Mania, Outer Worlds, & Horizon Chase.
“ takes those crazy shootout from the movies and slows it down to turn based combat”. I like how you tried to make that sound like a good thing.
Just got a switch finally and these guides are crazy helpful for a budget gamer like me. Thank you soooo much!
Tho it isnt cheap, if you happen to see Yomawari The Long Night Collection in the wild somewhere cheap be sure to pick it up. Excellent game
@@questionblock8949 thanks for the tip! I’ll be on the lookout.
@@walt4063 👍
I had one but I couldn’t get into it. But congratulations dude
@@JMS103 thanks. I’m pumped to finally play this whole library. Especially the couch coop stuff. 😃
Love seeing affordable switch games - they are not easy to find!
Great video as usual, MJ!
You’re still my video game fave on CZcams.
The Switch has suddenly become my system (I’m 43), and I love it! Please keep up the Switch/retro/indie/bargain content coming!
Your word is ALWAYS gold.🤘
Wow, thanks!
“And they’re cheap”
Are you sure about that? Lol
All prices were my local GameStop as of a couple days ago.

I love the portability more than anything, I have been completing alot of my backlog from like 20 years ago thanks to this lovely machine all the nice ports and remakes/ HD editions etc. Plus exclusives. Thanks Nintendo.
I've learned about so many cool games through your channel that I never would have ever found on my own! There's so much out there these days and it's just so nice to have things summarized and reviewed the way y'all do it! Thanks MJR!
These are my favorite videos that you upload, MJ! Love the variety and how you can sell me on each game just by describing it. Thanks again and rock on!
I'd love to see a few more like this! Very fun and informative as someone who just recently bought their first switch and is looking to expand their gaming library!
Once again I picked up a couple of games based solely on your recommendations. Ended up getting Battle Chasers: Nightwar & John Wick Hex. Thanks as always for the great content Metal Jesus.
LOVE our switch collection!! The games we have found during the last 5 years has been incredible. There are some amazing games out there we probably would have never known if it wasn't for the collection!
I love seeing your all your videos.
Really needed a video from you in rough war times like this. I love you videos such great pick me ups.
I’m not really even that into gaming, but I like to watch since it’s just nice to listen to you lol
Just picked up the Bioshock Collection and I agree. As someone who's put 12 playthroughs of one (easily a top 20 game for me), five or six playthroughs of two and two playthroughs of Infinite being able to lay in bed with the Switch in handheld mode and go through them again is an absolute joy. Kaze and the Wild Masks surprised me. Super fun and well made game. I really love collecting for the Switch. The form factor of the boxes plus them being cartridge based takes me back to me early years of gaming. Lastly I have put an absurd amount of time into Star Wars pinball. I have the flip grip and my Switch is FILLED with pinball games.
So many Capcom games seem to require huge downloads. Even their 8 bit Mega Man collection.
Your vids rock, they keep my collection growing with cool interesting titles and without breaking the bank. Keep up the great work.
Darksiders 2 is by far one of my favorite games. I just enjoyed making builds and running the crucible.
i haven’t played but the explication sounds alot like prince of persia i love that game so i’ll have to check out all 3
Just bought a GameCube for 90$ yesterday
Nice!! Enjoy it 👍
Pretty good deal man

Picked up Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for about $12 digitally and it’s exactly like I remember. So much fun!!
I agree it’s a great game and looks great on the switch
Excellent picks MJR. Immediately placed an order for the wonderful 101 😄 Totally missed that one coming out on the Switch. Loved it on the WiiU. Also an excellent game if you don’t have it yet, Octopath Traveler. Switching back and forth between that one and Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 at the moment. Good times to be a gamer!
Oh god… that pit maneuver on your hot pursuit footage capture was SO SATISFYING!! Thank you
Right?! 😂
Great vid! I need you to do a part 2 now haha keep up the good work!
I was done collecting games but when I got my switch I found so many good games and a lot of older and online games only are now offered on limited run got me back in !
