Opponent messed up their infinite on game 2... rip. At least you gave them the spirit of victory
I don't see how you think they did. They had one energy left to cast the Rhino. Rhino makes 1 energy. What's the problem?
They used their last energy to cast the flyer but Seth scooped with it on the stack. It didn't visually remove their last energy though
Thank you!!! I thought I was losing my mind over here trying to figure out how Seth was actually dead after the opp cast that last Drake. Answer, he wasn't. Seth just scooped too early, as usual.
That is why you wait for your opponent to **present** the loop not just **represent** it.
yes they misplayed, they needed to cast the green creature with their last energy
Even if they played the elephant, they net 0 energy, it costs 1 to play and gains 1. Correct me if I'm wrong but there was no way to play infinite drakes there, you need another combo piece like guide of souls so the elephant produces net 1 energy per cast. Seth was winning either way.
you teased the masses with skelemental tribal against the odds, give the fans what we want! (love the content!)
"If there's a good version of this deck, it's not going to play so many bad cards."
Veteran deck-building pro-tip: Play good cards, not bad cards
For anyone wondering:
In game 2 when seth scoops as he plays the drake, yes. He did spend his last energy to cast it and had seth stuck around he would have realized the mistake and won. However i like to think he wouldve scooped for the guy anyways since everyone fucks up with new cards sometimes, plus its the test server so theres no rankings.
As for the energy in the ui, its a common bug as far as ive seen where if arena has specific elements (floating mana, energy, poison) that the values change with an action, say you use your floating mana to cast a spell, or you get hit with toxic creatures and you see the little green go over to your icon but the number is the same, it happens when you or the opponent scoops as said action is registering.
Ive had people scoop in historic brawl against my Svella, Ice Shaper infinite with Paradox Engine as i cast a giant X spell and the spell goes on the stack as they scoop so on my end the mana symbols are still floating on the bottom of my screen in the "Victory" screen.
The man who raptor'd into Aether Revolt twice in a row calling anyone else "lucky" is a bit rich.
Played a modern horizons 3 draft yesterday, went undefeated 6-0 with a 4 color pile of energy cards and half those wins would not have been possible without my single aether revolt. I only triggered revolt once in those games but it was still fully good enough, definitely don’t sleep on aether revolt.
Oh man, I'm so excited about Primal Prayers. I brought an Aluren/Recycle deck to a _Standard tournament._ I'll be reliving my childhood.
My favorite type of card has always been “be a cyclops” cards, nice to see they’re finally getting energy support.
Fun Fact: the Eldrazi opponent’s name “Matches Malone” is a reference to DC, he’s a small time criminal, and the pseudonym that Batman/Bruce Wayne goes as when he wants to go undercover!
So maybe the Eldrazi deck was actually undercover as something else
14:22 I feel like I just witnessed a miracle
So far it seems like mh3 isn't quite as strong as mh2 was and I'm very happy about that
Yeah, I mean, this is a budget deck so I don't think it's the strongest thing you can do with MH3, but I think I mostly agree. I think MH3 is a bit less powerful (at least in a broad sense, the strongest cards only go in specific decks instead of going in every deck like Ragavan or the Evoke Elementals), but this is a good thing overall I think.
Not as broadly strong but it helps a lot of archetypes and that overall I think is a good thing.
Commander horizons 3, (with a side of modern playable cards) (I do not think this is a bad thing)
Seth: "I don't want to say it, but...did we break it?"
Also Seth on every single against the odds, much abrew, or budget Magic video after popping off one or two times: "Did we break it?!"
You're not fooling anyone. We know you want to say it.
The ability to overpay for Izzet Generatorium makes the card so much better than I thought.
You only need to pay at least 1 energy get the extra +2 damage when Aether Revolt's has its "Revolt" ability. I don't think it mattered, though.
Legendary phrases of MTG gildfish:
Did we break it?
Ma! Get the camera! Put me in, coach!
I don't know if it's good, but I'm gonna jam this deck with a bunch of Dynavolt Towers. That was my pet card back when it was in Standard.
Energy was super fun in limited, I’m not surprised it’s fun in other formats. Looking forward to what modern brews up with it
I absolutely LOVED energy and now there seems to be several viable energy decks in older formats, which is awesome. I can't wait to see what wild jank we can assemble. I believe there is a way to endlessly cast the energy elephant with all the new cards, so just adding that to this could make an elephant chain gun. Just so muchfun and stupid things to try.
