Award winning artist Ginger Cook...

I just ❤️ these Lilacs. I'm in Tacoma watching this while sitting outside next to my Lilac tree that is just now blooming and putting out the most gorgeous scent! Kind of a 3-D lesson LOL.

Just saw your comment. we had about 12 large bushes of them lining our driveway when I was a kid. there is not other flower like it.

What a lovely painting! I so enjoyed doing this and the whole time, all thought about was my grandmother, she had many lilac shrubs in her yard and her house was filled with vases full of lilacs. When I bought my house, that was the 1st shrub I planted in memory of her. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial.
We had these flowers growing up. About 10 bushes (large ones) lined our driveway. Really lovely.

I love this one Ginger! I don't know if anyone else has requested this or having trouble, but it really helps when you zoom in on parts of the painting when there is detail work involved. Really anytime, on occasion helps. I noticed I have trouble when you do shadowing. When you zoom in it makes a big difference. Thanks again Ginger and I hope you enjoyed your vacation!!

I did lilacs in a blue vase with only my fingers and it sold! lol I thought I would be keeping it for myself because they are my favorite flowers. I am not keeping it so I want THIS one for me. My father was a wonderful man. He adopted me at the age of 5 and there is so much to admire about him.
Love this painting. I’m attempting to paint it now. I haven’t started on the lilacs yet. I painted the candles at Christmas and it turned out great. I’ve painted along with Cinnamon several times. You both are amazing.

Ginger - I prefer to do 16x20 inch canvases and that stumps me as to how to take your tutorial size and expand it Also on a small canvas where you "dab,dab" for flowers, will that be the same stroke on a larger canvas, or will a bigger canvas need the flowers to have more shape?
8x10 is one half of 16x20.. Just divide your canvas into fourths, the same for the 8x10 and sketch in.. Easy You have to size the brush for the canvas. Yes you can still dab dab dab.

In summer, Backyard I do gardening only flowers 🌺 which is my hobby, not vegetables, different types of flowers bloomed, Roses, Sunflowers, Hibiscus, Peony, Sun Drop, Jasmine, Mandeville, Lilac, Lily., The day when I was watching you painting of Sunflowers, I was very happy, came in mind,with Regards want to your name ' Mother of Flowers ' or 'Flower Girl', I love ❤️ and pay respect to you. You must have an awesome garden. Now go get a vase and set up a still life from your garden flowers a bit like this one and put a light on it so you can cast a shadow and take a picture and then paint it. Fun

Yes! Buy the BEST paints you can afford - poor quality paints are SO frustrating. You can't do a good job with poor quality tools.