Limited Run is one of the worst things to ever happen to me. From there I got into Super Rare, Strictly Limited, Special Reserve, iam8bit and others. Honestly the whole process has just reminded me that most good games get retail releases, and it's really rare for a good game to be consigned to low print companies. I also have a half dozen LRG games that later were released at retail as collections for a lot less, which puts paid to the lie that they have exclusive games (just look at all the Star Wars games). I still buy from them occasionally, but it's hard to support their business practices.
Switch is a great console to collect for overall, but limited print companies are mostly cashing in on FOMO and the speculative nature of printing just 2000 copies of an indie game.
While all young ppl that don't know how to shop because they must have everything right now us gamers in our 20's/30's wait it out and buy those same games for cheaper or on sale that will stack up in time, because let's be serious Nintendo are greedy for charging a five plus year game still priced at $60
Kinda agree Nintendo first party titles are still overpriced after like couple of years.
Mario kart 8 for example lol crazy it’s still 60
@@michaelmyersplays4992 just yesterday i saw BOTW still price at $60 like seriously Nintendo we're in 2022 lol
@@datbitchkeepingitreal6712 right lmao wasn’t it a Wii U game as well ?
Even though I don't own a Switch, I do enjoy knowing what cheap games are out there! Great video!
Hey, thanks!
Get a Switch then.
@@G.L.999 I probably will one day.
Also I have starwars pinball, it’s amazing. If you’re a pinball fan and starwars fan it’s a must own.
Thank you so much for these videos. I love my Switch. I didn't know about some of these games.
Glad you like them!
I love it when I come home from work on the Friday and you have posted new content give me plenty of ideas on how to spend my cash on Saturday
Thanks, MJR! I just bought Kaze and the Wild Masks based on this. Got BestBuy to price-match Amazon for $19.99. You ROCK!
I just got given the switch for Christmas.
I know you’re the king of handhelds once again thank you for your great content again always learning with you MJ.
🙏 thank you
One thing to note about Kaze is it's a Donkey Kong Country clone. Almost all the mechanics are from DKC - bouncing on enemies, spinning through enemies, the helicopter glide, bonus stages, masks replacing the animal buddies (including one that makes you autorun, mimicking the minecart stages), collecting KAZE letters, etc. That being said, it's a very good game and absolutely worth your time.
Yes thank you for pointing out those games like the bioshock collection and resident evil collection not having the full games on the card. I didn't know there were that many games under $20 right now.
This channel needs more armchair battles between you & Paul & Reggie etc... love what you do, keep up the great work...
Woah thanks for this! I hope to get a switch eventually, and now I know some games to grab.
I paused the video right as the box art for Destroy All Humans showed up. I had hoped you would actually say something about Darksiders III. IMO it is the best of the entire series. It changed the combat / difficulty in that is a soulslike and outside of the first opening area / and last boss, it is a true 3D Metroidvania in world design. Game is seriously underrated. I want more people to play it.
Love your vids MJR!
Great idea for a new video series! Keeep em coming, dude.
This is just the video I wanted this week! Thanks MJ you rock. 🤘
You are so likable and always present the best videos. It is a pleasure to watch your videos.
Heya metal Jesus, been watching your vids for years now, just wanna say that it makes me smile every time I see a new upload of yours pop up, genuinely just enjoy your content, sending love from the UK
This is my fav video you made this year i just really enjoyed it not sure why
Please make more of these cheap Switch videos! Thanks!!
More to come!
Another great vid from the metal man. You can't make them fast enough for me buddy.
metal jesus always manages to spark my interests in the games that i used to find not so interesting in other channels' reviews~ ROCK!!!
Fantastic video as usual MJR! I love when you and others do these types of videos! I think I'll check Kaze it looks really good! I believe it's made by the same company that did Owl Boy.
7:16 nice flex showing off the black spine misprint
Wow...Battlechasers...I haven't heard or seen anything from that comic book since 1998 or so...
On a related note, Battlechasers was a comic book made by Joe Madureira, and he was also responsible for the art direction in Darksiders.
I'm a huge fan of his artwork I practically picked up any comic book that was drawn by him.