This actually looks super fun! Have to start building this tomorrow. Might get me to play timeless.
Local Energy-Fanboy here, nice video ❤
"Be a Cyclops, make some energy" should be on a T-shirt
Drafted some energy stuff during prerelease and had so much fun comboing with the cyclops and inventors axe that I went home a made a pauper energy deck, can't wait to try more energy things!
Saffron Olive got tired of losing to blue counterspell decks - so he became the the blue counterspell deck.
Seth is really charged up about this deck
If you felt like some of your energy package wasnt as strong as you wanted it to be, you should look in to Attune with Aether; that card was banned you know.
so this deck is actually a cool budget deck for historic.
be a youtube comment - make some energy
How was game 2 infinite. Would not the oppenent run out of energy?
Opponent still had a Greenbelt Rampager to go net positive on energy when they were down to 1.
The infinite is from the Greenbelt Rampager they had in hand. As long as you start with zero energy (which our opponent can get to be casting the Shrieking Drake a few times to drain it) you can cast Greenbelt Rampager, it makes an energy and bounces back to hand because you have less than two energy and then use the energy to cast it again for free. So basically it will ETB an infinite number of times and deal infinite damage with the Roastmasters.
@@MTGGoldfish Just when you Scooped they used the last Energy to play the Shrieking Drake so if you would'nt have scooped you had won the game :(
Many Magic The Gathering players ask the question: Is it Energy?
29:20 It That Heralds the End is a colorless lord - they might not be playing it for drazi but to anthem their mites
Dude. I want to build this now. If it can do this on a budget its definitely got room to grow and thats some of my favorite kinds of decks.
This deck looks like a blast to play
I had Amped Raptor and Aether Revolt at the paper prerelease, and when it came down it did work. If you can flicker Raptor... it really pops off.
Seth on deck intro: Amp Raptor, great card, wont probably win us the game.
Seth on game 1: And this is the power of Amp Raptor! It literally won us the game!
XD Awesome deck, holy crap does it build up energy fast. I thought Aether Revolt only pinged for 1 when you made energy, not one PER energy created. Card is scary.
Energy is wreaking havoc in 2 formats in modern and timeless. And I love it.
I hated energy when it came out, then won a game day with fevered visions control, I was in the semi finals, facing down a Jace emblem and a lilli emblem... had stuck a fevered visions early and just top decked sphinx of the final word and stuck it on defense and wouldn't let my opponent burn counter spells to get out from under fevered visions. Got him down to 4, flew over and won.
Took the finals 2-0, opponent had to mull to 4 game 2, playing golgari ballista +1+1 counters that ran the meta back then.
Played nothing but energy variants at every fnm since while it was in standard that time.
So if you wanted to upgrade this to not so budget what would you suggest to add? Other than lands. With fetches and attune is it worth it to move into temur colors?
Seeing the hamhocks game from both POVs is elite 🔥🔥
@@justgeo4288 it was on his live stream during the streamer event unfortunately but search him up and send a follow his way 🔥
Seth aether revolt is 100% a real card. I’ve heard from many many people winning pre releases with them and all that. I think it’s gonna do big things.
It’s super budget! *proceeds to gloss over 4 scalding tarns, 4 prismatic vistas, and a steam vents* loved the video! Just thought that was funny. And I get its budget respective of the format but it’s still super expensive lol
Yeah, in this case the budget is focused on Arena (since Timeless isn't play in paper), so the fetchlands cost the same as any other rare. In paper I'd probably just sub out the expensive fetches for common fetches like Evolving Wilds.
Glimmer of Genius would shine amazingly on this deck :)
I would love to see this again after early access day is over.
I'm amped to play with these cards tomorrow
I know you hyped the Aether Revolt but that Generatorium was putting in SO much work and it feels like it went under appreciated.
Seth one question :) If you had the budget, would you play bolts in the deck? Mana drains or another counter? or is the energy core more important? Im wondering what upgrades are there besides the manabase. Also thanks for awesome content as usual
Okay, so I ran this deck in Historic and just took out the crack fetches (so pretty much my only rares are Aether Revolt) and this deck absolutely *slaps*. It's so good and so much fun, Izzit Generatorium just draws you so many cards it's ridiculous.
