I have a wooden cutting die from Aliexpress with multiple pieces on it. Can I also just cut out one piece to save some leather? Or do you have to place leather over all of the pieces?
I love steel rule dies they are wonderful to use. I can use many layers of paper and it cute s awesome saves me time. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Hi Midge, Yes I love steel rule dies as well you can use them with so many materials and like you said you can also use multiple layers of materials at once if you like to save time. Tfw

EARLY LAST YEAR I BOUGHT SEVERAL OF THE BOW DIES AND WAS PLEASED. SADLY, SINCE THEN, THE AE SELLER HAS RAISED HIS PRICES SO MUCH SO THAT THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE AND NOT AFFORDABLE NOW. THE PRICES ARE NOW JUST AS HIGH OR HIGHER THAN SIZZIX. THE "SALE" PRICE IS STILL TOO MUCH AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED.
I agree. Prices are just too high. I was just asked by so many people about these steel rule dies constantly. People wanting demos for me to die cut and what on what side and machine to use. So I had several more request today. I finally did the video to help them so I can refer any future inquires to this video.
@@ShesheCrafts Yes, I was disappointed to see the prices of the dies when I went to look at them. But I have noticed an increase in prices on the thin dies as well on AE.

You need to purchase the Sizzix premium crease pad to place on the cutting edge of your dies. The pad last forever and you won't ruin your hard cutting plates. It will also save the life of your cutting dies. It will save you so much money in the long run.

It is interesting what you say about the impression left on the underside plate. I have that with sizzix dies. I wrote to sizzix, but they weren't much help. It is a nuisance as it ruins the plate eventually and I have to purchase new ones and they are $24NZ for each plate here in New Zealand. Thank you for the demo. But, sadly, I think the prices are too high from AE for these dies.

Can this cut thick glitter fabrics leatherettes?
Yes it can, Steel rule can cut through many thick materials.
Would putting craft foam between the plate and the die keep it from scratching?
It will help. I have not tried because I use 2 beat up plates so I don't have to worry about the scratches.
Sheshe, What Big Shot machine do you have the regular, plus, kick or pro? I’m going to purchase a new machine but have no idea which is best.
Hi, The machine I show in this video is the regular big shot. I do however own the plus machine. I would say only buy the plus machine if you plan to buy large dies bigger than 6 inches wide. If you don't plan to use anything that wide then you don't need a bigger machine than the standard sizzix big shot machine. I started out with the standard machine later upgraded to the plus because I found I did need it for large dies...So its whatever you think you may need in the future. Hope that helps make your decision. If you are a beginner than the standard machine is perfect.

I started crafting after a friend gave me her old cuttlebug last January it took me some time to really get going I didn’t know anything about die cuts,but I was told they are discontinuing the product so it’s hard to find the plates. I was gifted the vagabond, But I want to have a manual machine that’s easy to move up and down stairs and keep away from little ones. I do have two dies that won’t fit my machine now. I do think I will get the larger platform machine. Again I appreciate you and your expertise. 💞Hugs

Yes you can and sometimes id depends on the thickness of the material. Steel rule dies can cut through a lot of material. Hope that helps

Hello, I have the older version. there are new version out. I would start with the basic middle version that is the one I have in the video. It comes in different colors. white and grey is the most recent color. Hope that helps.

Steel rule dies can cut a couple layers of fabric at the same time, felt, light weight chip board, and thinner leather. Thin metal dies cut paper and some cut felt. There are tons of tutorials on CZcams. Hope this helps.