Thanks for another great video! You have some excellent picks in there. I've been pretty hard on the Switch because it's so underpowered for the current generation. But, I've found value in it as a somewhat dedicated indie gaming machine. So, now I collect indies and exclusives for the Switch and have been really enjoying it lately.
I do wish that Nintendo would release a Switch Pro to help with some performance issues. But I guess that's why I'm very excited to get the Steam Deck soon. I should be one of the first customers... so we'll see!
@@MetalJesusRocks Totally agree. I would drop money on a pre-order for a Switch Pro without hesitation. Hopefully you get your Steam Deck soon, I look forward to your review!
@@MetalJesusRocks unfortunately due to the chip/components shortage, a switch pro or 2 won't happen for at least the next year or so. I'm waiting for my steamdeck as well, but even valve has to mitigate this situation.
i love the way the stayed humble and reasonnable with your money. i mean, some people just compete for the most expensive pc build out there ^^
*Still the Nostalgic Atmosphere I remember on this channel much love brother!*
you always make my friday more enjoyable. keep on rockin bro!
Thanks! Will do!
This is great! Do more like this please.
"they're cheap"
Not in The Netherlands they're not. Oh god no. Unless it's a third party port of a decade old game, these games NEVER go on sale.
I literally just posted the same thing about the UK.... must just be the US thats cheap for switch
Im in canada and theyre expensive as balls here unless you wanna go into bargain shovelware territory.
Same here in Sweden 😅
If you go to the big box stores in Canada you can find 40 or so switch titles for $30 or less.
You all really can't expect one guy to mention the names of every single country in the world in a video regarding things like politics, religion, social issues, or video games for that matter. That be like someone from North or South America expecting someone from the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, or Germany to mention every single country's name or American State in every video that games made; only look for a "justification" to use transparent ridicule and taunting just because one person doesn't mention every single nation or State or Province in the world. Too redundant!
Good stuff Jason! People love the $20 games!
At 2:17 you forgot to mention that Wonderful 101 is also available on PS4 & PC, still a good recommendation
My current work schedule has me out of the house a lot now, so the switch has been such a great console to have on the go. Whether it's an AAA mega game like Metroid or something new I've never heard of like astroneer, I always have something new. I feel like the switch will be very similar to the Wii with the almost endless back catalogue of hidden gems to find for years to come. Thank you for this guide!
This is a great video. Like to see more videos like this from you. (Been watching for at least 6 years or so)
The Switch Game Library has grown fantastically!
What great timing for this video 😃I just bought my first Switch (the OLED version) about 2 weeks ago and was looking for some cheap games. I might buy a few of these.
Appreciate you doing this!
That John Wick game looks really interesting! Very cool that you can replay the level in real-time
Reminds me mostly of Frozen Synapse
Did you know there is VR versions of the Star Wars Pinball for PSVR and others. Sadly only digital but still really fun.
They look so good on shelves too. The red is great
I recently got gijoe, monster jam, ghostbusters n wwe battlegrounds all 4 for 15-20$ ... all are physical N easy to find.
I've noticed my local shop has a decent stock, never heard of most of them though so cool to hear some pointers :)
Good Call on Battle Chasers. Don’t know how I totally missed this one but it is great. Thank you sir.
Glad you enjoyed it
'Journey to the savage planet' is a great shout. I got it for £15 in the UK.
Great list! Keep them coming! I definitely have been looking at this Need for Speed as well as some of the others. I would check out kingdom of amular re-reckoning
Great list, some pretty decent titles out. Pretty cool with Bioshock being portable.
12:04 Another great racing game is Need for Speed Rivals. Mix between hot pursuit, and burnout paradise. Online is crazy fun, and i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Was a big fan of the Hot persuits and porche challenge / gran turismo back in the 90s. Burnout is pretty fun also in general. Plenty of racing / vehicle combat in Rivals.
A buddy of mine just bought a Switch OLED so he gave me his old first gen switch. I have not owned a Nintendo console since the Wii and a handheld since 3ds so this will be fun to try out some cheap/new games.