Hey have you tried putting Dreamtide whale in the deck? I think it could be a go replacement to the cyclops(i don't have the rares to do it myself)
@@14hourz82 Honestly, I tried searching for other energy-related cards on Arena, saw that searching "energy" didn't bring up cards dealing with energy counters anymore (which is apparently a bug) and opted to just play the deck as-is, sans crack fetches.
Incidentally, apparently just searching "oE" works, so I'll give that a shot, see if I can't find any alternatives or additional synergies and get back to you on a possible re-tooling.
@@14hourz82 Okay so coming back to this, Roil Cartographer is a massive boon to this deck. +1 energy on a land entering adds up super quickly, and you generate so much energy incidentally that paying 6 energy to draw three cards is nothing. Not to mention if you have Generatorium(s) out, you get another +1 draw and +1 energy per land for each one meaning your hand is fueled with everything you could ever want all the time and you basically have infinite energy.
I'd imagine if you wanna go big you could also slot in a few copies of All Will Be One, as it'll also trigger every time you gain energy counters. idk about proliferate though, as you'd pretty much only be proliferating +1 energy at a time.
@@Uberriffic. I don't wanna go big exactly is just that i think a 7/5 for 3 is a great rate and double spelling requirement is relative easy in this deck so can be another wincon while helping the gameplan by proliferate the energy, again i don't have the rares so i cannot confirm it(also im gonna replace glimmer of genius with roil cartographer)
Poor @Ashlizzle, getting stomped by 13 rares three times this video. But this looks hella fun ;)
@@SANT14GO first and last game with cats and the fish somewhere in the middle. three times with two decks
@@AnonYmous-et4mz oh lol I missed the 2nd cats game. Now I gotta watch her side of the story
Need to hear your thoughts on other budget modern builds. Tempted to try and make lantern control a thing
i think seth is trolling us. "generator" into "generatorum" into "ahh, generatorium, thats what its supposed to mean" into 10 seconds later "generatorum"
We really need to find a way to fit at least 3 copies of Decoction Module into this deck. With Decoction Module + Izzet Generatorium, Whirler Virtuoso becomes "etb gain eee + e (from generatorium) + e (from module) + e (again from generatorium on the module trigger) = 6 energy". Spend eee to make a thopter, then get e + e back (one from module, one from generatorium) so thopters cost a net of only one e...and they will each burn for 2 from Aether Revolt (on top of the 6 you already burned from the Virtuoso). If you can get 2 modules + 1 generatorium in play, then Virtuoso alone becomes infinite--each thopter costs eee, then nets eeee from the module and generatorium triggers.
This deck is possibly my favorite Budget deck ever, and that's REALLY saying something. (For reference, probably my second favorite was that ridiculous Aetherworks Marvel deck from Kaladesh where you played these ludicrous big energy producers and copy spells to effectively get infinite Marvel spins for a massive board and then give everything haste with a one-off.) Apparently, I really like Energy in Magic, even though the Temur Energy deck was pretty oppressive back then. It's cool as hell to see this actually viable in 2024 Modern/Timeless. Incredible stuff as always.
Pretty cool deck so much is it really on paper?
What's the over/under on Seth saying "Amped Ramptor" in this video?
That was a sweet deck
The deck is bussin in Historic
Hey guys, i was wondering how would an aetherworks marvel deck work with the inclusion of Aether Revolt?? My thoughts are if u cast marvel and dont hit ulamog but hit aether revolt instead and burn face as a second backup plan. Am i missing something... 💭🤔?!?!
This was sweet!
I have to say, very suprised unstable amulet didn’t make the cut here. Cards seems nuts
The new energy cards look awesome! I hope we get a new Electrostatic Pummeler deck out of it at some point.
Dreamtide whale over cyclops could be awesome, deck looks sweet!
I'm just barely getting. into constructed but I hope to god this doesn't get banned and I get to play at it my lgs
great deck saff!
Would love to see a rule variant. The deck hear looks sweet.
Tweaked this list a bit for historic and crushed my buddy's slivers deck that was platinum ranked. He was mad the whole time lmao
I know it's not an energy card, but has anyone considered Estrid's Invocation in order to copy Aether Revolt. Because multiple Aether Revolt is really good, as seen in the Merfolk matchup here
it's a dead card if you draw it first, is the issue. aether revolt's good in multiples but idk if it's good enough in multiples to justify copy shenanigans.
can you immagne this deck as temur revolt with perfect mana and the two good green cards
So how are you going to squeeze Metallurgic Summonings into this deck?