Destroy all humans on switch is actually$30 dollars at GameStop new and$14 dollars used
Omg, the Wonderful 101 is one of the best games ever made, glad to see it on this list, getting some well deserved love, keep on rocking MJR!
I wouldn't trust Nintendos Digital Version, when they switch off Shops so early and fast..🤔🤔😰😰
great point
Twelve years of service is early and fast? lol
huh
12 years is early??
Always buy physical. Download digital games when they're free only as you never own them and at some point they disappear when platforms evolve. This is also true for PC and platforms like steam. I own games on steam that no longer load up as haven't been updated to boot with Windows 11 etc. Always buy physical
My Friend Pedro is a highly recommend game under $20... trust me
Now that’s a fun game!
That is a great selection. Like that SW Pinball game
Good luck completing Kaze in 6 hours! That game is impossible to beat... its so frustrating!! Starts off like a DK clone then ramps up the difficulty half way through until its almost unplayable. Shame as it is super fun up until that point.
There are defo some amazing games on teh Switch love it ;)
I'm currently stuck at one of the bosses, yet I know how to beat it... it's just pretty tough like you said!
So excited for the second-hand generation of the switch
Love the video brother !!
You have to do a video on your
TOP 10games for Oculus Quest 2 :D !!
On it!
Love this channel keep it up!!!!
After the 3ds I'm pretty much just buying what I'm super interested in and want to play right away.
After they shut down the shop and games for away there will surely be a good jailbreak solution to access software later on.
My funds are limited. I appreciate reviews like this. You made me aware of stuff I didn’t know about. Stoked to try some of them!
Awesome video Metal Jesus! I will be checking out of few of these like the Star Wars pinball and Need For Speed. Great variety of games highlighted. Did you happen to check out Road 96 at all? Great little indie game.
I actually found a copy of Star Wars Pinball for dirt cheap in the clearance section of my local Walmart, best $2 I spent
Omg I remember playing Destroy All Humans as a kid on my sisters ps2 when she wasnt home🤣 I only have memories of destroying stuff with the ship. I was so happy to see it get a remaster but haven't had a chance to pick it up yet!
A game ive never been interested in is quickly on my want list after Jason talks about it and gets me hyped lol he's been doing this to me for years now 😆 so good
Great selection! i had added them all to my ever growing list lol
I'm sure you knew this, but Battle Chasers and the 1st 2 Darksiders games characters were mainly created by the same guy. His name is Joe Madureira and he created the the comic Battle Chasers and did a lot of amazing art for a lot of Marvel comics.
Good vid man sometimes busy life keep us away from deals like this!!
Another great video! Keep them coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Love These Kind of Videos Bro!!.. Budget Gamer Friendly. Lol Please Keep Switch Videos Coming!!.. ✌️
Some Switch games I've found under 20: Cris Tales, Mario + Rabbids, Killer Queen Black, Risk of Rain 2 (includes RoR 1), Katamari Reroll, Dungeon of the Endless, Mega Man 11, Owl Boy, Umihara Kawase Fresh, Lumo, SpongeBob Rehydrated, Alex Kidd DX, Teslagrad, Wild Guns Reloaded, and Collection of Mana. GameStop Preowned sales have been a big help too, got some of my cheapest games that way, you just have to be OK with some coming without the original case- but in my experience that's only been about 1/3rd of them.
So excited for this video.
Switch games aren't cheap. If it's under $20, it's Shovelware.
Having recently become a dad I'm all about this! Recently bought Burnout Paradise remastered and Borderlands Collection for Switch for £15-20 new each (so much easier to have a quick blast on handheld and use the switch sleep mode with baby sleep being unpredictable 😅 )
I wish they would release double-card games. For example, 1 RE game on one card and the other on a second card. Definitely more than enough room in the case for multiple game-cards
Not about space in the box it's about cost of carts. They ain't cheap. Thats why devs with big file size games make part if it downloadable.
@@Thoushaltplaymore they could make something like premium edition or something and pump up the prize little bit to get as fully physical
@@Thoushaltplaymore You do realize that even some PS5 games I've seen go for $80; not just $70.
And people say Switch carts are expensive! What else has the industry been lying to us about!?