Is this still on the early release account stuff ? Or already on the live client ? :0
Wow now i really want to see a nonbudget version!
Around 12:10 I am confused. I only see 2x witty roastmaster, a shrieking drake, and primal prayer. How can they keep looping the drake infinitely? They still have to spend an energy every time they cast the drake, right? How do they regain the energy?
They still had the Rampager in hand, so if they went down to 1 energy, they could've used their 1 energy to put the Rampager into play, gaining 1 energy and returning the Rampager to their hand. With the Roastmasters out that's "infinite" damage.
Opponent misplayed and spent their last energy on their Shrieking Drake, though
Do you think this deck would work well in Modern? I want a new deck for modern and am looking into an energy deck.
I'm going to have to try it in Modern. There are more heavily played answers to Aether Revolt in Modern, which is a problem, but I think the deck could still be reasonable effective.
I'd like to see you do a non budget version of this deck to see it's real power.
you did ashe so dirty lmfao
Would love to see your take on this deck, trying to make lands into creatures then Springheart Nantuko bestowed on them and a lotus cobra makes infinite lands on turn 3 if it goes right then you can Doppelgang for whatever you want.

So is timeless the arena equivalent to modern or is it more like legacy because I thought historic was arena “modern”
1:54 so it's a burn deck.
Dude game 2's ending, wow.
I always like seeing Energy win.
Is this just legal in historic, minus fetchlands?
Everything but tarn I believe - though it is important for triggering revolt you still have vista
Yeah, the only change you need for Historic is to play Fabled Passage over Scalding Tarn.
@@MTGGoldfish Wouldn't Historic be a better format for this deck? My impression was that Historic is a powerful but ultimately *relatively* fair format, while Timeless is full of blisteringly fast combo decks. But I honestly don't know.
@@jeremyw5231I wonder about running some new capenna fetches there, maximizing revolt seems very important
Doesn’t dynavolt tower power up this deck?
I wonder how cutting at least 2 of the Cyclops Superconductior for Glimmer of Genius would feel in terms of digging deeper through the deck to find Aether Revolt
I think it could be worth it. Superconductor is definitely filler level. Probably the weakest card in the deck.
@@MTGGoldfish It'd up your rare count (boo!) but +2 Glimmer +2 Dynavolt Tower -4 Superconductor would be a really awesome upgrade.
"generator 'em" added to the list of magic cards i can no longer pronounce correctly
Essentially All Will Be One for energy! I like it!
I hope ashlizzle posts her game would be fun watching from her perspective
Might be worth splashing white for idyllic tutor or something... or black for a one-of demonic tutor
How do you search a energy card ? as far i know, before was working "{E", but now itś not working
Mostly, I think this deck could use another strong energy payoff like the Virtuoso. Phyrexian Ironworks is a Powerhouse for instance, would readily drop the cyclops for that. Amulet or the Landfall guy could also be good.
First thing I'm going to do is run some mana fixing and Doppelgang x3 on aether revolt and some of the energy dorks for BYO grapeshot
What format is this? I haven't played mtga in a couple years.
It’s like vintage for arena. Only three cards are restricted. Nothing is banned. The three restricted cards are tibalts trickery, channel, demonic tutor.
I like the deck, but I don't know how good it'll be. It looks strong against zoo and jund, but I don't think it can deal with mono black or show and tell.
I think you play Expressive Iteration over the Cyclops. The deck is pretty low curve and Cyclops seemed a little clunky here (and EI isn't a rare, so it keeps the budget).
Finally Aether Revolt is on Arena!
@@user-zx5gz1rd1qI think they’re making a joke about the set aether revolt
@@fergusfisher1315 kaladesh remastered has all aether revolts goods and its part of arena for a while now
The early scoop in game 2 was an ouch.
prismatic vEsta? you're really just messing with us now
The MH3 energy cards almost feel like they're all rarity downshifted just because they're energy cards. They seem so strong and having a generic background synergy that links them all together let's you use them in such a free way. It's a shame the old energy cards only have like 4 or 5 really useful things
Guess i gotta build modern energy
“Sometimes you hit a lightning bolt, sometimes you hit a thoughseize”
Oh no, my 2 mana 2/1 with first strike only gave me 1 energy and a lightning bolt!
The card is so good!
